Work Text:
“Space truly is something else!” Louise exclaimed.
Anni arched a brow. “Explain, Blackbird.”
“Well, it stretches so far and we’ve barely explored any of it,” Louise stated.
“I see no reason to explore my creations, they are not made for me,” Anni replied flatly.
“I do! There are stars bigger than our current sun? Planets entirely made of ice? It’s absolutely amazing. Just imagine the stories I could make!” Louise said excitedly.
Anni waved their hand. “Very well, go explore then.”
Louise deflated. “Ah, my apologies Creator, I don’t mean to ramble on, I just really admire your work.”
“Apology not needed. I understand to the naive mind the contents of space and the universe as a whole seems enticing and new. In truth, the universe is a chaotic sandbox that will suck you into the depths below and pile in your lungs. The sand will get stuck in every part of your being. The more you see and feel it, the more tired you become of it until you accept it as a part of you that can never be undone. Indifference is your savior.”
Louise stood silently for a few moments. “I-I don’t understand what that means.”
“Of course you wouldn’t. Stick to the Earth, Blackbird. It suits you.”
“Affermative.”
Louise left Anni to their work and made a mental note to not bring up space with them ever again.
