Chapter Text
Martin and Chris were falling, the older pulling the younger close to his chest. Chris leaned against him as he shut his eyes. Fear swirled in both of them as they watched the Tortuga get further and further away.
Martin felt tree branches crack underneath his back. Chris snuggled closer to him, squeezing his eyes shut. Martin tried not to wince as they cracked and broke. The trees weren't all that tall, but they did land in a hole that was about ten feet deep.
Chris opened his eyes and looked around. He had a few scrapes and bruises here and there. He looked at Martin and his heart dropped. Martin had a concussion and a broken leg with the bone poking through his skin, probably in an effort to keep Chris safe. Which had worked, unfortunately.
He helped Martin sit up, who groaned. He grabbed his first aid kit to take care of his injuries. Chris stood up and looked around to see if he could find a way out of this mess. He rocked on his heels as he did so.
The hole was smooth dirt, the bottom covered in leaves and twigs. Some of the twigs, Chris had used to help set Martin's broken leg back into the place. There wasn't any food, but hopefully they wouldn't be down here for all that long.
Okay, now, how was he going to take care of getting him and Martin out of this?
Chris snapped his fingers and grabbed the rope from his bag. He tied it to a rock then tossed it up. He tugged on it before tying the other end to Martin. He climbed up and used it to carefully pull Martin up.
Occasionally, Martin would groan. Chris let him until there was a rustling from a bush. He tensed and stopped pulling Martin up, looking over. A rabbit came out, causing him to sigh in relief.
He went back to pulling him up. Martin soon joined him all the way up. He pulled Martin along, being as careful as he could not to hurt him.
"Chris to Tortuga," he said into his creature pod. "Chris to Tortuga."
"Tortuga here. Where are you?"
"The garage door opened while we were looking for a parking spot. Martin and I fell out. Martin's hurt."
"How hurt?"
"Concussion and broken leg. He's out cold with now." Chris started climbing up a tree and tied the rope to a branch higher up. He pulled Martin up. "We're up on a tree to keep ourselves as safe as we can."
"We're on the way. Try not to move."
"Wasn't planning on it." Chris hung up.
A beeping sound started Chris. He wobbled before getting his grip back onto the branch. He looked down and saw a Zachbot flying past them with a baby black bear cub. His eyes widened.
Chris had to help, but was it really a good idea to leave Martin alone in such a vulnerable state? He had to decide quick.
With a worried sigh, Chris got down from the tree and ran after the bot. He had to work fast so he could get back to Martin and keep him as safe as he possibly could. He grabbed a twig and smacked the back of its head.
He wasn't as strong as others on the crew, but Chris was still strong. Chris startled it enough to make it drop the cub, who ran off safely. The Zachbot turned around and beeped angrily at the younger Kratt brother.
Chris ran and started climbing a tree that wasn't the tree that Martin was in. The Zachbot followed him up, so he jumped from tree to tree to keep himself safe and get it away from Martin. He called the crew again.
"Aviva! Zach's collecting black bear cubs. I got one to drop a cub, but its chasing me and I don't want it to find Martin. How close are you?"
"Five minutes. Do you think you'll be able to distract it for that long?"
"I can try." Chris got higher, looking at Martin for the briefest of moments. Martin was still out, but he looked like he was about to groan. He internally swore.
Martin groaned loudly, catching the Zachbot's attention. It started to go to Martin, so Chris jumped off the branch and landed on the Zachbot.
"Not today, Zachbot. Not only do animals deserve to be living free and in the wild, but Martin needs to get back to the Tortuga and heal."
He heard the annoying laughter that showed that Zach was nearby. The pale man went over to him and snapped his fingers. Both Chris and Martin were picked up by two Zach bots. Chris kicked to try to be free.
"Aw, is the Green Guy trying to get free?" Zach teased and looked at Martin. He laughed. "And Blue Boy's hurt."
"Shut up, Zach. Let us go."
"No."
"Martin needs medical attention. He could get an infection on his leg if you don't let us go."
Zach scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Why should I care?"
"Because he's a fellow human." Chris crossed his arms and glared. "Just let us go so he can get the help he needs."
The raven haired man pretended to think. "Oh, let me think.... No! You Wild Ratts are always messing up my plans!"
Chris sighed. "He needs medical help."
"And I don't care. Zachbots, take them to the ship."
The Zachbots listened to Zach, taking the brothers inside the ship. They were put into a red and glowing cage. Chris put Martin's head into his lap and carefully stroked his head.
"Don't even try to call your friends. My cage disrupts your Creature Pods."
Chris glared at him before turning his focus to Martin. "I'm sorry, Martin. I'll get you out of here somehow..."
