Chapter 1: Introduction !
Chapter Text
Hello everyone !
October is the month for creative people ! There's always some kind of 31-day-long challenges or prompts I see around social media and it inspired me to write again !
I've kinda fallen off the habit of writing, and I really want to get back into it ! I have so many ideas but instead of writing them, I just lie there and imagine...
I don't know how my writing will feel for others (because your writing will always seem weird or good to you) so please don't hesitate to comment !
In terms of what I'll write, it's really what I said on the summary: just a blorb about my interpretation of the colorza, and a little expansion of their "universe" ! I'll try to talk about everyone, and talk about everyone an equal amount, they're all interesting !
I hope everyone enjoys this :-)
Chapter Text
Let's start this series with the first colour of the rainbow: Red ! And that means Phin is up.
Something that we need to keep in mind is the fact that Phin is the "opposite" of Philza, since red is the opposite of green on the colour wheel. That's his whole thing, so let's take that idea a bit further.
Since Philza is, essentially, an anime guy, what if Phin was a traditional Japanese oni ? Have the contrast be a "traditional Japan vs. modern Japan" thing. I think it's an interesting approach.
Phin has, in my mind, long hair. Like... c!technoblade levels of long. But, unlike Techno, Phin ties his hair up. I see him with elaborate buns and braids, even some hair wrapped around his horn. And yes, horn singular. Onis are typically depicted with two, but I prefer one, in the upper centre of the forehead near the hairline. The horn would be straight and bright red, perfect for goring :) Red eyes, of course, and sharp canines.
In terms of outfit, I'm torn between getting him in armour or leaving "barbarian style". And in terms of body he'd be huuuuuge. Both in height and weight. Phin is a giant that looks like he could throw a house with ease. He has a lot of scars though, since he tends to get into fights a lot. His body is a little chubby, but it follows the muscles instead of being... I don't really know how to describe it but it doesn't "hang" like "normal" fat. Don't know if that makes sense written like that but let's hope...
Since he's the opposite of Philza, Phin is an aggressive, hot-headed warrior that takes pride in himself, his battle prowess, his scars... basically everything you can be proud of, he'll boast about. Phin's main strategy in battle is "hit hard and overwhelm the enemy", using his physical strength to deal out big hits with his axe and withstand the wounds he gets. He thinks and plans, of course, but only if the opponent turns out to be stronger than he thought. Phin simply attacking can be terrifying, but Phin actually fighting ? Putting in effort and concentrating ? That's even worse, talk about brawn and brains. Phin's not some meathead (tho he appears to be sometimes...) he's just aggressive and angers easily.
I think that, since Philza represents more of a "general" idea of death for me, Phin is specifically "death in battle". Phin is a bloody death, one where bodies are mangled and pain is the last thing you feel. It could be something similar to the nordic Valhallah, the afterlife reserved to warriors and those who died in battle. But I think he can also be battle. He's the battle itself, the violence and brutality of it, blood everywhere and you're not sure how much is yours... That's why I've chosen the title "Bloody Angel", because it represents the violence of war and the victims of it. At first I thought of "Angel of War" but it felt too "four knights of the apocalypse" and I didn't like it at all.
As for Kristen, I think she could be the goddess of war and violence. And with war comes bloodshed. She's a powerful goddess, one that lurks in every moment of anger, one that seeps in your envy... And Phin would be the result of her whispers, of her gently pushing you to act, to take revenge, to just take.
Notes:
There we go ! I'm proud of myself :-)
I think that I managed to lay down my thoughts pretty well, but please don't hesitate to comment and tell me your thoughts ! I'd love to hear your thoughts too
Chapter 3: Flynn, Mechanical Angel
Notes:
Flynn was a little harder to get all of it clearly. I think that the less talked about colorzas will all be a little hard since they have more headcanons than the popular ones.
Chapter Text
Next up is Orange, which means we'll talk about Flynn this time !
Orange is a colour that represents creativity, enthusiasm, youth and warmth, and I think that fits his already existing persona ! Plus, I like the idea of Flynn being the redstone engineer of the group, it feels like each colorza has a "role" of some sort.
Flynn has a lot of mechanical/steampunk elements, and I'd like to keep that idea, since it fits with the whole "redstone engineer" thing, but I think we can push it a little further. I think Flynn is a builder in general, an architect who loves to create and think of bigger and more ambitious builds. I like to think he sculpts and carves, he makes models and maybe origami; basically his hands are always busy and bandaged.
