Work Text:
“No way.”
“C’mon, please?”
Saeko gives Adachi a weary glare. She's slouched gracelessly, with her hair messy and her blazer long discarded, the garment hanging precariously off the edge of the piano. “I have to act cutesy and ladylike for my customers all day at work — and today was a long day. I'm not doing the sultry hostess voice just so you boys can get off on it.”
Nanba is visibly disappointed, but just turns around to focus on his drink, resigned.
Adachi doesn't give up so easily. He lounges back against the bar with undeserved confidence. “Aww, but you're so cute when you do that! You know you want to, Sa-chaaan,” he cajoles with a lopsided grin.
She places her glass down heavily upon the tabletop, fully prepared to give Adachi a lecture, until Joon-gi cuts in. “Adachi-san, don't be so rude. Performing like that takes a lot of work.”
Joon-gi looks picture-perfect himself, elegantly poised even while he's just casually drinking. He taps his manicured nails on the counter and gives Adachi a sharp look of warning.
“Of course you'd know that,” Nanba says with a snort. He elbows Adachi. “Han’s right, though."
“Sorry, Sa-chan. I'll let you rest.” Adachi rubs the back of his neck self-consciously.
She just sighs and shakes her head.
But before the silence has even a moment to settle in, Adachi is turning to Joon-gi.
“So,” he drawls, back to his usual cocky self without missing a beat, “is that even your real voice, or is that just part of your pretty-boy shtick?”
Joon-gi immediately perks up at the attention. There's a little sparkle in his eyes — he somehow looks smug and shy at the same time. “I must admit, I do put on a bit of a show, so to speak. But this is mostly my natural voice. My… ‘host’ act takes slightly more effort.”
“Oh? Now you've got me curious. Wanna show me?” He raises an eyebrow suggestively.
“Hypocrites, the both of you,” Saeko scoffs.
Adachi ignores her and makes his best attempt at puppy eyes, pouting with his head tilted just so. “Please?”
Joon-gi beams. “Since you asked so nicely…” He puts his drink down, shifts in his seat, and clears his throat. Suddenly, he seems to transform. His posture is tall and self-assured, yet relaxed. His eyes are half-lidded, his gaze dark and enchanting. “Good evening, sir. Thank you for requesting my services on this fine evening.”
Adachi simply replies, ”Woah.” His cheeks flush, and a dopey smile spreads across his face.
Joon-gi doubles down on the sweetened charm. “I don't believe I've seen you here before — I'm sure I'd remember a face as handsome as yours.” His voice dips low and sultry, and that's all it takes for Adachi to become entranced, fully caught in the act. Joon-gi’s finger traces across the countertop, teasingly close to Adachi’s arm. “It's a pleasure to meet you.”
Adachi looks like he's about to start drooling. “Oh-ho-ho, it's a pleasure, alright. Lemme buy you a drink, baby. Wanna get to know you.”
“Well, well…” Joon-gi purrs, fanning himself with one hand. He makes a dramatic show of hesitation before quickly giving in. “If you insist.”
Saeko groans. “Get a room, you two!”
They both look startled, as if they just now realized what they were doing.
It's impressive how quickly Joon-gi slips back to his usual self. His mannerisms, his speech, his expression, all changing in a fraction of a second, like a switch was flipped.
“My apologies. I forgot how fun that is, especially with someone so... receptive.” For a moment, Joon-gi’s mellow rasp turns warm and honeyed — not his host voice, but something uniquely his own.
Adachi melts. “You're real good at it. Y'know, your regular voice is pretty cute, too.”
“You think so?” Joon-gi’s blush is mostly hidden under concealer, but the tips of his ears turn pink.
“Yeah, I don't think anyone could resist you. You're kinda hard to ignore.” Adachi chuckles. “But maybe I'm just lonely and a little desperate, I dunno.”
“What a shame. You're a real charmer yourself, you know?” he says, his voice soft and genuine. He runs his hand up Adachi’s bicep and places it comfortingly on his shoulder. “And there's nothing wrong with needing attention. In fact, I'd be quite happy to solve that little problem for you.”
Adachi turns starry-eyed. “R-really?”
“Well, only if you buy me that drink you promised,” Joon-gi says as he pulls away with a smirk.
Adachi mirrors his easy confidence. “I can do you one better. I'll wine and dine you, like a proper gentleman.”
Nanba whistles, impressed. He and Adachi share a proud look and a high-five.
Joon-gi has to hold back a laugh, but he replies, ever so sweetly, “It's a date, then.”
