Work Text:
Music loomed over Beam.
Beam turned around to meet spirit Twilight.
Beam let out a quiet sob as she shook.
Beam scrambled to her feet and ran.
Ran, ran, ran.
Until the music faded.
Beam walked into a room, closed the door, and sat in a corner.
Beam put her knees to her chest and she put her bulb on her knees.
Quiet sobs echoed through-out the abandoned the hotel.
Only the spirits wailing answered.

“I need to finish the last machine.” Beam’s hoarse voice whispered to herself at last.
Her face morphs into a manic smile.
“Saturn never came with me to the upper floors.” Beam breathed to herself.
“She never came with me.” Beam murmured to herself.
“She is fine.” Beam said.
Beam got up, the smile still on her face, as she walked out of the room and onwards to find the last machine.
Beam rubbed her arms as she walked through the hallways.
Finally setting on the last door.
She walked in, finding the last machine there.
She sighed in relief.
Beam walked to the machine and started to pull on the red lever.
The rain, thunder, and the spirits cry’s echoing though-out.
—————————
As Beam walked into the elevator her head started to spin.
When the doors finally closed behind her she let herself fall onto her knees.
Beam started to cry, in all the pain, fear, and happiness.
She held her face in her hands.
The boxes inside the elevators walls began to open, only,
Twilight was not there to greet her, or to sell her anything.
—————————
Beam got to her feet and turned around to find only the hallway of stars rooms.
Everyone turned to face Beam, their eyes widening in shock as they saw her in all of the mess she was.
Blood was on her hands, feet, knees, legs, hands, and some on her face. Tears cascading down her cheeks.
She looked horrified, she looked like she saw a death of someone dear.
They all crowded herSaturn, all asking questions.
“Where’s ?”
“What happened to you?”
“Why do you have blood all over yourself?”
Beam only stared into the distance, that was until Ringo came.
Ringo grabbed both of her hands and pressed them together.
“Lady Beam, what happened on the exploration on higher floors?” He said, confusion, worry, and fear all on his face.
Beam shook her head and she came to terms with where she was. Then she looked at Ringo. After a beat of silence, she opened her mouth.
“They, T-They killed her.” Beam said, her voice breaking with every word, her raw, hoarse, terrified, voice showing more than what was actually spoken.
Everyone gasped at the sentence Beam had said.
Beam broke down into sobs as Ringo hugged her.
Tock raised his voice, “Ringo, take Beam to her room and help her.” He said, his voice firm but comforting.
Ringo gently grabbed Beam’s shoulder and led her to her room.
They left all the stars that were whispering, tearing up, and shouting.
Ringo and Beam stopped at her room.
“Last Beam, if you need any assistance with anything, I would gladly help.” Ringo comforted Beam.
“T-Thank you Ringo,” Beam stuttered as she put her hand onto the door knob.
“But I would prefer if I was left alone for the time being. Though, thank you.” Beam murmured as she opened her door.
“Alright, but feel free to knock on my door, even if it is late. I wish to help you in any way I can.” Ringo said.
“Thank you, Ringo.” Beam said as she closed the door. Beam looked around her room and sighed.
Her walls were a light purple, so was her carpet. She had shelves holding all her favorite books, trophy’s, and some notebooks she had written in.
Her bed was in the middle of the room, in front of her, a queen bed was what she saw.
Her shelves next to each side of the bed. On the right side a dresser could be found. A dark shade of purple.
On the left side of her room a door to her bathroom is there. Beam walked over to her dresser, grabbing her robe, and closed the dresser again.
Beam then walked over to her bathroom, opened the door and closed it, and locked it behind her.
She set her robe on her hanger and took off her clothes. Beam walked to her bath and turned it on.
She put both her feet in and plugged the drain. Beam sat in the tub as warm water started to fill the bathtub.
“Baths in this weather are so comforting…” Beam murmured to herself.
“It’s sad to think I couldn’t have baths if I wasn’t built to be waterproof.” Beam quietly whispered as she looked out her window.
The storm still rained on.
‘“Don’t worry, the storm never passes!” Is what Twilight used to say when someone brought up the weather.’ Beam thought to herself.
‘I guess she was right.’ Beam sighed.
Beam turned off the faucet. Beam then leaned back and closed her eyes.
‘Don’t think about her, don’t think about her, don’t think about her, don’t think about her.’ Beam repeated the same sentence in her head.
Beam started to get a headache.
Beam turned off her thoughts and just laid in the water.