Flynn would cut his hair himself, and that would result in a short, choppy style that is often messed up. But he hides it all with a small ponytail. I imagine him with small bangs, maybe piecey bangs. His eyes are orange, but not as bright as one might think. They're a deep amber, almost brown when in shadows. But most of the time, he has copper goggles on, ones with the multiple lenses to "zoom in" and focus on the little details. His tan skin often has traces of redstones or dye on it, and his hands have some nicks everywhere.
His outfit is as messy as he is, often torn and spotted with dirt. What he calls his "work clothes" are a simple black T-shirt, a utility belt with all his handy tools and cargo pants tucked into his steel-toed boots. If he has to hang out, he'll put on a gavroche, a waistcoat on top of a striped shirt and boots. I like to think he has a mechanical clock he made himself, instead of something like in Minecraft.
Flynn is a very positive person ! He's the kind of guy who always cheers you up or brings you into whatever is happening around him. He works hard all the time and doesn't really take breaks as often as he could, but his breaks are chill: a cup of tea, a book, and some good music on his gramophone (a jukebox he turned into a gramophone). Flynn, as a creative person, often gives little gifts to the other colorzas or offers to fix their stuff. He's always paying attention to others and how they do. He'd probably ask others for some materials because he's not that excited about exploring and gathering stuff...
I gave Flynn the title of "Mechanical Angel" because of his wings ! They're often portrayed as not being organic wings like the other colorza. In his "universe", so to speak, someone like Flynn would be held as a genius, an ambitious inventor who keeps breaking the limit of what we thought was possible. His ultimate invention ? His prosthetic wings. I like to believe that Flynn's original wings had to be removed or are useless in a way (maybe a birth defect, or a traumatic injury that forced the doctors to amputate his wings) but he's still an avian, he still has that need to fly. So he worked to create the first elytra, and he finally did. It works like a backpack that connects to the base of his neck, so it can move as naturally as possible. That's what people call him "The Mechanical Angel": he's a godsent (an angel) in terms of technology and invention and also his wings are mechanical. He's very protective of his prosthetics, and won't let anyone else touch them in fear of that person accidentally breaking them.
Kristen is the goddess of creativity and imagination in this universe. She's like a muse; she inspires people in various ways. That's why she's also a goddess of the art, of literature, of theatre, of speech, etc... She has a very large domain, but they're all very powerful goddesses.
Chapter 4: Fletcher, Angel of Light
Notes:
I'm writing from my phone, so please forgive any formatting issues or typos ^w^
Chapter Text
For the fourth day, we have the third colour: Yellow !
I actually really like Fletcher ! Or at least, the idea I have on him. He seemed focused on flight, with the little wings on his head and the yellow makes me think of the sun. So I kinda focused on that for my headcanons. Since he's sky-focused, I think he's an explorer. He flies all over worlds, discovering new fauna and flora and monuments, writing in his diary his journey and his findings. He would be skilled with a bow, firing from far away to hit prey or to mark something...
Fletcher has a slight tan like Flynn, but it’s mostly on his arms. His hat, a boonie hat perfect for exploring, and facial wings would protect his face and he would wear harem pants with some good shoes for exploring. He would switch to cargo pants and high boots if he knew swamps would be in his path. His shirt would be a simple T-shirt or a tube top, so that the sleeves don’t get in his way. Fletcher wouldn’t wear yellow in everyday life (too noticable by animals) but his casual wear would be. It would also be a little fancier, with gold details and tailored clothes and fancy embroidery everywhere.
In terms of personality, I like to see him as... not arrogant, but so sure of himself that it comes off as arrogance to others. He's proud like a peacock (maybe he could be like one ? And have each colorza be a different type of bird ? An idea) and you'll know it. He's very sociable too, and may have had a habit of sweeping people off their feet before meeting Kristen. Now he's more gentlemanly than flirty but still, very tactile and suave in his way of being. Fletcher always tries to have a good time, and to make sure you have a good time as well. If you don’t, then don’t sour the mood and leave; if you do, come and party !! That kind of guy. He tries to be the centre of attention, whether by saving the day or making sure everyone is good. Fletcher likes the attention, the praise but he doesn’t seek it out of insecurity, he simply believes that's what he should do. With great power comes great responsability.
