It was the summer holidays. Harry, Ginny, and Tracey continued their relentless training. They had decided to induct their friend group, known as the Journal Group, into their War Council, currently known as the Horcrux Committee, in a couple of weeks. They were going to use the brand-new War Council Conference Room at the still being worked on Marauder Complex, which was going to be a massive Manor complex, with plenty of guest wings and a few guest buildings being built by a firm hired by Sirius Black, Harry’s Godfather. When completed, it would be easily ten times the size of Davis Manor and could house over a thousand people easily, meant to be the command center and headquarters of the next War. It was quite a bit ahead of schedule, and the base structures would be completed by the end of the year, and fully furnished by the next year. When it was completed, it would be kept a secret and ready for inhabitants at the first sign of trouble.
But for now, it was not ready. The new conference room was one of the things they built first, so it was ready. The new War Council would have too many members to conduct at Davis Manor, hence the need for the new space. The meeting was scheduled for the first of July.
For now, the trio trained, played Quidditch with their friends, and did research on the Chamber of Secrets.
All of a sudden, their usual routine was knocked sideways by the arrival of a handsome eagle owl one evening. It held a letter, bearing the seal of the Ancient and Noble House of Flamel. It invited Harry and Ginny to Flamel Island the next day for a meeting. Harry and Ginny looked across the table at the Burrow at each other. It seemed as though the biggest mystery in their lives was about to be solved, the mystery of the birth bond between the two.

The next morning, Harry and Ginny travelled via Floo to the address given to them. Upon arrival, they saw a house elf waiting for them. The house elf, named Stink, brought them to a large manor house. Upon entering, they found two very old looking people sitting on a couch in a sitting room.
It appeared that they had found two of the most famous people in the magical world, Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel. Nicholas started speaking.
“Hi, Harry, Ginny. I am Nicholas Flamel. First of all, I want to thank you for saving my Stone from the hands of evil. We have recently received a message from the Goblin in charge of the Flamel account, and we understand that you are also birth bonded. We apologize for not getting to you sooner, but we do not often go to Gringotts. You see, we are kept alive by the Elixir of Life, and in the process of producing this Elixir, gold is produced. We go about once every five years or so to Gringotts to store the gold we produce, and it was on our last trip that we got the news.”
“My husband and I are indeed birth bonded, and after some discussion, we believe that we should tell you about what to expect, and to answer any questions you may have on the topic, since now we both have a limited life span. We believe that we will be able to live for about two years, so we hope to be able to pass on some of our extensive knowledge on to you.” Perenelle continued.
“Wait, why do you have a limited life span? I thought that you could live forever as long as the Stone continued to produce the Elixir of Life?” Ginny asked.
“Indeed, my dear girl, indeed. However, after the events of last year, my lovely wife and I have decided that having such a powerful object in existence would not be good for the magical world. Therefore, we have both decided that we should simply store as much Elixir as we can, which in this case is two years worth of it, and train the two of you to be our successors.” Nicholas replied.
“We want to pass on a few key pieces of knowledge. First of all, we will be passing on Flamel Family Magic to the both of you, since much of the Family Magic we have developed over the past few hundred years have to do with the Soul Bond. Critically, we have been able to channel the power of the Bond into spells normal people cannot cast, including a special shield we have developed that absorbs the power of the spell, making it stronger with every spell cast. This also means that it does not need to be maintained. However, this shield needs to be repowered every month or so. Another useful little spell we have developed is called the bullet spell, after the things that Muggles shoot out of their guns. This spell would punch through anything in it’s way, and it’s effective range is about a hundred yards. These spells are all powered by the Soul Bond, and are all insanely powerful.” Perenelle added. By this time, Harry and Ginny’s eyes were wide as saucers.
“Second of all, we would like to teach you how to make your own Staff. A Staff is used to channel magic, just like a wand. I would like both of you to take the Animagi Revealing Potion, so that we can find out if you can become Animagi. This would be very important for our next few points.” Nicholas continued.
“Uh, we both can become Animagi. We share the same forms of a stag and a doe, our phoenixes are similar to the colour of our hair, and we both have a mermaid form, and we can combine into the form of a dragon, sir.” Harry replied.
“Ah, that is good, very good. You see, the two of you are very powerful. Have you ever had something called the Arithmatic Power Test done on you?” Nicholas asked.
“Yes, sir. We tested a 7.4 each, and together, we have tested somewhere between eleven and twelve, which leads us to our first question, how is it possible that we have a result higher than the maximum of ten?” Ginny asked.
“Ah. We each have a power level of 6.8, and our combined power level is just over ten. We believe that the combined power flows is from Magic itself, and therefore, cannot be channeled through a wand. This is why we both possess a Staff, which does not focus magic, it channels magic. This allows for infinite amounts of magic to flow through it, and it would provide an output over a thousand times more powerful than any wand, even battle wands. And for off the shelf wands that you can buy at Ollivanders, the Staff would be more than ten thousand times more powerful. When paired with your bond, this makes it a weapon of mass destruction. You see, a wand is designed to channel power through a magical object, but such an object is capped at a power of about eight. That is what makes the Elder Wand, the Deathly Hallow that Albus possesses, so powerful, it has a cap of nine, due to it’s combination of Thestral tail hair and Elder wood.” Nicholas explained.
