Summary
After the disastrous ball at Featherington House during which Penelope loses her friendship with Eloise and Colin in one night, Penelope realizes she has no one. In a moment of desperation brought on by loneliness, she writes a letter to someone she thought she would never correspond with again.
Months later, when Colin discovers Penelope is Lady Whistledown, a tear runs down his cheek as he confronts his fiancée in the street. Colin’s pain is something Penelope cannot abide, and she vows to never again be the cause of it. There is only one place she can think to go.