His title came in two parts, in my mind: first, the "angel" part. It came from his flight, from the fact that he's in the sky so often and that he often swoops in to save the day. People starting calling him an angel because of that, coming from the sky to help them. The other part comes with his biggest feat: flying to the domain of the goddesses, which is in the clouds. He flew and came back bearing the touch of the goddess of light, becoming "The Angel of Light".
Chapter 5: Philza, Angel of Death
Chapter Text
Even if he's technically not in the colorza, I feel like it would be wrong to not talk about our main guy, the OG: Philza.
Considering the fact that he's got Quite the story (knowing that DSMP and QSMP Philza are canoncially the same, don’t know about the rest), this will simply be me digging a little more into what lore the DSMP has given us.
Philza, in my mind, looks wrong. There's always something on his face that makes your brain panic everso slightly... There's always that little feeling of "You're not talking to a human." when dealing with Philza. Personally, I think it’s three things:
His eyes. They're too blue, too still, too observing. He sees every little movement on your face before you even realise you're making it.
His skin. It's pale and cold to the touch; but it’s flawless. There isn’t a scar, not a blemish of any kind, no freckles, no old bruises, no moles, not even traces of heat or cold no matter how long he spends in those climates... It’s too clean, too perfect. And if you know he's immortal, it's even worse. A man can’t live that long without proof on his body, no normal man can do that...
His movements. First of all, Philza is quiet, you will not hear him come. You could be in the deadest of silence, surrounded by the crunchiest snow, and he'll still make no noise. Second, they're either fluid or jerky. He'll give you a cup of tea with a movement so strained that the tea will spill out from the sudden movement, but the way he goes to sit in his chair will not make his clothes move.
Also, since Philza has lived for centuries -and that those centuries were mostly spent alone- he doesn’t talk much. There are time where he would just... forget Techno existed, because he's so used to being alone. There are times where he wonders if he's real, if he truly exists or he's just... something people see before death. The only way for him to snap out of those dissasociation episode would be having someone else react to him: a reply, a gasp, giving him something, pointing him out in a crowd. Then he would realise that he can be seen, that he has an impact on the world, that he's real and alive.
Philza, to me, isn’t really an angel. He's more of a messanger/personnification of Death. He was chosen by Kristen to accompany the souls to her, instead of them wandering around. So, in a way, Philza is also a god of death. He still prefers the title "Angel" because it's what Kristen calls him.
Kristen would be the goddess of death, yes, but I think she would be the goddess of the undead now, since she transfers more of the "death" part to Philza. Now, she guides souls to her in limbo/paradise/hell. She keeps them there too, making sure that everyone is where they're supposed to be and that everyone is dead. She knows when and how things should die, and can send Philza over to accompany the soul or to kill the person who's refusing Death.
Chapter 6: Blueza, Angel of the Ocean
Chapter Text
Hello, hello ! Today we're talking about the colorza that will be the most different from his canon: Finley !
Finley is often depicted with horns, and apparently he's nicknamed "Fawn" by the community. While I like the nickname, I don’t like the antler/wing mix, so I'll be reworking all of that ! But one thing I will keep (somewhat) is the association with cold and the swony tundra of the Antarctic Empire but broadening it to water in all its states. He would be the more "mystical" of the colorza, not seen often and not interacting with humans all that often.
Finely is pale, as a result of him being in the cold tundra or deep in the ocean all the time. He would have veeeeeeeery long hair, almost as long as him and completely unmanagable on earth. He would have big eyes with a deep blue colour, and those second transparent eyelids camels have, but for water. Finely also has gills on his throat, and very sharp teeth, tho he doesn’t speak enough to really see them...
Finley’s fingers are wrinkled the same way as us when we're in water too long to help him grab stuff, and his body is rather athletic. His wings, coated in oil to make them waterproof, are often used to swim great distances really fast (by doing the same motion as flying ! Kinda like the butterfly stroke for us) but he doesn’t use them often, he prefers to swim around calmly. He mostly wears a wetsuit, but if he goes on land, he’ll layer it with comfy clothes like hoodies and sweatpants. If he has to go out, he'll try to look his best (especially now that he's an angel, even if most people don’t know he is the angel). I see Finely wearing those shirtless sleeves and bootcut pants, and his style being a mix between Hama girl, mizuiro and cottagecore (very chaotic of a description).
