   He should feel worse.

   If that makes no sense, you're right. Ritsu has no idea why he's doing this. He's neglected sleep, pushed himself to take more tasks on an already full plate, and worked himself out physically as well. (He counts straining his powers also part of physical work. It has the same effect on the body.)

   There's no reason for it. Perhaps he just wanted a reminder that he is human by feeling pain.

   Or maybe he wanted someone to notice.
