Work Text:
1. On The Phone
It was a quiet day during training, nothing unusual for a pre-season training, with half the team getting pulled into meetings with one medical professional or another after their long break. Sam was lying on his back in the center bench of the dressing room staring at the “Believe” sign upside down. Sam was knackered from the first day back, with what felt like a thousand check-ins with a thousand different staffers and catching up with the team and learning the minute details of every last second of their break.
Sam signed as he heard a pair of boots recklessly clamor and jump into the dressing room. “Hello there lad, I’ve missed your beautiful face today,” came the chipper voice of Jamie Tartt. Sam lazily lifted himself on his arms, not fully sitting up, shooting a puzzled look at Jamie. Jamie caught Sam’s eye and looked around the empty room before he started wiping at his face. “What are you looking at me like that for? Is there something on me face?”
Sam chuckled and smiled before flopping back down on the bench. “You’re very chipper today and I am very tired.”
Jamie paused and ruffled through his locker before turning back round to Sam. “Mate, you’ll never believe what Keeley turned me onto. It’s this thing called matcha. It’s like a tea or sumthing. Or a green coffee. I don’t know. But Keeley says it has health benefits and so I had three in her office.”
Sam grinned because Jamie definitely pronounced matcha wrong, although having three of them definitely explains his current energy. Although sometimes Sam wondered if all the hard work and training just fueled Jamie’s energy as much as it drained Sam’s.
Sam felt Jamie sit on the bench near his thigh, so he tucked his leg out of Jamie’s way. “Here look at this,” was barely processed before Sam felt a phone shoved millimeters from his face.
Sam rolled onto his side to face Jamie, resting his head on his hand, still mostly horizontal. Sam grabbed Jamie’s phone from his hand. “The 5 Proven Health Benefits of Matcha,” Sam read out loud off Jamie’s phone.
Jamie tilted his head to the side, “so that’s how you say it huh?”. Sam laughed before silently continuing to read the article. “No, no,” Jamie wagged his finger at Sam. “Out loud, I want to hear you read out all the facts I already know.” Sam chuckled and kicked Jamie’s thigh with his calf.
The pair of them giggled as Sam read the rest of the article out loud to Jamie. Jamie could barely let Sam read through a sentence before he would spout off a fact about matcha, or tea, or hot drinks in general. Jamie’s facts got increasingly outlandish and Sam wasn’t sure if half of them were remotely true, but he was having too much fun goofing off to verify any of it.
2. On The Bus
Jamie sat in the last row on the bus, pouting as he waited for the rest of the team to filter on. He had come to the club 3 hours early so that he could have a session with Dr. Sharon before the team headed to Liverpool for their match. They had discussed how Jamie felt like he needed more grounding in his life and the different ways he could do so.
Sam was one of the first players to show up in the car park, heading for the club cafeteria for a coffee before he saw a slumped figure alone in the back of the bus. Forgoing his coffee, Sam worked his way through the bus throwing his duffle bag on the row in front of Jamie to block it off. He slumped into the seat next to Jamie, mimicking his body language.
Jamie grunted at Sam before leaning slightly into him. “Mate, what the fuck is a podcast?”
Sam laughed, “why are you asking, Jamie?”
Jamie shrugged, “Dr. Sharon mentioned listening to one for ‘audio stimulation’,” Jamie air quoted.
“It’s like a radio show but anyone can produce one and you can access it from your phone.” Sam paused and looked at Jamie. “A radio show is like a talk show but on the radio, audio only.” Sam bumped Jamie’s shoulder, “some podcasts are pretty cool, if you can find one that interests you.”
Jamie sighed, “so it’s just a bunch of blokes blabbering on about nothing? Gross.” Jamie slumped a little more. “Have you ever heard of audiobooks?”
Sam chuckled again, “yes, I’ve listened to a few but I prefer reading the books myself.”