Personality wise, Finely is anxious. What if he's weird or say the wrong or accidentally says something offensive or stares wrong or they try to touch him, or his hair, or his hands, or his gills ? Being away from people helps him relax and get his thoughts straight. He's also a bit of a people pleaser, as an attempt at making friends (hence the name "fawn", like "fawning to someone" to avoid confrontation) but under all that stress, once he's comfortable with you, Finley is a calming presence. He'll listen to you and help you settle down, he'll gently push you to do what you truly want (without insisting too much because what if it’s weird ? He shouldn’t care that much, should he ? Or maybe he's not caring enough ? What's the balance, how do you decide ?)
I've decided on the name of "Angel of the Ocean" to give him a mysterious vibe. No one in his universe really know him, how he acts or why he does what he does. He's just "the Angel of the Ocean"... Finley is mostly an agent of his goddess, acting her whims and serving as her embodiment in the material world.
Kristen is the goddess of water, of seas and oceans. She rules over the rain and storms, and has all aquatic life as her servants. She doesn’t really have a solid body, unlike others, because water holds no real shape for long. She is patient, and loves her angel dearly but can be ruthless and destructive as well.
Chapter 7: Florence, Magical Angel
Notes:
Back at home, back on my computer >w< You should see better formatting and text ! Writing on my phone made the text so very small and scrolling up to correct was horrible, as well as making text bold or italic...
Chapter Text
We're more than halfway there now ! We can talk about the strangest colorza: Florence !
Florence is often associated with cats, for some reason. But I like it, and I'll take that and purple's associations with magic, royalty and mystery to make him a new title and personality. Now, Florence is a grand priest of a temple (I'll let you guess who the goddess is) and a dedicated follower. Due to his religious title, he remains haughty and proud of himself. Maybe, instead of having cat ears and a tail, he could have those little feather tufts that owls have. Maybe have an apparent tail that fans behind him...
Florence's hair reaches his mid-back, and is often braided beautifully and dyed purple at the end. His face is a "Kitsune face", meaning he has a narrow face, close eyes (that I picture upturned), thin eyebrows and high cheekbones. His feather tufts actually start at his ears, because they help him hear better (apparently he has a such a fine sense of hearing that he can hear the goddess). He would also wear makeup, I think. Something that would bring out his natural beauty, but also some more significant, religious stuff around his eyes and his forehead to represent his connection to the goddess.
His outfit is very elaborate: layers on layers of decorated clothing that make him look as regal as a king. The outfit is somewhat similar to a shrine maiden's uniform, with embroidered pants, and decorated kosode (the upper shirt) that would be cut to accommodate his wings and tail. Other than his grand priest uniform, he would wear equally fancy clothes: silk shirts, expensive pants, leather boots, velvet gloves and other rich things. His body would be... normal. Not too thin, not too thick, not too much muscle...
Florence, in this iteration of mine, still is a haughty little fuck. Quite literally believes that he's holier than you, and will make sure you remember that. But he's kind to his followers and those who need help, a trait that not many will believe if they've first met the cocky grand priest. He'll hold himself to a high standard as the grand priest and angel of his goddess, and he makes sure that he is worthy of what he was given. In private, with those he trusts, Florence is tired. He holds a lot of responsibility and pressures himself a lot, so he just wants to be able to relax and not be this almighty figure all the time... But, he lost himself in this title, and he doesn't really know how to relax, how to be someone normal again... how to be Florence again, instead of the angel and grand priest.
His official, full title in his universe is "The grand priest, Pythia of our Goddess Trixin and Magical guiding Angel of the temple". (No, I don't have a name for the temple or religion, sorry) but it's often shortened to "Grand Priest" or "Magical Angel". And I'll talk about Kristen too in the same paragraph because they're very connected. Kristen is the goddess of magic and is treated as one of the most fundamental goddesses of this world, alongside life, death, the elements and food. All dieties have an angel, a messenger that's chosen to convey their message. Kristen has chosen Florence because of his devotion to her, and how he so strongly believes in her. Since Florence is an angel for the goddess of magic, he has access to magic, something that's not common in his world. He has telekinesis, telepathy, mind reading, astral projection (which includes dream walking) and precognition (only for important things, he's not foreseeing what the weather is tomorrow)
Chapter 8: Pheo, Angel of Love
Chapter Text
We're finally out of the rainbow with pink and its colorza: Pheo !
I already like Pheo a lot, so I'll just deepen the lore already there and add my thing into it... Pheo doesn't really have a "job" like some of the colorzas. He just chills and helps people he finds and just... enjoys life !
