Work Text:

Have you ever stepped on an eggshell with bare feet? A snapping kind of ooziness
your ears feel more than hear. That is what it sounded and felt like when the crack of a broken bone echoed across the barren desert. Blood dripped from his finger tips as his boyfriend’s blood dripped down his finger tips. Grian dropped to his knees, choking on his own tears.

He won, but at what cost? Everyone he knew was gone. Even him, by his own hand. He wasn’t himself. He’s free now. He’s back in his castle, his hands raw from working instead of fighting. Scar was alive and well, living off in his own little world. Grian was safe from the Watchers now. They couldn’t get him anymore.

Grian stumbles out of the ring, narrowly dodging a cactus. His mind fuzzy as he makes his way into his home. The air feels stiff, like no one’s ever lived there. It’s been two months. To Grian, it feels like years. Only a month ago was he in war, fighting by Scar’s side.

“Come home, Xelqua.” They whisper. He shuts his eyes tight, his hands fly up to cover his ears.
“You miss us.”
“You need us.” Grian shakes his head, mumbling incoherently under his breath. He is free. He thought he escaped them. Winning should’ve left them behind.
"Xelqua.”
“No..” He whispers, voice shaky.
“Come home.” His head is now pounding.

“G.” That voice, his voice. Grian’s head snaps up – no one was there.
“Wha-...Scar?” Grian is on his feet now. Spinning in endless circles. He was no longer in the desert. He was cast in darkness, a small purple glow emitting from within him. His wings felt heavier. His feathers, no longer bright and colourful, simply white and heavy.

“Welcome home,” A headless voice echoed through the chamber. “Watcher.”

“Grian?” Scar’s voice came from behind him. Grian whirled around, to finally see him standing there, as beautiful as the day they met. He rushed over, knocking Scar to the ground. They hit the ground however, this ground was sandy. Nothing like the cold chamber they had been in moments before, and that is when he woke up. Stranded and alone, forever.

Notes:

I'm gonna update the summary when I learn my grade lmao!
