Notes:

Ya'll, I'm Australian, sorry if some words are spelled off, its just how we spell it. Also English isn't my first language, and I'm learning Japanese, so majority (if any) of the Japanese words/phrases would be accurate and used in the correct context. I'm a very graphic person, I love angst and making everything extremely dark and deep, if that's not your type, then proceed with warning. But without further ado, ENJOY THE READ!

Chapter 1: Actions are louder than words

Chapter Text

Gravel scrunched under Izuku's feet as he walked the long treacherous walk home after the long, rough day. Not only did he get told off by his childhood friend- the infamous katsuki bakugo- to jump, but his idol, his literal IDOL told him he needed a quirk to be a hero.

The weight of his entire world crushing was weighing him down as he walked home. Some of the slimy residue was still in his throat, threatening to choke him if it wanted, and honestly? Izuku would let it. What was the point in trying so hard to be something he didn’t? He wanted only one thing- to be a hero, to get into UA, to be worth something. But like Bakugo says, Izuku is just a nerd with his head too high up in his head.

Clutching his notebook- now signed with his idol’s signature- izuku wiped the tears threatening to fall from his eyes. Why did he even try anymore? All of his mistakes were just due to him being born. Maybe he should just die. He just needed to study and do his best. The next best thing he needs to accomplish now is to just pay his poor mother back for all the trouble he causes the poor woman. But its alright, it’s doable, he only has a few more weeks of middle school left.

Upon entering his house, Izuku removed his shoes at the genkan, putting on his indoor slippers. He let out a soft sigh and moved towards his room, the door decorated with an All might sign with his name on it. He called out to the empty house;

“I’m home!”

Even though Izuku knew his mom was at work, it never hurt to say it out loud.

Walking into his room, Izuku slipped his bag off his shoulder and dropped it next to his desk. After changing out of his burnt uniform- god he’d need to stitch it up again- his gaze fell on the old laptop rested on a laptop stand he bought a while back with an inbuilt fan to not overheat the old motherboard. He plopped onto the desk chair, the chair sinking slightly under his weight, but not too much, he was underweight afterall. Putting the notebook that had been burnt by his childhood friend on the desk, Izuku flipped it open past the page All might, the number 1 hero, had signed. He lifted the screen of the laptop open and waited for the screen to load up, the old system wiring loudly at protest.

When it finished loading, Izuku made a quick route to his favourite fan site, which supplied him with the newest hero fight videos in 4K quality. He picked up his favourite pen and began jolting down anything he could see in the fight with best jeanist and mount lady. It was his stress relief after a rough day.

“I wonder just how big she can get, if it takes a physical toll on her body or not”

And off he went with his mutterings.
__________

Izuku sighed as he leaned back in chair, glancing at the time which read ‘5:27 pm’. His mum should be home by now. Izuku couldn’t wait to have dinner with her. It was most arguably his favourite time of the day. Standing up from his chair, he stretched his body, hearing a few bones crack before slowly walking out into the dark room. It was winter so the sun went down early. The house was dark. Weird. Usually his mom would at least have the lights on, which was really off now that it wasn’t. Walking out into the kitchen, Izuku noticed the cold space, his mom wasn’t home and that much was obvious. Quickly checking his phone for any messages from his mom about a longer shift or an errand was quickly thrown out the window once he realised that there was no message from her. Shrugging, Izuku turned the lights on and began preparing a quick meal for himself only, but unable to shake the thought that something was wrong because his mom got off work at 4 and would be home by 4:45. It was now 5:30 pm.

After eating dinner and washing his dishes away, Izuku glances at the door, noting how Inko isn't home yet, Izuku decides to call her, actually getting a bit worried now that it is 6 pm.

One ring
Two rings
Three rings
‘Hey this is Inko, please leave a message after the beep!’

Beep.

Izuku spoke softly, worry heavy in his tone;

“Hey mom.. Uhm its like 6 pm, just wondering when you’re getting home. No rush if you can’t, just a heads up would be nice.. Uhm see you at home.”

Izuku sighed and went to his room, sliding onto his desk and promptly beginning his homework, Maths, Home language, English and History homework. He could get this done quick!

_____

After finishing the torturous amount of work, Izuku glanced at the clock, his jaw nearly dropped. 12:23 am. He quickly got up and packed his bag for school, plugged his phone in and went to sleep.

Hopefully mom will be there in the morning. She definitely will be. She wont run off on him. Not before he can pay her back for everything.

Slowly drifting his eyes shut, Izuku fell asleep.