Pheo, in my mind, has a "tanuki-gao": a round face like the youkais of the same name. To that, I add big round eyes and sligthly plum lips to give him a very cute and innocent face. His eyes are a light pink that can grow darker when he uses his magic. His hair reaches his back and is tied in various styles, depending on his mood: buns, braids, ponytails or even something more complex if he feels like it. Pheo isn't based on birds like his companions, but on a moth ! Specifically the rosy maple moth, and he has their fussy antennas, which help him smell and feel the wind as they're rather sensitive.
Pheo is the shortest colorza, with a sligthy plump body. His wings are just like the rosy maple moth, with a similar yellow on his wings than his hair colour. His clothing style is very cottagecore/fairycore, something that is comfortable and pretty. His back area is usually light, as to not bother his wings or accidentally bruise the edges with the constant rubbing. His hat is customised to have the brim a little shorter to not bristle his antennas. He has the most diverse wardrobe of the colorza, simply because he loves so many different styles and combinations, sometimes he even lends his clothes to the others when they need it.
Pheo is a lovely person ! He's always smiling about something and discovering a new little thing to show his friends. He has a very optimistic view about everything and everyone but that doesn't mean he's naive. Pheo is actually a good juge of character, and has good intuition. When faced with someone dangerous (or annoying), Pheo will flip 180°: cold, serious, hostile and will hurt and kill if necessary. Since Pheo was created by murdering hundred and thousand of endermen, he's incredibly powerful. But he doesn't want to use his power uselessly, and prefers things to be setlled amicably more than anything. When his hands is forced, Pheo's force is immesurable. He's quick and powerful, as Pheo boost his physical abilities with his magic. His magic can also be channeled externally as magical beams, but he rarely uses them.
Pheo was given his title not by the people, but by Kristen herself. Kristen is the goddess of emotions, the living soul, fate and one of the aspect of Life (with the god of the flesh, the diety of nature and the diety of death). She looked for a soulmate, for someone to share her own emotions with. She found Pheo, someone that loved every thing that he could see, and she decided to make him her angel, calling him "The Angel of Love" due to his strong appreciation for Life.
Chapter 9: Frey, Empty Angel
Chapter Text
Finally ending this descriptive part of my writetober with the most mysterious, the most enigmatic, possibly the weirdest colorza out there: Frey.
Frey being associated with the Void and this idea of emptyness is very interesting, and so I kept it. Frey doesn't really... do anything. He wanders, looking at the world around him, the people, anything...
Frey's face is... well, non-existent. It looks like a gaping, abyssal black hole. When you look into it, you're stuck looking into something that shouldn't exist, that shouldn't be there and it feels so... wrong. You get chills down your spine, you want to look away but can't, it keeps reeling you in and pushing you away, you keep telling yourself "this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong. He has a face that he can "put on" for blending in, but it's... not better. His eyes are vacant of life, and it feels too... fake. It makes people a little uncomfortable every time he wears it. His hair is always tied in a low ponytail and it reached the ground before meeting all the other colorzas. He never bothers to cut it, so someone usually cuts it for him reaaaaaal short so that they don't have to do it every week.
Frey is unusually tall, reaching around 2m80 (or 9ft 2in for the usamericans reading), and his clothing is what others give him. His only possession is his hat, which has a semi-opaque veil built in (look up what a "weimao" looks like, that's the perfect image I have), and his poncho. That match-up often makes him look a little... poor. He's very lanky, and his long clothes (and his height) accentuate this lankiness and add to that weird sense around him. I feel like Frey wouldn't have wings, or that he would be the only one with wings that can disappear and reappear.
Frey is... silent. But not out of creepiness, but a certain selective mutism. He doesn't feel like speaking is necessary for him, he doesn't really want to do it. He can, and he will if necessary but... he just doesn't want to. He spends most of his days in silence, communicating by pointing and miming. He wanders around and admires the world most of the time, but he also likes to be with the colorza. He sits with them, enjoying their banter and the mix of their personality and will join if invited, but prefers to watch and listen to them. Frey will often disappear for days or even months before coming back. He'll hand you something from his travels, and maybe tell you more if you ask.
