Work Text:

"STOP STOP STOP!!" The band director yelled as the music came to a not-so-nice end. "You all are getting it wrong! I said measure 35 not 45! You know what? Screw this. From THE TOP everyone. That means THE START OF THE SONG. Got it? Ok. 1, 2, 3, 4!" He was instantly cut off right after he said four. The band was playing much better now. The Flutes were on time, that one Double Bass had finally gotten in-tune, the Violins were no longer squeaking (minus Alex, who just had a squeaky violin. You know the one. That one that is either always out-of-tune, or squeaks too much, or just downright refuses to play. Not Alex's fault. They just got the bad one.), the Trumpets were surprisingly not on their phones but the band director wasn't going to say anything. Things were going smoothly. Then, the door to the band room swung open with a bang!
"Alright y'all, get the instruments ya need and lets get the hell out of here!" Jonny shouted this before trailing off and looking around the room with a look of shock. He grinned maniacally. "Well looks like there's a band in here! Might as well have some fun, the show doesn't start for another 7 hours!" He was immediately shoved out of the way with an oof by Ivy, who stepped into the room and immediately walked over to the flute section. She grabbed one of the flutes and nodded. This would do. As she examined it, Tim, Nastya, Marius, and Brian all ran into the drum closet where all the instruments were kept. Ashes walked over to the basses and took one. TS... TS was talking with the percussionists. The students were confused. The conductor was angry.
"What in the name of our lord and savior Beethoven are you doing here? Who are you all?" Jonny smiled at his words. Tim, Nastya, Marius, and Brian walked out of the closet holding a guitar, viola, and banjo respectively (Marius walked out with nothing. he would have his violin when he needed it). Ashes walked over, still holding the bass, followed by TS. Tim grinned.
"Well let us introduce ourselves! We have time enough to teach you all a little something!" As Jonny spoke, he waved his hand around. The poor little six graders just trying to play band were transfixed. "First up, we have our Quartermaster, Ashes O'Reilly," he paused for dramatic effect as Ashes stepped forward with a bow. "Gunpowder Tim, our weapons master," Tim followed in bowing. "Raphaella La Cognizi, our science officer; Drumbot Brian, our pilot; Nastya Rasputin, our engineer; Ivy Alexandria, our Archivist; Baron Marius Von Raum, Neither a Baron nor a Doctor; Toy Soldier, its here and we cant get it to leave! And last but certainly not least, your humble captain, Myself. Jonny D'Ville!"
"FIRST MATE!" cried out all the others. He flipped them off.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are The Mechanisms! A crew of immortal space pirates roaming the universe, having fun, violence, adventure, violence, violence. Now let us tell you a tale, one of hope, and fighting, death and destruction, heroes and villains. I give you, High Noon Over Camelot!"
They started singing. It was beautiful. The way their voices weaved the music itself... it was a wonder to behold. They sang and played and sang and played and sang and played and sang. The band was filled with wonder. The conductor looked peaceful, even though they were singing about death, destruction, and violence.
"And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, Was High Noon Over Camelot. Remember; Skip school, Drink, Swear, Fight, and most importantly; Evade Taxes!! That is all for now, if you liked this you should consider coming to our show; 22:30 at the local amphitheater. Cant wait to see you there!"
And they left. With the instruments they had stolen. And Marius's violin disappeared to wherever it goes when he doesn't use it. The entire band, including conductor, stared at where they had left. What a story they would have to tell to their friends and family.
