Something old.
Vicky decided to wear the tiara that all future queens of Askr wore down the aisle.
Something new.
She decided it would be the dress. She wore a delicate gown that looked very similar to the one she wore to the bride's festival.
Something borrowed.
Loki surprised her by coming to give her something. A pair of beautiful earrings. He said she didn't need to return it. Honestly, they didn't need to say anything to each other.
Something blue.
The dress had some new details. The details were sewn with blue, red, and gold threads. It was a picture of who she was marrying.
But actually, the tiara and flowers already had something blue in them.
After a near-murder, poisonings, and another fight with another god, the summoner, and the princes were going to do what they would do to finally make peace between the empire and the kingdom: get the princes and the summoner to marry each other.
She could tell that a lot of people in the castle were curious to see her as she walked down the aisle, with the help of Princess Sharena and Princess Veronica, toward the castle chapel. Because of what has happened recently, it was decided to do this. The princesses went ahead when they saw that she could do the last stretch alone.
Luckily for the summoner, she wasn't nervous. She felt it was time for a new start. The only thing that upset her was that her dad wasn't there to see her. She had done better than her mother and exceeded her expectations.
When she got to the chapel door, she saw Hugo and Commander Anna waiting for her. The wedding was going to be a mix of two different traditions, so it made sense that there would be two people there to walk her down the aisle, since she didn't have a dad.
The redhead shook her head, watching as the commander turned away, so her face couldn't be seen. “Are you crying, Commander?”
She heard Hugo make a noise as he got comfortable. The commander wiped away his tears. “It's not my fault. You three are so much more than just my students. Especially you,” the commander said, smiling. The summoner took a breath, feeling a strange sensation.
“Are you ready?” the man asked as Vicky got comfortable.
“I am. But the question is, are they ready?” This made them laugh.
“Bruno is shaking with excitement. Alfonse… I think he's handling it better.”
“He's more like hiding it,” the commander replied. They both breathed out as she grabbed their arms. The commander took the bride's bouquet from her.
The doors opened and the music started. Everyone was there, especially the important people of both kingdoms, sitting on special chairs at the altar and smiling. The three of them walked quietly, while she stared at the altar. The two princes, who were wearing similar festival clothes, spoke to each other for a moment and then turned. The three of them looked at each other, and then took a deep breath. When she got to the altar, Anna first gave her to Alfonse, giving him a look that they surely understood. Then Hugo gave her to Bruno. Anna gave him the flowers, and the three of them looked at the priest. She saw Bruno wiping away tears.
The ceremony was long because it had two parts. First, there was the Emblian, and then the Askran. They were similar, but also different.
“And with this, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride,” the priest said.
Both princes lifted the veil before they all three kissed. Everyone clapped and cheered. She didn't notice this, as the three of them were staring at each other.
The party went on for a long time, with lots of dancing and eating. But the three of them left for a bit to visit the royal family's tomb. The redhead left another bouquet at the tomb of King Gustav.
“Who are you going to give the bouquet to?” Bruno asked, seeing that she hadn't given him the flowers. Alfonse and she looked at each other.
“We talked about it,” said the Prince of Askr. “And we think it's right to leave it with your mother when we go on our honeymoon.”
He saw the man with the silver hair take a deep breath and nod, smiling a little. “I think she'll like it. Shall we go back to the party?”
Vicky made a face and turned around. “I want to go out into the garden for a bit.”
The two men looked at each other and nodded slightly. The three of them walked in silence towards the gardens, and just as she sensed, Loki was there.
“Don't worry, my darlings,” the woman said in her usual playful tone. “I come in peace. I just wanted to see you,” she said, looking at her silently.
The three of them looked at each other, and the summoner nodded. Then the two of them walked away, but they weren't listening to the conversation. Vicky took a breath as she looked at her.
“Well done, my dear. You've done something that seemed impossible.”
“I've been told that many times,” the summoner replied.
“Oh, you can do many things. If your family had told you everything about your background…”
“Who told you they hadn't?” she asked, and she told her. “Only that many things have been diluted, and many didn't understand Zenith's writing.” She saw the woman swallow, while the redhead looked away. “Gróa… she's my ancestor's mother, right? The one you gave your blood to.”
“Yes. She was always devoted to me. For her long years of service, I gave her my blood.” She let out a sigh and said, “I think it was a mistake. She didn't end well.” She hesitated, but the goddess stroked her cheek. “And believe me, I'll make sure the same thing doesn't happen this time.” She took her hand off. “I'm leaving. I think we'll see each other again.”
“She must be the reason,” she said, remembering the dreams she'd had.
Loki smiled. “Until then, my little one. Enjoy your honeymoon.” And as if nothing had happened, the goddess just vanished.
The two men reached her. “Are you OK?” the man with the silver hair asked. She nodded.
“Let's go back.”
They both nodded as she joined hands with theirs, and they walked through the castle. She knew the war wasn't over.
But she knew that their will was stronger. And that could change things a lot.