Frey is the "Empty Angel" due to his dominion over the Void. Frey can control the Void under any and all worlds, which is what his "face hole" is. He's not an angel is the same way as the other, but he's an angel because Kristen is too. This duo are the only deities on their world: Kristen is Everything, Frey is Nothing. They make up the world as we know it, keeping everything under control and nothing overtakes something else. The reason Frey admires the world is that Kristen is in every little thing, and he loves to admire what she is. Kristen is mostly in the Void to be with her other part. Sometimes they get together, but they prefer to revel in what the other is, to be in their essence...
Chapter 10: First meetings
Notes:
Sorry, sorry !! I missed a day, I know... I'll try to make it up by posting one on November 1st... I was just so tired, I didn't think to write...
Chapter Text
Since we're done with introducing my version of the colorzas, we can finally see how all of them interact with each other !
First of all, from now on, all of the colorza "live" in the Hardcore world together. Their own universes mostly exist to give them a backstory and their own goddesses. They can travel back, but mostly stay in the Hardcore world. Even if they don't always get along, having another angel around is a relief for them; to have someone who understands the struggles of having so much pressure from being the goddess's messenger and chosen one, having everyone count on you and look to you for advice or help, admiring you and holding you to high standards all the time. Some can handle it, but others can't, and thus enjoy the respite of having a place where they can be themselves.
All of the colorzas try to be civil when in the Hardcore world, since it's not their own and don't want to drain it of resources for Philza, or destroy it with their fights. They all share tasks and chores around the house. I like to think that they all created their own room within the main home, to still have a piece of familiarity close by.
They all kinda discovered it accidentally, when all of their goddesses (who are all interconnected in a singular godly realm + the fact that they're all technically the same person) told them of the others, and they all decided to meet in the most peaceful and rural world (as to not shock people by having them see 7 angels in the same place, imagine seeing 7 extrodinary, god-like figures together...).
Pheo and Flynn were both very sociable, trying to know everyone. Fletcher was locked into a dick-measuring contest with Phin, Florence was already regretting those idiots and went to explore the world, Finley and Frey were simply watching all of that unfolding... Finley was nervous, trying to see where he could fit himself; Frey was simply watching, enjoying how all those different people's personalities interacted with each other...
Chapter 11: Interdynamics
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
This chapter will be all about how the colorza all behave with each other ! Who are friends, who can't stand each other, who are simply on good terms ?
The first thing, to me, is that Philza and Phin don't get along. Philza tries to be civil, but Phin constantly stirs shit, and it very often ends in a fight or an argument that Philza walks away from (because he's more emotionally mature than Phin). Sometimes, Pheo will step in and drag Phin away to let off some steam. Philza and Phin are the opposite of each other, and Phin is "the deepest, darkest thoughts" of our main man, plus Phin gets aggressive at the slightest hint of challenge. This doesn't mix well, as you can imagine...
Flynn is often out of the house because he's gathering materials. Fletcher often goes with him, since he explores a lot and knows where some resources can be found and helps with directions. The two of them are good friends, often seen talking around maps or Flynn's recent projects with a mug of hot tea... If the project is underwater, Flynn will try to find where Finley has hidden and ask him for help. It's also a way for him to include Finley a little more, since he tends to... sit around conversations and not join in.
Fletcher likes to hang around and chill: sunbathing, walking around the beach and collecting seashells, reading, taking care of the house (something he finds surprisingly relaxing, a nice break between exploring) and listening to the others' stories. When he's not at the house, however, he's gone for weeks, even months if he decides to pop back in his world for a visit. Since people are used to him not being there, when he does back, there's a slight period of 3-5 days where no one expects him to be there. You'll often hear Fletcher interrupting a rant with a sly "Oh, so that's what happens when I'm not there~" and a surprised yelp from whoever was talking.
However, the problem with being the one around the house is that you'll be with Frey more often. And Frey is creepy... He'll stay around you and just... stare. He doesn't reply to any questions asked, won't... tell you why he's here... Fletcher is often the one who's prey to the empty, silent glare of his black hole of a face...
Finley wanders around between the ocean and the house, and tries to meddle when he doesn't fall between fights and empty halls... When he manages to catch someone, he mostly tries to befriend them with food ! He's the one who cooks in the house, because he both likes it and it makes him feel important to others. He also shares the kitchen with Florence sometimes, because Florence treats cooking like a break. Cooking takes time, you can't rush it, and it allows him to... breathe. And Finley is quiet as well, so he appreciates Finley a little more than the others...