Jamie sat up a little and looked at Sam more closely. “Do you have one now?” Sam nodded. “What did you bring?”
Sam smiled, he reached over the seat in front of them, shuffling through his belongings until he pulled out a small hardback book. Jamie peered at the blue cover with what looked like a snake and two birds coming out of a large cup of some sort. “The Chalice of the Gods. My cousin loves Percy Jackson and this is the newest book that came out. I thought reading it would give us something to talk about.”
“Can you read it to me on the ride up?” Jamie asked as he traced the dragon on the cover.
“Of course, Jamie.” Sam hummed as he flipped to the first page. “First, there’s like 10 books that come before this one, so let me give you the background real quick.” Sam and Jamie huddled together as Sam gave Jamie the best plot summary he could, waiting as the rest of the team slowly filtered onto the bus.
As soon as Ted gave his pre-drive pep talk, the bus engine started and they pulled out of the club’s car park. Jamie leaned his head against Sam’s shoulder when they safely made it onto the street and listened quietly as Sam read from the book. Not once did Jamie try to hide his smile as he listened to Sam’s storytelling. Jamie still didn’t know what the fuck a podcast was, but he knew it was nothing compared to the voices Sam put on when reading a character’s dialogue.
3. On The Couch
A few weeks into the season, Sam invited the team to his place. It was a typical mid-week house party, with competitive video gaming and maybe a beer or two more than what they would have had alone. Sam loved when the team got together throughout the season like this. There were always people filtering in and out through the night, parading their way through a game or two, between their errands and the demands of the rest of their life.
At some point in the evening, the “party” in Sam’s living room had dwindled to Colin, Jamie, and Isaac. Colin was climbing over Isaac’s lap in an attempt to distract him as Jamie and Isaac fought it out on Rainbow Road. Colin was chanting Jamie’s name while reaching his hand to cover Isaac’s eyes. Jamie and Sam howled with laughter when Isaac threw his controller on the side of the coach and jumped out of his seat, causing Colin to fall to the floor. Isaac rolled his eyes before dragging Colin by the foot across the floor and then tackling Colin once Isaac reached the carpet.
Jamie cackled as he finished the race, Isaac’s driver had fallen off the road thrice already. Sam grabbed the other controller and challenged Jamie to another round. Jamie flashed Sam a wide smile, one that Sam always took pride in being on the receiving end of, and chose a medium level that he knew was Sam’s favorite.
As Colin and Isaac continued to wrestle around and tackle each other like primary school aged siblings, Jamie decided this was the right time to pick Sam’s brain. “Remember that book you read me? On the bus?” Jamie asked hesitantly. Sam nodded, pretending to focus on the game in an attempt to not stifle Jamie’s peaking curiosity. “I tried listening to the audiobook but it wasn’t the same without all your voices.” Sam blushed as he crossed the finish line. “And I bought the first book and tried to read it but me brain doesn’t work like that.”
Jamie sighed as he crossed the finish line and tossed his controller to the side. He gripped his thighs and looked over at Sam. “Would you read to me again? I really liked it when you read it the first time.”
Sam smiled and tossed his controller to the side as well. “Of course I will Jamie.” He reached over to Jamie, curling his fingers over Jamie’s, both their hands resting Jamie’s thigh. “Anytime you want to read together, night or day, just let me know.”
Jamie rested his free hand on top of Sam's, sandwiching Sam’s hand with his own. Sam was flustered by the warmth of Jamie’s skin enveloping his own. Jamie smirked, “if you can get rid of the two arseholes over there, I brought it with me.”
Sam fought the natural quirk of his mouth as he looked over his shoulder at Isaac and Colin, who had taken to just lying on the floor kicking each other. He squeezed Jamie’s hand, “couldn’t you two, uh, do that at home?” He questioned as innocently as possible.
