Summary
In which Izuku simultaneously grows up and doesn't, for better or for worse.
Everything changes. Nothing changes. It’s like they’re all stuck in one big time machine, except the time machine is less like a time machine and more like a washing machine, in the sense that it shakes them around and then spits them back out and generally makes a mess everywhere.
He tells the metaphor to Ochako, when it’s all done and over with. She tells him that he needs a better washing machine.

“Maybe we’re stuck,” Ochako begins tentatively, “because this isn’t the point we’re supposed to be progressing from.”
Sero makes a noise, near the back. “What do you mean?”
Ochako shrugs and gives them a wobbly smile. “I’m not entirely sure,” she confesses. “All I know is that I want to be—well, I want to feel like I’m actually seventeen.”
More quiet. The things Izuku wants to say pile in his mouth, in the back of his throat, a mix of, That’s right, we’re seventeen, aren’t we? and, It wasn’t supposed to turn out this way.

Todoroki looks straight into the camera. His eyes are set. “Fame isn’t everything,” he says slowly, roughly. He’s got makeup on for the show, but Izuku can still see the dark circles. “We’re young. We’re tired. We just want—” He sighs. “We just want peace and quiet, for once.”

Beautifully written. The atmosphere is of a dull, gray, and cold world. It's the aftermath of 'the' war, and even if they did save the world, in the end they are just kids that are too young to be dealing with all of this.Title: and baby, the world's watching us drown