Pheo is... everywhere, but never alone. Often with Phin, he can also be seen with Frey and Finley. Our little moth baby tries his best to make sure that everyone is well and happy, fluttering from angel to angel, offering a hand, a shoulder or an ear to anyone who needs it.
Notes:
I've completely fucked my sleep schedule, so I'm too tired to write longer things, sorry if this chapter seems to end abruptly...
Chapter 12: Hybrids traits and small details
Chapter Text
Today I'll be talking about something that I personally really like: hybrid traits ! I really like hybrid traits, I think they bring out a side of the character, and what type of hybrid the character is portrayed as is always interesting ! I'm also including small details related to their species that are interesting
Phin is an oni, so he doesn't have wings like the others (which is something that sets him apart from Philza even more). Instead, he has a horn that needs to be taken care of, and he takes good care of it. His horn isn't made of keratin, like animal horns, but is made of straight-up bone; it's more solid and resistant, but constantly grows and can become too heavy for him. Phin will usually carve it out and clean it after a fight, to ensure that old blood doesn't stick to it and to sharpen it again. The only problem is that, since the horn is... well, attached to his forehead, it means that every time he sharpens it, he always ends up with little cuts on his hands or his forehead (if he carves near the base of it). He takes good care of it off the battlefield as well, this time focusing more on the cleaning aspect of it. He'll polish it, make sure the red colour hasn't been too bleached by the sun, apply protective oil on the horn and also clean up the seam between skin and bone (and all the cuts) to make sure nothing's infected or that nothing's stuck here (like little stones kicked up from fighting). I like to think he also made a kanabo, a Japanese studded club made mostly with iron, even if those don't exist in Minecraft.
Flynn, as I said, has mechanical wings that he created himself and he's very protective of them. They're like bionic prosthetics, having micro-processors that translate muscle and neurological movement in the residual limb into redstone inputs to make the wings move. However, Flynn has to take them off his underdeveloped wing "stubs" to clean them properly (and also to let the actual limb breathe), and it leaves him in a vulnerable state that he doesn't want others to see. After dinner is the only time when Flynn will actively refuse to be around others and chase them away; most believe that he just wants to relax and be in how now bubble, but it's because he feels vulnerable without his wings (a darker part of his mind feels incomplete, being with his winged friends while being wingless...). He'll bunker up in his room and clean any gunk and redstone powder that's in between the metallic feathers and check for rust (rust that can appear quickly, given the fact that it's iron and he's constantly outside). He'll apply protective oil very carefully, coating every inch before hanging them to dry and finally allowing himself to relax.
Fletcher would fly a lot, but also fly quite high. So I think that being a common crane would fit him best, since they migrate a long distance and can fly up to 10,000 meters (33,000 feet). I think that the greyish wings contrast nicely with the bright yellow, and that the bunching up of feathers at the end looks pretty funny. He and the other avians would all get together to preen and groom each other's wings as a pack. Due to his crane-ness, Fletcher tends to "migrate", going back to his homeworld or other places for months. He also gets very, very protective of his room, considering it his nest.
Philza is a crow, obviously. A carrion crow, to be exact, which fits the fact that he is the Angel of Death (carrion is another word for carcass, and carrion crows are scavengers, fits the whole "death" theme). When Philza calls out to someone, he'll often accompany his calls with a raise of his head. Carrion crows are very vocal, so Philza would make a lot of noise too, though it shows more when he's alone or very focused: he'll talk to himself, whistle, hum or click his tongue as he works on something or as a reaction. He also has small feathers around his nose and cheeks, peppered around like freckles. They're too small to be of any real use, but with them, Philza feels the wind a little better...
Finley, as someone who is often underwater, is a great northern diver (or common loon, for the Americans). That bird is known for diving for a long time and being a great swimmer, so it fits really well for Finley. Divers are known for their calls, and Finley has them as well: his laugh resembles the tremolo, he can do the wail and yodel call pretty well, and he often calls out to people with a simple "hey" or a gentle whistle, similar to a diver's hoot. As a diver hybrid, Finley is a pescatarian; he'll cook a main dish for the others and his own little plate on the side most of the time. He'll let others clean his wings, but he'll be the one who spreads the waterproof oil and powder he secretes to ensure that it's spread evenly and thoroughly.