Isaac waved his hand in the air as Colin sat up, “Isaac will surrender now.” Colin pushed himself onto his feet and reached his hand out to Isaac to help him up. The pair lazily scrambled out of Sam’s house, giving both Sam and Jamie a hug before shoving each other back and forth out of the house.
Sam laughed as they closed the door behind them. “I wasn’t that chaotic when I hung out with them before, was I?” Jamie asked.
“Oh no, Jamie, you were definitely worse.” Jamie pouted and crossed his arms. Sam missed the warmth of Jamie’s body so close to his. He quickly changed the subject, “where’s that book of yours?”
Jamie beamed at Sam as he grabbed the book from the bag of snacks he had brought with him. He tossed the book to Sam and grabbed a blanket off the back of Sam’s couch before crowding himself into a pile of pillows. Jamie tapped the cushion next to him and Sam pretended not to notice the minimal amount of space Jamie left on the sofa for him.
Jamie instantly cuddled into Sam the second he sat down. His grin was too wide to hide as he wrapped an arm around Jamie’s shoulders, pulling Jamie closer into him. Sam leaned back into the couch and opened the book. Sam was soothed by Jamie’s calm slow breathes as he read, taking time to develop the voices he used for each character’s dialogue. Every time that Sam was sure that Jamie had fallen asleep on his lap, he would hear a laugh or some mumbled commentary from Jamie.
Sam bathed in Jamie leaning on him, holding Jamie as they naturally positioned themselves into a horizontal pile on Sam’s couch. Jamie didn’t seem to be phased by the fact that he was literally lying on top of Sam as Sam read to him. Jamie seemed so content to just be in his arms and Sam wanted the world to stop in this moment forever.
4. On The Menu
Jamie felt a nervous energy course through him as he stood by the bar, trying to act as casually as possible. He waved off the bartender who inquired if Jamie wanted a mixed drink. Jamie knew there was nothing that would help him calm the nerves of a first date, at least not an important first date like this one.
Jamie’s breath hitched and nerves stalled as he saw Sam greet the hostess from his corner at the bar. His nerves started to bubble again as he admired the curl of Sam’s baby blue turtleneck rustling on his neck as he walked. In a flash, Sam was at the bar, pulling Jamie in for a soft hug, washing away Jamie’s nerves completely.
“I was told our table is ready for us,” Sam beamed at Jamie, which melted Jamie’s already weak knees. “May I escort you?” Sam asked, reaching his hand out for Jamie to grab. Jamie grabbed his hand gleefully and without a word, and followed Sam’s lead to their dinner table.
The hostess slipped them both a menu and the pair huddled close together in their booth. Jamie felt Sam press his leg against Jamie’s and a blush crawled against Jamie’s skin. He stole a glance to Sam, who was quietly reading the menu with a smile on his face.
Jamie bit his lip and tried to concentrate on the words in front of him but his mind was racing. Sam leaned his body slack against Jamie’s resting his head against Jamie’s. He loosely dragged his finger across Jamie’s menu, carefully pressing as much of his body against Jamie’s as he could. Sam softly read the menu to Jamie, the whispers in his ear sending chills down his spine.
Jamie smiled as he shifted his weight into Sam, quietly listening to his smooth voice list off dishes Jamie has never even heard of. The ambience of the restaurant was fancy and moody, a place he would have never even dreamed of dining at before he had his footie money. A restaurant like this still intimidates him, making the lonely, council kid deep inside him feel small and out-of-place.
None of that mattered as Jamie sat with Sam. Jamie felt such a soothing comfort every time he was with Sam, that no amount of overwhelming intimidation, from an expensive restaurant or otherwise, could dissuade him from the grounding calm he felt with Sam.
5. On The Bed (and under the covers)
Sam and Jamie had been seeing each other for nearly 6 months and Sam couldn’t be more ecstatic. Jamie had all but moved in with Sam, with how frequently Jamie spent the night at Sam’s house. Jamie had two drawers, half the shower shelves, a weird majority of the closet but, most importantly to Sam, Jamie took up over two shelves on Sam’s bookcase with books that Jamie wanted to read together.
