Work Text:

Saturn and Beam walk into the elevator.

“Beam isn’t this exciting? We are going on an adventure!” Saturn squealed as she turned to the lamp.

“Oh, yes.” Beam murmured as she looked at the floor.

Saturn’s eyebrows furrow as she sees this. “Beam are you alright?”

Beam looks up at Saturn, “Y-Yes, I’m fine, just a bit nervous.” Beam whispered.

“Huh? Why?” Saturn questioned Beam.

“Well, no one knows what happens in the upper floors.” Beam stutters.

Beam then leans closer to the planet. “I also heard some strange noises coming from there.” Beam whispered to Saturn.

Saturn’s eyebrows furrowed even more as her mouth turned down into a frown.

“Really?” Saturn asked.

“Really.” Beam answered.

Saturn shook her head and smiled. “Ah, you are such an anxious star! I’m sure it was nothing.” Saturn reassured Beam.

“But what if something is up there?” Beam breathed.

“I’m sure it’s nothing.” Saturn giggled as she put a hand to her mouth.

‘I hope it’s nothing.’ Saturn thought to herself.

———————

Beam looked around for the last machine. She walked into a room with a bed and another door that was open.

She walked into the other room and there she found the last machine.

“Finally.” Beam breathed as she walked over to it.

Beam pulled on the red lever and the machine started to power up.

Beam heard footsteps coming into the room, she looked over to the doorway to see Saturn.

“Hello Beam! Ah, it seems like you are repairing the last machine!” Saturn giggled as she put her arm behind her and a hand covering her mouth.

Beam turned back to the machine as she answered. “Yes, i am.”

Saturn made her way to the window and looked outside it. Into the storm.

“You know. The storm is so very soothing to me.” Saturn said as she put a hand onto the window.

“It’s the only thing that never changes.” Saturn said as her eyes light started to fade away.

“It’s one of the only things that can help me calm down after the hotel stopped having guests.”

Beam’s eyes looked up to Saturn. They both just sat in silence.
.
.
.

“You shouldn’t put your hand on the window Saturn, you could leave a hand mark on it.” Beam calmly scolded Saturn after a long pause as her eyes looked back to the machine.

“Oh my, my apologies. I seem to have been carried away.” Saturn apologized as she snapped back into reality, bringing her hand that was once on the window to her chest.

“It’s fine, but make sure you pull away from that habit.” Beam murmured as her eyes focused on the skill check.

Saturn hummed as her eyes turned to Beam. Staring at her for just a bit too long.

Beam, noticing the eyes on her, turned to Saturn. “Is there something on my lightbulb? Or is there something wrong with my clothes?” Beam questioned Saturn.

Then she murmured to herself, “Of course there is something wrong with my outfit. Who chooses light blue and sea blue with light purple? I look like a mess.”

Beam turned back to Saturn. “I’m so sorry for looking-“ Beam began but Saturn cut her off.

“No.” Saturn blurted.

“What?” Beam said.

Confused silence coated the both of them.

Beam’s eyes widened just a little bit in shock as she looked at Saturn in the eyes.

“O-Oh I’m sorry.” Saturn stuttered as she put her arms to her sides.

“It’s just, thats not the reason why I was staring.” Saturn whispered as she balled her hands into fists as she brought both of them to her chest.

“I was just looking at you because you looked, pretty.” Saturn swollowed when she finished talking.

“Oh,” Beam sighed in relief. “don’t scare me like that.” Beam said as her mouth showed the faintest ghost of a smile.

As soon as Beam said that the machine finished. The elevator doors opening with a loud “Ding!” Signaling it was time to go into the elevator.

Saturn and Beam both perked up at the noise.

They both ran.

————————

Beam and Saturn walked out of the elevator, Beam, looking to her left and right. She went to her right while Saturn went right.

Beam walked to the open door with a sign that said “PRIVATE”

She put her hands on the machine and started to pull.

Beam looked to her right and left as she fixed the machine.

The doors were open and anything could come inside.

Beam suddenly heard a very familiar melody.

A very slow, sad melody.

Beams eyes widened as she realized where that song came from.

Suddenly Beam heard a scream.

Saturn’s scream.

Beam’s body started shaking as she looked around, trying to find the source of the scream.

When she looked right she saw Saturn,

with spirit Twilight running after her.

Beam’s body started shaking even more as her breaths started to become faster and faster.

Saturn barreled past Beam and turned a corner.

Beam’s mind was racing.

‘Is she going to be alright?’

‘She is a fast runner I’m sure she will be fine.’

‘But what if Twilight catches her?’

‘That won’t happen.’

‘Saturn is much faster than me.’

‘She has running shoes on.’

‘SHE WILL BE-‘

A piercing scream echoed through put the hallway.

Just past the corner she went through.

Just past the corner Saturn ran through with Twilight chasing her.

Her scream cut short with noises of cracking and squelching and ripping.

Beam fell to her knees.

Tears running down.

She scrambled as she tried to get back on her feet.

Failing each time.

She crawled out of the private room, through the hall, to the corner, when she got to the corner she held onto the wall for assistance as she got to her feet.

Beam looked down.

Saturns body was the only thing she could see.

Her head was caved in. Blood everywhere, on the doors, carpets, EVERYTHING.

Her head, her head… Her eyes looked to be too far in her skull. The eyes filled with nothing but void.

Her ring broken and shattered on the floor, some pieces in her head.

Her arm was ripped off and her chest had a whole inside of it.

Her limbs were bent in a way that wasn’t possible.

SATURN WAS DEAD.

SHE WAS DEAD.

IT’S HER FAULT.

IF ONLY BEAM HADN’T JUST STOOD THERE WATCHING.

SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN WAS DEAD. SATURN-

You are so self-centered.

Only caring for yourself.

Never helping anyone in need.

Just standing there. Terrified.

You’re the reason why she is dead.

You could have stopped it.

But no,

You just had to watch as Saturn ran through the halls.

You are selfish.

Arrogant.

Dishonest.

Greedy.

Cruel.

Lazy.

Insolent.

Childish.

Incompetent.

You murderer.

You killed her.

You annoying little bug.

You killed her and YOU feel terrified?

You are a horrible, indolent, insolent, star.

No wonder everyone probably hates you.

Beam let out a loud, anguished, hoarse, scream.

It attracted all the spirits.

Beam fell to her knees once again, but this time, she isn’t getting back up.

Music loomed over Beam.

Beam turned around to meet spirit Twilight.

Beam let out a quiet sob as she shook.

Her hands near her head as she closed her eyes.

Prepared for whats to come.

“I’m so sorry Saturn.” Beam’s raw voice cuts through the low and slow music.

Only the spirits heard her apology.
