Work Text:
My Isabelle, my Heroine
Of our own disturbing tale
A maiden pure of thought and blood
A maiden young and pale
I forced myself to stay away
I bid our love adieu
In my haste forgetting
That I was heroin for you
And now we live in hopeless love
And riveting despair
My very kiss is poison
But you fly too high to care
A bell, a ring, in some form
The bells will ring for us
A wedding or a funeral
The same amount of fuss
You beg for immortality
But I shall not relent
My heroin is humanity
And humanity is your scent
With every hammer of your pulse,
I hear blood’s beguiling sigh:
“Eat, eat me, Soul,
And thou shalt never die”
Little lamb, God bless thee
Little lamb, God bless thee