Sam was beyond enamored by Jamie’s increasing passion for reading and books. It had become routine for Jamie to toss a book at Sam during any mundane activity. With regularity they would read together while resting on the couch or while on the bus to a match, but increasingly often, Jamie would insist on cooking dinner or driving them somewhere just so Sam could read to him from a book. Sam was truly impressed with the sheer bloodthirst Jamie seemed to approach reading now that they did it together.
But Sam’s favorite is when they’ve finally pulled themselves into Sam’s bed for the night, cuddling beneath the covers, before Jamie gives a tickle to Sam’s hands and a smirk before reaching to his bedside and reaching for a book on his nightstand. The two of them had already gotten through so many book series together, The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and all of Rick Riordan’s series, which Sam loved how much Jamie loved the different mythology series, especially after that first bus ride in which they read together.
This particular rainy night, Jamie had insisted on finishing their reread of The Mark of Athena, a favorite of Jamie’s. Jamie cuddled into Sam’s chest, running his hand along Sam’s sternum, as Sam carefully wrapped his arms around Jamie, resting the book on Jamie’s torso. As Sam picked up from the spot they left off, Jamie burrowed further into Sam’s chest, quietly speaking the words as Sam read them. Sam didn’t bother to fight his smile as he read, enamored by Jamie’s love for reading and his recollection of a book they haven’t read in awhile.
As Sam read, Jamie sunk further into Sam. When Sam got to one of his favorite lines, he smiled and pulled Jamie in tightly. “‘We’re staying together,’ he promised. ‘You’re not getting away from me. Never again.’ Only then did she understand what would happen. A one-way trip. A very hard fall.” Before Sam could reach the next line in the book, Jamie wiggled his way around Sam’s arms, propping himself on one arm, his body still half on Sam’s torso. Jamie smiled brightly at Sam “‘As long as we’re together,’ she said.” finishing the next line before leaning down to kiss Sam.
Jamie pulled back with a soft smile and a shine in his eye. “That’s how I feel about you, you know.” His smile turned sheepish as he continued. “You’re not getting away from me. We’re staying together.”
Sam blushed as Jamie spoke, a warm fire building in his stomach. Sam felt the same. Jamie was his, Jamie was who he wanted to be with, stay with, and build a life with - together. Sam pushed himself on his own arm, so that the two of them were propped up facing each other. “As long as we’re together Jamie, we can do anything.”
Jamie smiled and kissed Sam again before pulling back. “Yeah?” Jamie paused. “Outside of all the books and the matches and the being together constantly, you still want to do anything together?”
Sam pulled Jamie as close to him as he possibly could, nuzzling his nose against Jamie’s. “Jamie, I would do anything for you. I’ve felt more for you in the past 6 months than I have for anybody else ever. I’ve learned so much about what I’ve truly wanted in the past 6 months and that want is you.”
Jamie pulled back with a mischievous smile. “Hmm…” Jamie pondered, “so if all you’ve truly wanted is me, then shouldn’t we just get married?”
Sam’s heart stopped. No where in tonight’s plan of cuddling in bed and reading together, did Sam expect to hear any string of words resembling a marriage proposal. Sam didn’t even realize his mouth was hanging open until Jamie spoke again. “Umm … I mean listen Sam, - ” Jamie looked shell shocked as he fumbled over his words. “I wasn’t meaning anything, I was just thinking.” Jamie was stumbling over his words, frantically trying to cover for what had stumbled past his lips.
Sam pressed his lips against Jamie before Jamie could continue to bumble his words any further. Sam smiled at Jamie’s frozen face as he pulled away. “Jamie Tartt, did you just ask me to marry you?”
Jamie blushed, but before he could speak again, Sam was already answering his own question. “Because you’re not allowed to take it back now. Especially since I’m going to say yes.”
