Work Text:
Kal was bored. Which, for others, usually ends in problems, but for him it mean that he needs to find something new to do because he’s not got a contract and he’s not got training so he’s not really sure what to do. He could go visit Lucas, but the dwarf told him to stay out of the kitchen today. Maybe he should go explore Treviso? Surely, there’ll be something interesting to do.
Humming, he gets up. “Don’t get into trouble.” Dad calls from the hallway without stopping. They both know that’s not going to happen. He shrugs, strolling on out of the manor with barely a care.
Treviso rings with the usual night sounds, complete with the mild stink of the canals and faint smell of blood in the air. Leaning against the railing of one of the higher rooftops, Kal picks up the sound of something not quiet right. It’s over there, towards the bay.
Grinning, Kal tears off towards the bay. With any luck, he won’t have to get anywhere near that horrible water. This’ll at the very least be interesting for a few minutes!
His magic buzzes at his feet, propelling him through the sky. There! On the shore! Why’s there a bunch of Qunari? And why are they dressed like that? He’s never seen anyone like that before.
He lands on one of the rooftops nearby, listening to them speak in a language he doesn’t understand. They have a mage with them. No. Three mages. There. Near the water. They’re…
Kal’s gaze hardens. Ah. That’s what’s going on. These are the Qunari who follow that stupid religion of theres. They probably want his city, too. Judging by how they treat their mages, they won’t even suspect him.
What’s the best way to deal with them?
Hm? What’s that? It looks like a message, but Kal has no way to know for sure.
Pulling at his magic, Kal goes for the mages first. The least he can do is put them out of that tortured misery. Crashing down, the area around him explodes with magic, killing the three mages in a moment. Cries sound out around him.
An axe comes for his head, but they’ve gotta be quicker than that. Kal grins, the air around him singing with his electricity. He slides around it, grabbing the man’s leg and sending enough electric into him to fry a dragon in seconds.
Three of them come at him, shouting and swinging at him. He has to shoot himself into the air to avoid a swift decapitation. Oooo. These guys are strong! They’re fun to fight. Grinning happily, Kal shoots at the nearest one, sharpening some magic into a static blade. He slices a throat, then bounds back as a blade nicks his arm.
Turning to the one that got him, he cocks his head before launching himself into the next one.
Kal stands in a pile of corpses with blood running down his body and adrenaline coursing through his veins in the silence after his battle. He hasn’t had such a great workout in a while! Maybe he can even get Dad to give him a contract!
Wait. There was that paper somewhere, right? Dad’s probably going to want that. He should shuffle through their shit and find anything of value. There’s a few pieces a gold, a copper, fifteen neat nick-nacks, an old dwarven signet ring, and a stack of papers he gathered that are all splattered in blood.
Shoving them all into his magical pocket, Kal walks back into town feeling pleased with himself.
He slows as he’s once more surrounded by buildings. Dad’s not going to like it if he strolls back into and ends up breaking something. He should find a way to deal with all this fun buzzy energy.
Kal blinks. It’s late enough. Maybe he can find a pretty noble boy to fuck? There’s usually a few around and most of them seem eager. His ears pick up the sound of someone grumbling as their quiet footsteps make their way towards him. Kal finds himself heading towards them without a moment to waste.
There, in the darkness, comes a short-haired man in fine clothes. Definitely a noble. Cute, too. He’ll do.
Kal approaches the noble. “Hey. Wanna fuck?”
The man stops in his tracks, staring at him with an incredulous gaze. “…Excuse me?” Which part of that was confusing?
“You want a good fuck?” Kal backs the man up against a wall, tempted, but waiting for him to decide. He can see the shorter man thinking.
The man sighs, then catches his gaze. “After the weeks I’ve had? Why not.” Kal smirks, turning the man around and getting into his pants.
Kal yawns, strolling into the villa with his usual swagger. “Kal?”
“Moni! Dad around?”
His brother blinks thoughtfully before answering. “Da—“ The younger elf flushes pink. “Viago should be in his office, still.” Kal ruffles his brother’s hair before moving off. If Dad’s still in his office that’ll make everything so much easier.
Kal finds the office easily enough, hearing Dad moving about inside. “Dad!” Kal slams the door open, “Got you something!”
“Kalias. Why are you covered in bl—“ He watches Dad visibly sniff. “Who did you find this time? Do you have any idea how hard it is to get the non-Crow nobles off your back?”
He shrugs not really caring. “Found these.” He pulls out the stack of papers. “Dunno what they are but I found them on a bunch of Qunari on the coast.” Dad’s brow furrows as he looks over the pages.
“Monello!” Dad calls, scribbling something down. Moni slides around the corner, looking at them curiously. “Deliver this to the First Talon.” Dad sighs, turning back to him. He doesn’t say anything, but Kal knows what he’s thinking.
Kal smirks, heading out to find a bed to collapse into. Today was so much fun!
