   Summary

   California’s gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.

   Katsuki expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, he survives by keeping his hatred alive. And what he hates most are the men who use him, leaving he empty and dead inside.

   Then he meets Midoriya Izuku. A man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything, Midoriya obeys God’s call to marry Katsuki and to love him unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Katsuki’s every bitter expectation, until despite his resistance, his frozen heart begins to thaw.

   But with his unexpected softening come overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Katsuki runs. Back to the darkness, away from his husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth he no longer can deny: His final healing must come from the One who loves him even more than Midoriya does … the One who will never let him go.