Jamie’s eyebrow quirked before he started beaming at Sam. “Sam Obisanya, are you really saying yes to my rash proposal?”
Sam smiled widely back at Jamie. He couldn’t believe it, having only dated for 6 months, and having hated Jamie for much longer than that in the past - Yes. Yes he was saying yes to Jamie’s sudden and impromptu proposal. “Jamie Tartt, I am saying yes to your rash proposal.” Sam’s smile was certainly escaping his face at this point. “And I must say, all this reading is certainly expanding your vocabulary. And I think that’s quite sexy of my fiance.”
Jamie swiftly flipped Sam on his back, straddling Sam’s torso. “Oh you find your fiance to be sexy now?” Jamie kissed the side of Sam’s neck along his jawline. “How delectable indeed.” At the speed of lightning, Jamie pressed his whole body against Sam's, kissing every unclothed inch of Sam’s body as he could. His fiance’s body. As quickly as Jamie proposed, and as quickly as Sam had affirmatively answered, their book of the night lay quickly abandoned on Sam’s bedroom floor.
+1 On Til The End of Time
It had been a year and a half since Jamie had proposed to Sam during their nightly read together, and Jamie couldn’t be more excited for the life they were building together. Jamie had officially moved into Sam’s place, bringing an unimaginable amount of stuff and things into the flat. They had planned their wedding for just after the end of the season, so that the two of them could enjoy a long honeymoon together.
Now the day was here, their wedding day. Jamie’s heart felt stuck in his throat as Isaac and Colin helped him dress in his tux for the evening. Jamie felt fancy, fancier than he had ever imagined his wedding day would be. In exactly 90 minutes, Jamie would be at the altar, officially married to the love of his life, declaring his love for him in front of all his loved ones. And the wait seemed longer than any footie match he’s ever had to play.
Isaac combed and gelled Jamie’s hair as Jamie asked Colin if he had any updates from Dani or Moe about Sam. Colin rolled his eyes and scoffed, “no Jamie, Sam is exactly the same as when you last asked 5 minutes ago.”
Isaac threw his comb at Colin, “he’s nervous you numpty. Let him live his last minutes of freedom in peace.” Isaac rolled his eyes as he went back to smoothing down Jamie’s hair. “Now go ask Jan to bring us shots, I’m going to need it if I’m going to get through this day without crying.”
“Why are you going to cry mate, I’m the one getting married!” Jamie exclaimed.
Isaac pulled his hands away from Jamie’s hair, met his eyes through the mirror in front of him, and sighed before hugging Jamie from behind. “Because I love you idiots. I’m so happy my best friends have found their way to each other.” Isaac’s words were muffled from his embrace, but it made Jamie tear up just the same. Jamie couldn’t believe his life. Friends and family who encourage and uplift him, teammates who believe in succeeding together, and Sam.
Sam, his love, his light, his whole life.
In 80 minutes that man will be his forever.
80 minutes was too long of a wait and Jamie started to pace once Isaac was done with his hair. Where the hell was Jan and Colin with their shots? Jamie was confident that Sam wanted to spend the rest of his life with him but unsubstantiated fear and anxiety still coursed through his veins.
Jamie jumped when Jan and Richard burst through his dressing room with a tray full of shots. He very quickly settled himself and made his way to the tray in 3 steps. He took one, cheersed his mates and threw it back. It was 60 minutes until showtime and Jamie could feel his anxiety starting to melt away.
“Alright mates, your favorite Mancunian is getting married in less than an hour. Now is your last chance to confess your love to me, but be warned, I will be rejecting your advances.” Jamie smiled as his friends laughed and circled him into a group hug. 45 minutes to go.
Jamie made his way to the ceremony space of their venue, a beautiful garden space at Kew Gardens. The flowers were in bloom, a bright colorful rainbow display surrounding their ceremony space. Jamie stood in awe, admiring the gorgeous place that he and Sam had decided to publicly declare their love.
