Ben brings his new girlfriend and his new kitten home for the High Holy Days!
“ No amount of internet searches and crash courses could prepare Rey for the chaos that was an Organa-Skywalker-Solo family Seder. Leia and Luke bickered over Torah translations, with about twenty-five percent of everything they said being in Yiddish and Ladino. Rey couldn’t actually identify the dialects, but Ben explained it while showing her how to follow along in the haggadah. He also explained why the haggadah were branded with a prominent coffee company. Which made sense enough (freebies are nice and stranger things become tradition) but then why was Uncle Lando throwing his karpas at Han, saying it was for being a salty bastard? That, Ben explained under his breath, was simply family tradition.
It helped a bit that Leia had pulled out Ben’s old childhood Passover place mat, nicely laminated with cartoon illustrations of the Seder plate and explanations. It might have been a little embarrassing except that her boyfriend’s mother had stuck it directly in front of Ben with a wink, saying she knew he could never remember.
