Work Text:

Okay, Mai was experienced in catching people, but not ending lives. She was intimidating— she could use her confidence and strength to fold men twice her size.

But she was never asked to, you know, actually kill a person. Especially one from out of country. Maybe it was just a joke, but she remembers that day like it was yesterday;

Shigeki sent her a tiktok of one of Charlie Kirk's debates, then said "we gotta kill this guy, mai"

She thought he was joking at first. But, as the days passed, the idea grew on her. So, she called Shigeki.

"Hey Shige, wanna go to Utah next September?"

"Should we really go to America by plane in September, though?"

"I mean, yeah, they got airport security now."

"Okay, then yeah."

He was easier to convince than she thought he'd be. Shigeki didn't even like America, why the hell was he agreeing? That was something to think about later, though.

August passed, and eventually it was time for them to board the plane— thankfully, it was not the eleventh, so they got there safely. Mai had booked a hotel room for the two of them in advance.

Shigeki found this out of the ordinary. Of all the vacation places, why Utah? And why in September, after the perfect summer days had already passed? Maybe Mai just wanted to go somewhere cheaper— but that made no sense, Shigeki would've pitched in if she had asked.

The next day, Shigeki was once more scrolling through tiktok, his brain probably completely rotted by now. He had a matcha on the night stand, and in his left hand, he fidgeted with a labubu. He sent Mai another tiktok.

"You don't have to send me tiktoks, I'm right next to you," She replied, rolling over in the bed they shared. "I saw this already."

"Isn't it crazy how Kirk is in Utah? And so are we? I kind of want to debate him."

"Yeah, Shige— no. You can't debate for shit."

"I'm not that bad, and you know it.." He tried pouting, but the smile on his face gave it away. He knew Mai was right.

"Okay, anyways, when's that?"

"Hm.. September 10th. Why?"

"No reason."

Mai lied. She disliked lying to people, especially Shigeki, but it was a necessary evil. September 10th, huh? That's tomorrow. Fine. She can get something figured out by then.

It wasn't hard. She just bought a gun from Walmart— why do they have guns in Walmart? And then her plan could finally go through. She had the ammo, the bullets, the arms and the weapons for the job, why not take one for the team?

The next day, Mai woke up bright and early, ready to shoot Charlie Kirk. In a bag, she stuffed everything she thought they'd need— water, the gun, the bullets, and... thats pretty much it.

She forced Shigeki awake, shaking him by the shoulders.

"Wake up. We're gonna kill Charlie Kirk."

"We— WE are gonna KILL CHARLIE KIRK?????????!!!!!"