It was 20 minutes until go time and Jamie’s whole body was on fire with excitement. He was going to marry Sam. The most intelligent, patient, kind, hard-working, loving man he’s ever known. How Jamie ever got this lucky, he’ll never know.
Jamie found his mum and gave her a giant hug. “Oh my baby boy! Are you ready? Oh how you’re going to enjoy this journey! My perfect baby is marrying his perfect man! Oh! My sexy little baby is marrying his sexy little man. Are you sure I can’t steal him from you Jamie?”
Jamie chuckled at his mother, “once he’s finished with me, I’ll make sure to send him your way.”
Georgie smiled at her son, “Jamie, I’m so proud of you, always.” Georgie embraced her son in a long hug only pulling back to give him a big kiss on his cheek. “Now get the hell ready! You’ve got 10 minutes left until you marry my favorite son-in-law!” Jamie chuckled, gave his mum one last kiss on the cheek, before making his way to the top of the aisle.
Jamie and Sam had agreed on not spending the night or morning together before the wedding. Jamie would walk down the aisle first, walking to a song that Sam had chosen, while Sam would walk to one that Jamie had picked. Their groomsmen, Isaac, Colin, and Richard for Jamie, Dani, Moe, and Jan for Sam, would walk the aisle first. Followed by their flower girl, Sam’s niece, and their ring bearer, Ted’s son Henry. Then it would be Jamie’s turn to walk, something he insisted on rehearsing 4 times the night before at the rehearsal dinner, and then Sam would follow.
His Sam, his perfect, amazing, exceptional Sam.
It was 2 minutes until the ceremony started and Jamie felt a presence to his right. He looked over to the brooding face of Roy Kent. Roy grunted and Jamie smiled. “Good luck you muppet. Break his heart and I break your pretty little face, remember that.” Roy grunted.
Jamie laughed, “just because you find my face pretty, doesn’t mean I’ll be leaving Sam for you.” Roy rolled his eyes but grinned, slapping Jamie on the back before walking down the aisle to his seat.
Jamie heard the string quartet start and he held his breath. It’s starting. IT’S STARTING. His WEDDING is STARTING! Jamie took a deep breath as all the groomsmen, his wonderful friends, lined up to escort him and his love down the aisle.
Jamie knew it would be impossible to wipe the absolute beaming grin off his face but he didn’t care. He’s getting married. MARRIED. To his best friend, his love, his everything.
The groomsmen slowly made their way down the aisle, followed by their precious flower girl and their adorable ring bearer. Jamie gulped as he started his walk down the aisle, looking for every familiar and smiling face as he walked down the aisle. He was blissed out and he hadn’t even seen Sam yet. This was going to be the best day of his life forever.
Jamie made his way to the altar and placed himself in front of his groomsmen and took another deep breath. It’s time. It’s time for his love to walk down the aisle to meet him and marry him.
The string quartet started up a new song, and Jamie’s breath hitched. It’s time, any second now Sam will be walking down the aisle, to him, and they’ll officially get married. Jamie was trying to unscramble his brain as fast as it was trying to scramble itself.
And then Sam showed up. The length of the aisle was the only thing separating him from his beautiful, incredible almost husband. The grin only grew wider with every step Sam made towards him. With every step Sam took, Jamie’s understanding of “your heart walks around outside of your body” grew even deeper. That was his heart right there, inching closer to him, step by step.
Finally, Sam made his way to the altar, with one of the largest grins Jamie had ever seen on anyone. Sam settled at the altar in front of his groomsmen, looking upon Jamie with an expression that Jamie knew has and will fix every problem in his life.
Sam joined his hands with Jamie’s as their officiant started the ceremony. Jamie could barely hear the words the officiant was saying as Sam looked deeply into his eyes. Jamie was finding it hard to stay present in the moment when all he wanted to do was kiss Sam deeply and madly for all of eternity.