“Wait, Professor Dumbledore actually possesses the Elder Wand? But that means…” Harry trailed off, looking at Ginny.
That means that there is no way that the other Deathly Hallows are the horcruxes! But then, what can the horcruxes be?
Well, it probably is what we currently think it is, which is the Ravenclaw’s Diadem or Gryffindor’s Sword. We also need to find the Slytherin Locket.
Well, at least we can confirm that Professor Dumbledore has the Elder Wand, which means that Voldemort would not possess such a powerful magical object.
Yeah, true.
Hey, they are staring at us! We are being impolite right now by ignoring our hosts and doing this ourselves!
Oh, shit! Hope we are not scolded too terribly. They are trying to give us a lot of knowledge, all of which would be very useful to us.
“We apologize for that, Mr and Mrs Flamel. I hope you do not find it too impolite.” Harry apologized.
“Ah, no need for that, young ones. You see, both of us have used telepathy in front of others too many times to count. If you don’t mind though, can you tell us what seems to be bothering the both of you? I sensed some unease about what would happen in the future from both of you. Don’t worry, we wont tell a soul, after all, the two of you are the first people we have talked to for almost a century.” Perenelle asked.
Harry and Ginny looked at each other. They both knew that they were technically not supposed to talk about the horcruxes to anyone, but Nicholas and Perenelle had this air around them that instinctively made them trust the elder couple. Moreover, what they said was true, as far as they knew; the elder couple had been reclusive for almost a century. This made it unlikely that they would ever spill their secret, and any advice they had would be invaluable. Quickly coming to the same conclusion, Harry turned to the elder couple, and prepared for his story.
“Back when I was a baby, there was a prophecy made about me. It basically stated that in the future, I would have to face Lord Voldemort, and that ‘neither can live while the other survives’. It is believed by the Wizarding world at large that Lord Voldemort is dead, but it is not true. You see, he made these things, called horcruxes, to anchor himself to life. That was why he possessed Professor Quirrell last year, who tried to steal your Stone. It would return him to his body. We know that he has made six horcruxes, including one inside of me. I have had it removed by an exorcism ritual. We have also remove soul fragments from the Resurrection Stone, and the Hufflepuff Cup. We destroyed a diary containing another segment of his soul. We believe that the remaining segment is in either the Ravenclaw Diadem or the Gryffindor Sword, though we are not sure which item it is in.” Harry explained.
“The prophecy also mentioned a power that the Dark Lord knows not. We believe that it is the power of the soul bond, which is why we have been training to defeat him. We are going to need all the help we can get, so we very much appreciate you teaching us all of this.” Ginny finished.
Nicholas and Perenelle looked at each other, obviously having a telepathic conversation. After a while, Nicholas looked back at them, clearly having made a decision.
“Due to this, we have decided that we should teach you as much of our soul bond battle magic as possible. I would like the two of you to come here as much as possible during the summer, so that we can teach you the ways to use the Soul Bond in a battle. We would also like the two of you to achieve your Phoenix forms as soon as possible, so that we can use your own feathers for the Staff. I think that you should be able to finish making the Staff at the end of the next year. We will also be writing to Professor Dumbledore, excusing the two of you from some of your classes for special training with the two of us. Given the wars we have lived through, I have some advice for the two of you. I think that just knowing how to duel with magic is not enough. You should learn sword fighting, and also dagger fighting, which would give you an extreme advantage. Also, make an army as fast as possible. You are in Hogwarts, it should be easier to gather people who would be useful in this.”
Perenelle took over. “I think that although you have to prepare for the upcoming war, it should be kept a secret as long as possible. Once you have your inner circle of friends, a group of people you can trust absolutely, lock it. You should not lock it yet, as there may be new people you have not met yet. But the moment that Voldemort rises again, lock it. You have the inner circle you trust absolutely, and no one else enters, no matter how much they prove themselves. It may all be a ploy. Inside the Inner Circle, you have to make sure that everyone trusts everyone else absolutely.”
Harry and Ginny nodded. They knew that the beginnings of their Inner Circle was already formed, in the form of the War Council. Harry then noted the time on the clock.
“Mr and Mrs Flamel, I appreciate you offering to teach us. But we are approaching the time where we must head home. We will discuss with out parents about this, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Is this possible?”
“Of course, young Harry, of course. I know that this is a lot to take in. Well, my wife and I will be here tomorrow to continue talking with you about the Soul Bond. I assume that that is alright with the two of you?”
“Well, I think that it would be a good idea to start after we brief the rest of our War Council on this, which is happening in about two weeks. If we disappear before then, it would raise suspicions. Could we spend the two weeks with our family, then we would try to spend the rest of the summer training here?” Ginny asked.
“Of course! In fact, I think that it would be a good idea for the two of you to live here part of the time, as it would allow us to spend a lot more time together. Do talk to your parents about it, and we will talk again in two weeks.” Nicholas graciously offered.
With a round of goodbyes, Harry and Ginny left the room. Neither of them noticed that they were holding hands for comfort.
