Jet Star couldn't calm Kobra down. She could only watch as he paced around the parking lot and violently kicked at the walls of the diner.
“Why the fuck would they abandon me!? They promised to stay!!!” Kobra screamed as he kicked the diner wall again.
Jet could only look down at the ground. She had found the notes first. Party's only said that they were sorry and to take care of Kobra. Fun Ghoul's however was lengthy. Apologizing profusely for being a spongehead. For being a burden. For being a sparkie.
To Jet it seemed like the note had been meant for an entirely separate crew. Not the one he and Party had painstakingly pieced together.
Jet could feel themself burning out. Everything had gone to shit so fucking fast. First it was the run away from the Calvary, then it was Party's first suicide attempt, then Fun Ghoul ran off, then Party was MIA for two weeks, and now they'd gone off to Mercy each other.
“I hate them!!! I hate Party!!!” Kobra screamed.
Jet couldn't take it. She wouldn't let anyone talk about Party like that. Before she had even realized it she struck Kobra in the face. Nothing harsh just a slap. That was fucking child's play in the Zones and yet Jet felt shame pooling in their stomach.
“Kobra I didn't…” Jet began.
Kobra had quieted down and looked distant and haunted. Jet had gathered bits and pieces and filled in the gaps with his own experiences.
Kobra had inadvertently taken the fall for Party so so many times back in Battery City and Party never knew.
Jet knew what Party had done or more accurately was forced to do. In the eyes of BL/ind Party was too feminine to be a boy. And biologically that was true, Party had even agreed with it much to Jet's displeasure.
Party grew up dressed as a boy despite that. Their parents taught them early to be silent around anyone outside their immediate family.
This is where they differed. Party had tried to hide. Tried to pretend that they were just a normal mute boy in The City.
Jet however refused to be that way. They hadn't even known each other in the city and yet they were connected by it's cruelty in a way the Kobra couldn't get. In a way that a Sand Pup like Ghoul couldn't get.
Jet was what BL/ind would say is too masculine to be a girl but that wasn't how Jet felt. She was everything and nothing at once for as long as she could remember.
Even as a child she managed to sneak off and hang around Juvie Halls.
She and Party were marked early as threats by extension Kobra was also marked.
“They wouldn't abandon you Kobra. They wouldn't. Party saved you from Battery City. They love you to death Kobra Kid. They… they are just lost right now. They aren't ghosted.” Jet whispered.
What if its a lie? What if they truly are gone? Fun Ghoul… Party Poison… Why didn't you let me help?
The Phoenix Witch had to be real and answering Jet's prayers because as a cloud of dust rolled over she heard the oh so familiar sound of the Trans Am skidding to a halt.
“Party! Ghoul!” Jet shouted as she ran to the passenger window and basically dragged the redhead out the window partially.” You are fucking alive!”
Jet still felt like she was extinguishing slower but still flickering out.
A dying star. How poetic.
