“I told you,” Ocelot’s voice was low. He stepped into Kaz’s personal space, standing between his knees. Kaz flinched into stillness and glared up at him, his vision pulsed with a white haze as regret seeped through him, “this is specialist training, Miller.”

The year is 1981, half way through the 9-year gap between Big Boss being comatose and Venom awakening. Kaz knows he needs to be prepared for the moment that Boss wakes up, and that means making sure he stays alive behind enemy lines, if he should ever find himself there. Ocelot has valuable skills, skills that he is willing to impart on Kaz in the only way he knows how- via a demonstration where Kaz finds himself the subject.
