Chapter Text
Percy didn't scream as he woke from his nightmare, didn't cry, didn't feel. He laid there in his cabin, feeling absolutely nothing. Until the nausea hit, he pushed himself out of bed, detangling himself from the sheets damp with sweat, and stumbled toward the bathroom. He feel to his knees roughly and he leaned over the toilet bowl to hurl the remains of his already empty stomach. He pulled himself away, hugging his knees to his chest and started sobbing hysterically, like he was five all over again crying from the pain of Gabe's beatings. That thought alone made him feel nauseous again.
Percy would never admit it of course, but he was miserable. Just as he started to get lost in his own thoughts and self-hate, there was a knock at the door. He stood up, bracing himself at the edge of the counter. As he went to walk to the door, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. He looked bad, really bad. His eyes were sunken in, and just below them sat bruise like eye bags. His skin was an unhealthy shade of almost grey, a far cry from his usual tan skin. All he could think was how bad he let himself go after....that place.
He remembered to stop feeling sorry for himself, and went to go get the door. He opened it to see a shaken looking Annabeth standing outside.
" Annabeth, its midnight....did you have a nightmare?"
Annabeth nods, and Percy opens the door wider to let her in. They saw nothing, they don't have to say anything to feel comfortable in each others presence. Except, Percy felt no comfort, only the depth of his trauma and depression gnawing away at him at an alarming rate. Although this was true, Percy still told nobody, scared of what their reaction would be to the person they all looked up to admitting he was depressed.
He still cured up next to Annabeth like normal, still hugged her waist as she drifted off, still pretended he was okay. He was tired of pretending though. Laying there his arms around his girlfriend he made a plan, a horrible, dreadful plan, but a plan still.
