The tales told of all manner of things seen out there, in the open ocean where no land was visible, and only the moon and stars to keep you company at night. They spoke of soft songs and sharp teeth, the flicker of large movement close to the surface of inky water - of chilling laughter, and men gone missing. There were dark things in the dark waters, the whispers said.