———————
After Beam finished up her bath, Beam dried herself, put on her robe, unlocked the door, turned off the lights, and walked to her bed.
Beam got under her covers and started at her ceiling.
Beam started to feel the tears piling on her eyes.
‘I’m too tired to fight it.’ Beam’s tears fell into her pillow.
Too tired to fight it, too tired to full-on break down. Sound familiar?
Beam closed her eyes. ‘I’m so tired. I hope I don’t wake up, or at least, not for long time.
Beam’s thoughts stopped.
———————-
Beam heard a knock at her door.
“Lady Beam? Are you resting?” Ringo asks.
Beam sat straight up.
“A-ah! Yes! Coming! Hold on one minute!” Beam exclaims as she pulls her blankets off of her.
Beam walks to her door and opens it.
Ringo greets her.
He is wearing a matching striped red shirt and pants. A candle in his hand.
“O-Oh, Lady Beam, did I wake you? Deepest apologies. I should get going-“ Ringo stutters.
She tilts her head. “Oh, no it’s quite alright Ringo, also, you don’t have to call me “Lady Beam” all the time.” Beam says.
“It is my duty.” Ringo replied, staring at Bea.
“What is it that you wanted to talk to me about, Ringo?” Beam questioned Ringo.
“A-Ah, I think I should discuss it with you at a later date. Good night to Lady Beam!” Ringo said as he sped walked to his room.
Beam watched him go. ‘I wonder what got him so flustered.’ Beam thought as she put a hand on her cheek.
Beam closed her door and locked it. When Beam was about to go to bed she caught a glimpse at herself though her mirror, right when it thundered.
Beam gasped. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
‘No, no, no, no, no.” Beam repeated the word in her head as she opened her bathroom door and turned on the light.
Beam almost fainted at what she saw.
Beam was an absolute mess! Her robe was slipping off showing her shoulder, and the bags on her eyes were extra noticeable!
Thats why Ringo ran off! It was because she looked like a different person! How unsightly!
‘I can never recover from this!’ Beam screamed in her head as she ran out the bathroom, turning off the light and closing the door on her way out, and jumping to her bed.
Beam buried her head in her pillows. Kicking her feet and her face flushed in embarrassment.
‘Stupid Beam! What will he think of you know!’ Beam thought to herself. ‘My reputation is going to be ruined!’ Beam thought as she kicked.
After kicking her feelings out, Beam finally got back under her blankets and closed her eyes.
——————
Beam woke up. She sat up in her bed, looking around.
Beam slumped back in her bed, remembering what had happened last night.
‘How embarrassing! How could I show that side of myself to him! No one should ever have the displeasure of seeing me like that!’ Beam thought to herself as she put her head in her hands.
‘Ringo probably thinks of me as an unsightly woman! How horrible!’ Beam thought as she started shaking her head.
‘I don’t want to go out my room..’ Beam thought. ‘But I feel ever so hungry!’ Beam sighed.
‘I have to go outside one way or another.’ Beam pulled her covers off of her and walked to her dresser.
Beam pulled off her robe and put on a striped black-and-white shirt, then she grabbed a long, lilac skirt, and put it on. Beam then got a long dark purple sweater. Finally, Beam then put on her signature purple scarf.
Beam walked over to her mirror.
‘There isn’t anything I can do about my eyebags..’ Beam thought to herself.
Beam walked to her door and opened it.
Beam walked to the main room, where most of the stars are in their free time.
When Beam walked in all eyes went to her.
Ringo walked over to her.
“Lady Beam, are you sure you know what you saw?” Ringo asks Beam.
Beam’s eyes go wide in shock, “Y-Yes, of course! I would never lie!” Beam breathed out in a hushed tone.
“Are you certain?” Ringo asked, in a worried tone.
“Of course I’m certain, didn’t you see me when I left that elevator?” Beam whispered.
“Lady Beam, I didn’t see Saturn go up with you into the elevator. And I still see wounds on you.” Ringo calmed Beam.
“Perhaps your mind fabricated that Saturn came with you to lessen the pain.” Ringo said.
“But, thats preposterous!” Beam whisper-yelled. “If it were true, wouldn’t fabricating Saturn’s death be more harmful?” Beam finished. ‘I only said to myself that she didn’t come up with me.’ Beam thought.
Ringo sighed. “Tock explained your situation, you do not have to go to the upper floors.”
‘What? What does he mean by Tock explained my situation?’ Beam thought to herself.
“Now, let’s get you something to eat, Lady Beam.” Ringo said as he put his hand on her shoulder and let her into the kitchen.