Florence is a long-eared owl, and the fact that he's an owl means that he's more nocturnal than the others: he'll fall asleep later, but still tries to wake up early to be a part of society. He has the little ear tufts, but they also cover his forehead and link back to his actual ears, which don't have outer parts like the others ! Instead of having an external ear, he has those feathers that protect his auditory canal from damage, the cold, wind and other stuff. Like Fletcher, in a way, his wings are a nice contrast to his colour palette, and the pattern can be reused on his clothes. I don't know what it would look like, I'm not an artist, but I'd love to see people's renditions !
Pheo is the odd one out, as he's a rosy maple moth. His bushy antennas help him smell, actually (I thought they helped them hear or feel the wind or something like that...) ! They also get more active in the warmer months, and that translates to Pheo liking warmer temperatures and hating cold. Whether it's colder biomes or cold stuff touching him, he hates it !! Due to the name of his moth species, I also feel inclined to make him have a sweet tooth (because... maple. Like maple syrup... I'm hilarious). It's also because some adult moths eat nectar, which is sweet.
And then, we have Frey. Frey is... Weird. He's not a hybrid of anything, he's not anything known, he's just... Frey. As the embodiment of the Void, he doesn't need to eat or sleep or do what the others need to survive, but he still likes to participate. He likes, despite what he represents, to be around others. The Void exists only because things exists, it's in opposition to existence that nothingness exists. So he stays with others, and he is happy. He lets the others "preen" him as a way to be part of the group, and he learns to preen as well. He learns what the others like, how they do things, how they act. Even if he know that he makes people uncomfortable, he still asks and they still let him. And hey... he's actually pretty good, despite the lack of eyes to see what he's doing...
Chapter 13: Incorrect quotes ^^
Chapter Text
Using the websites "perchance.org/incorrect-quote-generator" and "incorrectquotes.org", I'll get some incorrect quotes that fit the colorzas ! I won't include Philza all the time, as we already know him lots, and Frey doesn't really fit... I'm not choosing which names are pulled, but I shuffle if the quote is cool, but the names don't fit.
Florence, about Phin: I like them, they have that, what do you call it?
Fletcher: Cold blooded ruthlessness?
Florence: No, that’s not it.
Florence: Ah, a knife, they have a knife.
Pheo: Why is everyone so obsessed with top or bottom? Honestly, I’d just be excited to have a bunk bed.
Florence:
Florence: I'm gonna tell them.
Fletcher: Don't you dare.
Phin: We need a diversion. I say Fletcher gets naked.
Pheo: No.
Phin: I could get naked.
The squad: NO!!!
Phin: The best way to gain someone's undying loyalty is by saving them from a perilous situation.
Philza: So you're just gonna wait until Pheo is in danger and save them?
Phin: Of course not, I'm going to create a situation that puts them in danger and then save them.
Philza: ...
Philza: You're insane.
Pheo: If you get in trouble, I'm gonna be like... a lawyer to you. Ok?
Phin: Okay.
*later*
Philza: Phin! Sit down on the chair, you're in trouble.
Pheo, whispering: Deny everything.
Phin, loudly: That isn't a chair.
Fletcher: Is letting someone win at chess sapiosexual bottoming?
Florence: Can everyone in this godforsaken group please learn the skill called "Think Before You Speak"?
Flynn: Ya know... it might be.
Finley, gardening: Hey, can you bring me the hoe?
Pheo: Yeah, sure.
*A few minutes later*
Pheo: Here you go.
Finley:
Pheo:
Fletcher: Why am I here?
Phin: I suppose you’re right.
We really would be better off working together.
Pheo: So, then… détente?
Phin: Agreed.
Pheo: Understanding?
Phin: Possibly.
Pheo: Cooperation?
Phin: Maybe.
Pheo: Trust?
Phin: Out of the question.
Pheo: Phin, when’s your birthday?
Phin: Why? So you can look up my natal chart? So you can figure out my weaknesses? So you can destroy me?
Pheo: …so I know when to wish you a happy birthday.
Pheo: Finley, you need to calm down.
Finley, slamming their fists on the table: BUT HOW CAN IT BE “BIRTHDAY CAKE” FLAVOR IF A BIRTHDAY CAKE CAN BE ANY FLAVOR?!
Flynn: I can’t believe we have to be stuck in this room together!
Fletcher, swallowing the key: Truly unfortunate.
Fletcher: Guess who just found out the difference between wax paper and parchment paper the hard way?
Flynn: Wait, what’s the difference?
Fletcher: One you can use in the oven safely, and the other you can also use in the oven… if the thing you are trying to make happens to be fire.
