Work Text:
Sibling Rivalry? Between Us Two?
They had been on a mission.
The two of them had, Boba and Omega.
It had been a bounty hunting gig, the brother and the sister sometimes working together when necessary. When, well, they needed the credits.
And this one having been that, necessary.
It wasn’t like the two hated each each other. Far from it. Both of them having forged a flimsy yet true relationship between any brother and sister really. The two of them having found each other later in life.
Today, it was the day for celebration though. The one to honour their father, Jango Fett’s birthdate. Something of a tradition Boba had begun and Omega then having picked on as well.
After all, they both shared a hundred percent of the unaltered Fett DNA. Well, almost a hundred, Omega having… a few altercations done but that was beside the point.
As it was, the two did not always see eye to eye though. And during this particular mission, a great big fight had broken out between the two of them.
And so, while supposedly sitting down and celebrating their Father’s Special Day, neither of them was talking to each other. Not even looking at the other! Simply sipping from their beverage of choice, looking every which other way then their sibling.
Boba, usually the one to hold a grudge longer, was getting annoyed by the silence much faster than usual. While Omega was the one to usually yield and apologise. But guess it had been a stupid fight about nothing really. And Boba had totally enjoyed working with Omega now that Fennec was doing her own thing again. Well mostly she was.
So why was it so hard to say the two little words then?
The mission had gone great! They were healthy and alive and supposed to be celebrating their Father. So, what the hell, Boba? the Bounty Hunter thought to himself.
Omega was feeling annoyed too.
Sure, she wasn’t as experienced in this newly acquired trade of hers. But she was doing great just the same. Also, she was determined to steer Boba forwards the lighter side if things ever since her having met Boba and seeing the good in her newly found brother.
So, one word in edgewise and this having happened? The two not talking any more?
“Do that, and I won’t speak to you again!”
It had been a warning, but Omega had let the kid go. He hadn’t been involved in the adults shenanigans after all and thus, being innocent and all.
And so, here they were, never talking to each other again?
Boba knew Omega had been right though. Letting the kid go. It was the adults they had been after and the kid simply having gotten caught in the middle of it all. Pure bad luck!
Omega slurped, loudly, protesting the silence in her own unique way.
Boba looked at her sideways. But instead of being annoyed, he simply smirked and then out of the blue, started laughing. Loudly so too!
Omega stared at Boba in utter disbelief. Annoyed more likely.
“Whey the kark is so funny?”
“You, hehe, got something… on your nose!”
Boba pointed at the spot there. Some of Omega’s sappy drink of choice having spurted out and on her face during her rather aggressive sipping.
Omega tried to remove it only it was the wrong side she was aiming at.
“Here…” Boba touched Omega’s face gently trying to remove the offending stuff.
They were suddenly quiet for a long moment, only staring at each other.
Then… the dam broke.
“I’m sorry…!”
“I apologise…”
At the same time too the said it.
The smiles emerging soon enough for them both.
“It was stupid!”
“So, we good?”
“Yeah. We are.”
“Good.”
“Great.”
Their drinks up in the air, toasting like nothing ever having happened. Like they weren’t not talking a moment ago.
“To our Father!”
“Our Father!”
They sipped in silence again. Staring somewhere else than each other. Yeah, they were awkward that way.
“So, there’s this bounty…” Boba started, clearly wanting Omega with him.
“I’m listening.”
Omega leaned in gingerly. Only happy they had settled their stupid fight. They were siblings after all. Even if they did not always agree to everything. Well, most things.