Ringo murmured something about Beam being crazy.
That hurt.
————————-
Timeskip where basically Beam convices, Yang, Ringo, and Perfy to come with her to the upper floors after mostly staying in her room for a week trying to process what happened :/ also I wrote when I was about to fall asleep so if something doesn’t make sense then uhhh idk man I’m not fixing it 💔
————————-
Yang, Ringo, Perfy, and Beam all step into the elevator.
“Let’s go, everyone!” Perfy exclaimed as the elevator doors opened.
Beam used her ability and ran to one of the machines, picking up snacks, and other items while on her way.
Everyone runs in a different detection.
Beam walks over to the machine. She pulls the red lever and the rings start glowing, one by one.
After Beam was done doing her machine she heard talking on her walkie talkie.
“Lady’s and gentlemen! I am on the last machine!” Perfy’s voice resounded though the item. “Please make your way to the elevator doors!” Perfy finished.
Beam started walking to the elevator, she turned on the walkie talkie. “Perfy, you don’t have to be in character all the time.” Beam said.
Perfy’s voice responded. “I must practice! After all, I am a star!” Perfy said.
Beam chuckled. “Alright.” Beam murmured. She turned off the walkie talkie as she met Yang and Ringo at the elevator doors.
Yand, Ringo and Beam talked while they waited for Perfy to be finished.
Then they heard a ding and walked into the elevator.
They stayed there, waiting.
Then they heard a scream.
A familiar scream.
A female scream.
Perfy’s scream.
Everyone’s eyes widened at what they saw.
Perfy was being chased by a spirit, not just any spirit.
Doc’s Spirit.
“Perfy!” Beam screamed as she walked forward, holding her arms out.
Perfy reached out.
Beam and Perfy colided.
Beam grabbed Perfy and shoved her into the elevator with her.
Beam and Perfy fell onto the floor, Beam turned her back to the elevators doors, to the spirit.
She closed her eyes.
A huge gust of wind hit Beam’s back. She heard the spirit scream.
The elevators doors closed before the spirit could get in.
Beam opened her eyes as soon as the wind stopped.
She looked around.
Beam was on her knees, in front of her was Perfy, on her behind, hugging Beam with all her might.
Perfy was safe.
She was safe.
She isn’t dead,
Perfy is not dead.
They are safe, for now.
“Perfy! Are you alright?” Beam questioned her. Beam put her hands on Perfy’s face and cradled it.
Perfy’s eyes widened, Perfy put her hands on top of Beam’s hands. “Y-Yes, I’m alright.” She said.
Beam looked at Ringo and Yang.
“Do you believe me now?” She asked them.
“W-Well, we need more proof.” Ringo stuttered.
Yang turned to Ringo. “Are you insane? Perfy was chased down by Yin! Are you are saying she needs more proof?” Yang yelled at Ringo.
“Well-“ Ringo began, but he was interrupted by the ding of the doors opening.
To another floor.
“I’m fine. I can continue. People have been chased by spirits all the time.” Perfy murmured.
Beam turned to Perfy. “Perfy! It is not fine!” Beam exclaimed.
Beam removed her hands from Perfy’s face and put one of her own onto the side of her head, massaging a headache that was about to come.
All of the stars walked out of the elevator and into the hallway.
Beam used her ability and ran to the nearest machine she could see.
All of them ran in different defections again, in silence.
————————————
Beam found the last machine.
She turned on the radio.
“I’m on the last machine.” She said.
No one answered.
‘It’s expected. We did just have a quabble.’ Beam thought to herself.
‘Is it though?’
‘Maybe they just don’t like me.’
‘What about Perfy? She likes me.’
‘She only hangs out with you out of charity.’
‘Ringo?’
‘He only does it out of kindness.’
‘W-What about Yang?’
‘He barely knows you.’
Beam's thoughts crowded her as she tried to fix the machine.
Ding!
It’s finished.
Go to the elevator.
Beam ran to the elevator.
No one was in the elevator.
Once Beam stepped into the elevator it closed behind her.
No one is in the elevator.
Where are they?
Where are they?
Where?
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead. They are dead.
It’s all your fault.
You killed them like you killed Saturn.
You should die.
Murderer.
You don’t deserve to live.
You are sick.
Pathetic.
You can’t even give anything to the world.
You just take, take, take.
Useless.
Beam sat in her bed, looking at the ceiling. Feeling the weight of their deaths and her sins on her limbs
