Work Text:

The air was cold and bitter. Alix could feel the full force of the wind howling at her, as she was wearing only a simple t-shirt and shorts… she had never intended to leave the house on this cold winter evening, but she couldn’t spend another minute in that apartment with either her brother or father.

What gave them the right to be mad at her? How was she supposed to know what day this way? How can she mourn for a person she never truly knew? Sure, she understood why the pair spent the day grieving, but that doesn’t mean she had to spend it with them. Alix hated the idea of faking emotions, she was not going to feel sad for a person she never knew… because that feels like she was being disrespectful. But when she said that fact to her father and brother, they looked at her like she was the bad guy for saying it and both of them started to berate her, as if she had committed a cardinal sin.

So in that moment, she did the only thing that felt right to her at that moment and ran out the house. In hindsight this wasn’t very smart as it was a cold evening and she ran out without anything on her person at all, she was phoneless, wallet-less and skate-less.

She was a runaway, she was too stubborn to turn back and face her father, but equally she knew that she would be dead if she stayed on the streets. But then something incredible happened, she recognized where she was in Paris, as the familiar smell of pastry filled her nostrils.

Marinette’s bakery! On instinct Alix rushed into the warmth without even thinking.

“Sorry but we are just about to close!” Alix heard a voice call out from behind the counter. “I’ll go check papa.” Another voice said as the sound of footsteps grew louder.

Marinette soon appeared from behind the counter, holding what looked to be a shaker of sprinkles. “Alix?” Marinette said with a mixture of surprise and confusion.

Upon hearing her name, Alix broke down crying, all the feelings she was holding back could no longer be kept from rushing out as she just let it all go in that moment.

While the world around her was closed off, she heard the faint sound of something being dropped on the floor, followed by the sound of hundreds more hitting against the same floor. As she then felt the warmth of someone hugging her tightly, this warmth melted away the cold from Alix’s body as she was consumed by it. Then she smelt the homely smell of egg and flour as they grounded her in that moment. She then tastes something sweet on her lips as she can tell that Marinette had been trying a few of the treats, before Alix had arrived.

She finally opens her eyes as she watches Marinette part from the kiss, she just gave Alix. “Marinette! But you were the one who wanted to keep us a secret!” Alix said as she noticed both of Marinette’s Parents looking at them with a set of curious smiles. “It was the only way to bring you back to me.” Marinette as Alix would normally roll her eyes at the mushiness of Marinette’s words, but she was too tired for the snark.

“What happened?” Marinette’s words dripped with concern that Alix couldn’t even stop herself from being honest with them. “I ran away from home…” Alix didn’t even get a chance to say anything more Marinette dragged her back into another hug.

It was during this hug that Alix noticed something , she could see a sprinkle in Marinette’s hair.

The rainbow coloured speck stood out in the sea of bluey black hair and in that moment that was all Alix focused on, as she knew everything was going to be okay.

At least she hoped.

Notes:

Don't worry she makes up with her father... Marinette would 100% be the mediate of this conversation
