After spending a day at the Louvre, Nicky and Nile sat down in the grass waiting for Joe.
Nile: "Thanks for showing me the Mona Lisa."
Nicky: "You are welcome. Did you like the painting?"
Nile: "Yes, I just wish I could have gotten a closer look at it."
Nicky: "We could break into the museum tonight if you want."
Nile: "I know you well enough to know you would do it for me, but I prefer to play tourist without having the cops after me."
Nicky: "Okay, but let me know if you change your mind."
Nile promised, and it didn't take long before Joe showed up with sandwiches, fruit and wine.
Nicky: "Did you know Joe once owned the Mona Lisa for like five minutes back in 1510?"
Nile stopped chewing and looked gobsmacked at Joe and Nicky.
Nile: "What? You are joking."
Nicky: "Nope, I am not."
Nile: "I need to know, how did you end up with the Mona Lisa? Did you steal it?"
Joe chuckled.
Joe: "No, I did not steal it. Okay, long story short. I played a lot of cards with the great Italian Renaissance painters, and one night, da Vinci lost, which meant he owed me money, and it was a lot of money. Da Vinci claimed he didn't have the money, so, according to the rules we made before starting the card game, I could select the finest piece of art he had in his studio, and I chose the Mona Lisa."
Joe ate a few grapes.
Joe: "I didn't get far from da Vinci's studio before he came running with the money he owed me, and he got his painting back."
Joe fed Nicky a few grapes.
Nile: "There are days when I don't know if you are pulling my legs or not with your stories, Joe."
Joe smirked.
Nile: "But even if you are pulling my legs, I still like your stories."
Joe: "Thanks."
They saw Nicky turning his head.
Nicky: "I think I heard an ice cream truck."
Joe: "Which means you did do it, so go, we will be here when you return."
Nicky smiled, and after kissing Joe and hugging Nile, he started searching for the ice cream truck.
Joe: "So, Nile, what else do you want to see now that we are in Paris?"
Nile found her list, and together with Joe, they came up with a plan, which they shared with Nicky when he rejoined them with ice cream, and he agreed to their plan.