The officiant’s words echoed in and then out of Jamie’s ears as he grinned at Sam. Jamie barely heard the officiant instructing Jamie to recite his vows and Jamie knew he grew redder than Colin’s sunburn in Ibiza last summer as he pulled out his vow book.
With Jamie’s vow book opened and ready, he took a deep breath before reciting his vows. “My dear Samuel. The brightest light to have entered my life. There is no one I cherish more than you, now, ever, and forever.”
Jamie paused, looking up at Sam with a smile before looking back to his vow book. “You have shown me so much patience, kindness, love, and support, more than any human has ever deserved. But that’s what I love about you so much. Your ability to show up with so much grace and love for every single person you’ve ever met is inspiring, especially knowing the tight-knit community you leave in your wake as you do. I often doubt myself and my capabilities, despite how much I try to confidently pretend I don’t. It wasn’t until I met you that I began to truly believe in myself again.”
“Sam, you are a passionate and caring man, one that anyone would be privileged to have in their life. It is the greatest privilege to be a recipient of your love and it is the greatest privilege to be the man that you chose to love you back. It is an honor I will never forget, every day of our wonderful lives together.”
Jamie looked up at Sam’s beautiful grinning face before finishing his vows. “You’ve taught me so many things about myself, about the world, and most importantly, about our shared love for reading, the shared love that brought us together. To help me establish my truest feelings for you, I look towards a quote from our favorite characters: ‘We’re staying together. You’re not getting away from me. Never again.’”
“I love you Samuel Obisanya. It is the greatest honor to become your husband and I know that our life together will be beautiful. I love you endlessly and I look forward to every single second of our lives together” Jamie finished his vows with tears in his eyes as he looked up at Sam. Jamie saw the tears in Sam’s eyes and immediately went to wipe them, which got a hearty laugh out of Sam.
Jamie thought he heard a murmur from the officiant that it was Sam’s turn for his vows. But all Jamie could concentrate on was the beautiful features of his lover’s face as they stared into each other’s eyes.
“My love, my Jamie. The man I soon will finally get to officially call mine forever. My eager, passionate, adventurous man. You are so full of life and love, a life and love that you’ve always had. It amazes me every day how full of passion and wisdom that you are. A passion and wisdom that shows itself in a greater way with every second that we spend together.”
“Each second I get the privilege to spend with you, is another second I get to glimpse into the deeply passionate world of Jamie Tartt.” Oh damnit, Jamie thought, this perfect man is going to out vow me. “In the road of your passion, there is love, understanding, and belief. All the incredible things that make you you. You make the world a brighter place and I’m grateful to be an accomplice in all your love.”
Sam paused as he looked up at Jamie, “you are everything and more in the love that I thought I’d get in this life. You are the change I believe in this world. And you are the love and passion that inspires me in every step of my life. You are my love, my passion, my everything. And to quote our favorite characters back to you: ‘you’re never getting away from me, as long as we’re together.”
Jamie’s smile was so big it was going to warp his face forever. He barely registered the words “you may now kiss the groom” before Sam’s lips were smashed against his. His lips, his lips that belonged to him.
The crowd full of their family, friends, and loved ones, cheered as Sam and Jamie pulled apart from their kiss. He was in love, he was happy, and finally everyone saw it as clearly as he did.
All Jamie wanted to do was bone the hell out of Sam right here, right now, but even he knew that wasn’t appropriate at the moment. Sam grinned at him as he gripped Jamie’s hand, focused on Jamie as the crowd of their loved ones cheered them on. The two of them walked hand-in-hand back down the aisle, amongst the smiles of their family and friends.
As Jamie and Sam made their way to where their photographer suggested for family pictures, Jamie felt every insecurity in his body release. He finally felt at home in his body, his loved ones joyous for him and with him, while with his one true love by his side. The man he was truly, unconditionally, and irrevocably in love with.
