Omega and her new best friend, the most famous Rebel?
Omega, was totally giddy.
“Calm down Megs, it’s just a guy, not a god for kark’s sake!”
“Yeah, but, he’s so cool, Hera! I’ve heard all the stories about him and he is exactly the kind of rogue cool person I want to be too.”
“Rogue, is not always good.”
“Well, it worked for me and my brothers. It worked for you and your family as well. So what’s the problem?”
“Yeah, well, you’ve got me there. But, we’re older now and we all know better than to act all rogue. Planning is key, usually.”
“Guess so. Still, he is pretty cool. What he and his team did in the beginning of the Rebellion, can’t beat that!”
“His team? Omega, it was Leia’s team. Please, check your facts, okay!”
“Oh? Not what I have heard.”
“Sure it was, Leia is the General, used to be a Princess. She was among the prominent leaders of the Rebellion! Han Solo was simply one of her crew. And now, she is a Senator! So give credit where it's due.”
Hera certainly taking this a tad personally. But she did idolise Leia, so there was that!
“Well, that is cool. Leia is sassy and all. But, still, Solo… yeah, he is cool too. I mean sure, Luke and Chewbacca, General Kenobi, all of them were part of the blowing up the first Death Star and all, but well, guess they were all great and cool and what not.”
Omega pulled a wee of her enthusiasm and fan-girling back.
“Guess so.”
“So, when is he arriving again?”
“The shuttle should be here soon enough. Unless it’s late like usual.”
“Great!”
“Look, Omega, just…”
“What?”
“Well, they say it’s never good to meet one’s heroes.”
“Who says?”
“Some do. But, not the point. The point is, he is older now, grumpier too and guess, well, Solo isn’t much into fans. So, can you please, tone it down a bit?”
“I… sure. I’ll be cool. Cool like… Solo!” Omega tried to imitate a male voice as she said it.
Hera simply rolled her eyes.
“Hey, that’s it!”
They both observed the shuttle land. And soon enough, a familiar face, the one from all the holovids Omega had seen, appeared. With his furry companion by his side, naturally.
“Han, over here!” Hera shouted and waved at the arrivals.
Han and Chewy walked to the duo.
“Hera! Good to see ya!”
Han hugged Hera, as did Chewbacca.
“So, who’s your friend then?” Han asked seeing Omega there.
“This, is Omega. She was part of the Rebellion too, later on. A great pilot she is.”
“Oh, well, then, nice to meet you Omega. I am sure you and I will have some interesting discussions. Some stories to share!”
“Yes! Sir!” Omega felt so giddy she was ready to blow a casket!
“Just, Han.”
“Han.” Omega repeated.
“So tell me, Omega, which ships did you fly…?”
“Well, I started with the X-Wings, but then, we found this abandoned factory and there were new ships there… they were unfinished. But thankfully, we managed to fix them and so we got new ships to fly and all. They were so fast…”
Hera rolled her eyes, but Han immediately took to liking of the younger woman. Hera, was glad about it though, knowing how picky Han really was about new people, about strangers.
The two, Han and Omega were walking and chatting like old friends soon enough. Followed by Hera and Chewy hot on their tails. There was a meeting with Leia first, then a meet and greet with other friends of Han’s on the agenda later on.
“Guess it was good for Omega to meet her hero after all.”
Chewy let out a sound, of agreement. Or then not?
“You can say that again!”
Chewy smirked, but he too was happy Han liked Omega. After all, she was Hera and Leia’s friend so, all in the family, right?
