Work Text:
Vee entered her room earlier than usual, quickly heading towards the bed. The bed that once used to be hers but now held the smell of certain crafty creature she has been calling her girlfriend for a while. A long while. Soo long it felt impossible to imagine living without her.
She fell heavily between the covers, directly facing the ceiling with her thoughts. As much as it couldn't answer her nor read her mind she couldn't imagine a better companion with whom to share this moment of silence with.
She has been thinking about it for some time now. They have been talking about it. Even though she never managed to overcome that one uncertainty, that stupid, little thought that always accompanied her, Scraps never thought of her as any less of a toon. She was simply her stupidly-lucky self. Her world was soo simple yet soo beautiful. She was always this loving person, with a purest heart, full of everlasting love for her brother and... Well.. Vee.
Sometimes she wanted to doubt it, she searched for any proof that would support her fears, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't find anything other than support and devotion in the other.
She looked to the side spotting one out of many pillows which fell victim to Scraps's claws. She smiled to herself as her mind went back to the memory of her girlfriend impaling marshmallows on each claw with tears in her eyes.
Vee's eyes went back to the celling, or rather a hole which Scraps accidentally made while showing just how long her tail can get. The truth was that it could scratch way further, plus it was surprisingly fast. Neither of them ever felt like fixing it and after a month or two during one of his visits, Goob placed two sticky eyes and a smile inside, happily naming it "Bob".
She sighed knowing she had around an hour or two left before Scraps's arrival. Adrenaline was both keeping her thoughts spinning and making her waste the little time she had.
Keeping things hidden from Scraps have always been hard. Ever since they begun dating her overflowing empathy spotted all the little changes in Vee. Keeping something as emotional as this a secret felt impossible, which left her with two possible options, play it safe and let the preparation take months or do it spontaneously.
She spent hours daydreaming. Just how would she like to do it. What would make it perfect.
She imagined it sweet but domestic. She wanted them to be alone in the privacy of their shared room, but she also wanted it to be somehow special. Not the "tv-show-host" special but the romantic but calm kind of special.
Getting up took way longer than it should. She blinked few times before fully concentrating on the task ahead. But once she started there was no coming back, no second thoughts, no a single second of hesitation in her movement.
She placed a speaker before clumsily climbing on the furniture to stick a little bowtie on a spot which could be considered "Bob's neck".
Calming tune begun to fill the room as Vee made her way to the wardrobe. She was currently looking for the matching pajamas Scraps once made for them.
A little smirk appeared on her face as she placed the folded pajama infront of the door with a small " put it on or I am not letting you in " note.
A few seconds later the strong light emitted by the main lamp in the room was replaced with the light of the television screen. She always thought of it as ironic, why would a walking television need a second three times bigger television in her room? Well at least for this one occasion she will use it of her own free will.
She lied down again, waiting. It honestly felt like an eternity had passed before she heard a surprised but amused voice on the other side of the door. A minute or two later a little giggle followed by a single knock on the door caused Vee a two second heart attack.
She opened the door slightly, analysis Scraps's outfit.
"You may enter"
"Why thank you kind miss" said Scraps before placing a small kiss on a side of her face, but before she could go any further Vee catched her hand, making her spin while closing the door behind her.
" How was your day, dear?" Vee asked while placing one of her hands on Scraps's hip pulling her into a slow dance of unorganized circles.
"Tiring, simply tiring. Fun fact! While I was on my way back, Poppy asked me if I would like to go somewhere with her and... And someone! I didn't even let her finish to be honest... I declined before she could complete the sentence!!! I'll have to apologise later.. Funny enough once I saw those clothes outside the door I knew I did the right thing. Even though it was unintentional." She laughed a little before pressing her forehead to Vee's.
"And yours?" She added while tangling their tails together.
"Short. I finished earlier today and well.. as you can see I had some plans regarding you or rather us."
She didn't elaborate but rather switched positions, she pulled Scraps into a tight hug. Even with the music on the room felt silent. It was just them in their room, in their world and then she slowly dragged Scraps down to a sitting position.
They sat there together for a while before Vee finally broke the silence. "You know, there is a part of me that always reminded me of how 'machine-like' I am" she begun while taking something out of her pocket "every time I hear that stupid full name of mine a part of me feels like reaping my screen of" she added while slightly shifting her position " My dearest and the luckiest contestant, would you like to help me with it?" She finished, holding a ring in her hand.
Before she knew it a familiar force brought her back into a suffocating embrace. "Of course I would."
