Summary
Link knows his role in supporting the war is important. He knows that he's valuable to that end in a lot of ways, not just his skill with a sword and confidence on a battlefield. The same reason the witch wanted him so badly made him valuable for things like making the outlying Lords more cooperative with supplies and money.
He trusted Impa was right in knowing the best way to convince them of it, and as long as he stayed drunk enough it was... easier to tolerate what he had to do.
