Everyone knew if you had a problem with Bradford you went to Chen and she would talk some sense in to him.
It started a few months after she made P2 and was offered a UC op with a human trafficking ring the detective was explaining all the details and risks when Bradford spoke up.
"No. She doesn't have enough training for this." Everyone could here the barely concealed rage in his voice. "Excuse me?" Lucy sounded pissed if looks could kill Bradford would be ash.
The detective looked between them then asked "is there something I should know, chen?" She clenched her jaw before responding "no ma'am" before walking across the room in controlled steps.
Stopping in front of tim and grabbing his ear. "Oww. What the hell chen." He asked lowering his head to her hand so it pulled less but she completely ignored him and looked towards the detective "will you Excuse us for a moment?" She asked in a syrupy sweet voice but didn't wait for an answer before dragging him out.
Everyone in roll call watch some in amazement others in shock Angela had a grin watching in pure amusement as lucy chen dragged thier terrifying hardass Sargent out by his ear in all her 5'2 glory.
They all watch thru the glass as she dragged him all the way across the bullpen before releasing his ear.
"What the hell Bradford?" He knew he fucked up when he heard the rage in her voice. He puts his hands up in a defensive manner.
"Look, I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't do it all I'm saying is human trafficking rings are dangerous." She rolled her eyes "everything we do is dangerous that is literally our jobs. YOU said to never let anyone tell me what I can or can't do so why in the hell would you try."
She stabbed her finger at her chest with the 'YOU' and he racks his brain for a response that wouldn't piss her of more.
"Your right I'm sorry. If this is want I have full faith in you." He watches her expression to see if she liked that and as soon as he did he could see the walls retreat and let out a relieved breath.
"Alright your of the hook this time. But If you ever do that again your body will never be recovered." She said completely serious and he nodded frantically. "Yes. Yes never again understood."
She turned to walk back towards the breafing room and he follows. When they get back everyone is watching cautiously and trying not to smile when Bradford looks like a kid who just got lectured.
"Ok we're good right, sergeant Bradford?" Lucy asked her tone threatening. Daring him to disagree but he just nods. Lopez snorts and discreetly give chen a fist bump and whispered "respect." In her ear and lucy uses all her UC skills to keep a straight face and not burst out laughing.
They the years thats how it when someone would complain about Bradford being an ass and in the next few days they would get a very reluctant apology though they rarely got to witness her work her terrifying lucy chen super powers until years later.
Tim and Lucy were married and had a daughter, Zoe she was 5 and lucy had the weekend off and called him during roll call Grey told him to answer it incase it was an emergency and if not well at least he would get an update on his honorary granddaughter.
"Bradford you child is the spawn of chaos. I when to the bathroom for 3 minutes. 3! And I come out and there is ketchup on everything surface of the house the walls, furniture, her even kojo! He is sitting on his bed completely covered is ketchup and looking thoroughly traumatized. Apparently there were 4 bottles of ketchup in the pantry. Did you know we owned 4 bottles of ketchup we dont any more it's everywhere." She says in a tirade not giving him and time to respond.
Tim blinks a few times before responding "wow sounds like your having a great day." He said sarcastically he can practically hear her roll her eyes.
"Is sound like you want to sleep on the couch." She immediately retorts "you... are not in the mood for jokes copy that." There are several snorts and muffled laughs.
"There's more she plugged the kitchen sink and dumped the entire bottle of dish soap in it she claimed her stuffed animals needed a bath so there are stuffed animals floating in the kitchen and bubbles everywhere it looks like a soup bomb exploded in there. AND THEN. She put a race car in the microwave it caught on fire. The microwave is trash your lucky I didn't have to call the fire department. And because this couldn't get worse miss Henderson from next door heard the fire alarm go of so she walked over with cookie WHY DOES SHE ALWAYS HAVE COOKIES! I opened the door covered in bubbles and ketchup holding a water logged stuffed animal and kojo followed also a mess and she told me she heard the alarm and wanted to make sure everything was ok. Before I even answered the suspect decided that is was the perfect time to run across the house in her underwear with a towel around her neck like a cape screaming that she is the queen of bubbles. Miss Henderson gave me the most judgmental look I have ever seen said she would leave the cookies on the porch and speed walked away." She says it all in a rush barely taking the time to breath.
Tim has no idea how to respond other then joke which she want like so he goes with "were where her clothes?" She takes a deep breath before responding trying not explode. " they were covered in ketchup so I took her mugshot then striped them of her to give her a shower before miss Henderson came over being nosy."
"Mugshot?" Tim asked trying not to laugh "yes tim her mugshots was taken and the scene has been canvased I put up crime scene tape and took photos of everything for evidence. Then I washed her I haven't washed kojo yet because he tends to see baths as group activities."
"Ok were is Zoe now." He asked trying to end the call.
"Passed out on the couch apparently causing that much destruction is exhausting. I'm filling forensics reports." She said he doesn't object knowing he cant stop her.
"So uh your on speaker in roll call." He holds his breath expecting her to be pissed but she yells through the speaker "who wants a free 5 year old!" Everyone loses there shit even the veteran cop everyone is laughing. And tim thinks he would be happy to have this forever including the chaos and his wife who makes messes sound like a tactical reports and getting threatened...regular. his wife is terrifying
