Comfort Food

Summary:

Soul comforts heart with breakfast in bed.

Notes:

This is my first fanfic on Ao3. I have no idea how anything works.

Let's hope the curse doesn't get to me.

This is probably OOC but I don't care.

Work Text:

Rain. Pouring rain. Atlas knew what that meant. He walked to the kitchen to make breakfast. Pancakes? French toast sticks? Which one would he like? Oh! Eggs, toast, and bacon, the most average breakfast.

Atlas grabbed a pan, turned on the skillet, and cracked an egg. Scrambled, just how he liked it. The sound of sizzling and the rain outside was rather calming to the Earth. But never the less, he did have a job to do, one he will never pass up. Especially not now.

The muffled sounds of cries coming from the Moon's room, and the occasional clatter or crash of an object falling was another thing Atlas heard. It wasn't as pleasant as the rain. Even if it was the cause.

He had finished scrambling the eggs. As he put the bacon on the stove the cries of The Moon became weak, but the crashes got more frequent. Atlas was worried, even when his face said otherwise. He knew The Sun would come storming out yelling at Juno to quiet down, unless he did something about the wails.

Atlas stared at the clock while the bacon cooked, completely forgetting to toast the bread. He was so lost in his own thoughts that bacon got a little crispy at the edges. It almost burnt when he finally came to his senses.

"{Shit.}" Atlas said quietly. Not knowing why really, everyone was awake and it was 9:27 AM. Better than yelling he guessed.

The earth put the bread in the toaster, it was the only thing left to cook until he could dish up the plates and be on his way to the crying moon.

It popped out with a ding. Atlas grabbed the toast, putting it on the plates on the counter.

"{Eggs? Check. Bacon? Check. Toast? Check. Love? Check.}" Atlas checked off if he'd missed anything. Clearly nothing was missing so he put the plates on a tray and carried it to Juno's room.

The knock on the door startled the moon, it lunged at the door. Scratching it. Atlas took that as a sign to come in, even if it didn't seem that way. The frightened moon calmed at the sight of Atlas with the tray in two of his hands.

"{Hey there Moony.}" Atlas said lovingly extending a free hand down to Juno. The moon grabbed his hand immediately, but it didn't get up. "{Heard you crying, what's wrong?}"

The earth sat down on Juno's bean bag. The concern he had for his emotional half was immeasurable. The moon crawled into Atlas' lap. Weeping endless streams of tears.

Atlas ran his hand through The Moon's hair, picking out all the feathers in the process. It's room was a pigsty, a knocked down shelf, feathers all over the floor from running back and forth. Too much emotion all in one person, he has no idea how to deal with it other than to destroy anything in his vicinity.

"{It's okay.}" The earth said pulling the avian into a tight hug. The moon tried to speak, but it's voice was too raspy to even croak out a word.

Juno rapped his wings around the four armed being hugging him. "{You should have some food.}" Atlas said pulling away to grab the tray he had set down.

The moon's eyes glistened at the sight of breakfast. It immediately grabbed the plate that had his food. Munching up all the bacon in the blink of an eye. "{Would you like me to brew some tea?}" Juno wiggled his tail, happy to have tea.

Atlas got up to make tea for the two of them. Leaving The moon alone, in it's dark room. Left to think his negative thought.

He flapped over to its pull up bar, the one he never even used for pull ups. Instead he used it as something to hang on when it was bored. Its hands gripped the bar with intent to climb. Juno hung upside down on the bar waiting for Atlas to come back with warm tea. Oh he could practically taste the tea already.

The door opened, and The moon fell onto the floor with excitement. "{Woah there birdie!}" Atlas said placing the teas down, and walking over to the winged creature laying flat on it's face. "{Need a hand}" The Earth pulled Juno on to its feet.

"(Tea.)" Juno croaked out, his voice hoarse from the amount of tears he shed. Atlas grabbed a cup and handed it to The Moon. The tea was half empty by the time The earth got to take a sip of his. It burned Juno's mouth, but it didn't care, the tea tasted as if he was in heaven. "(Thank you.)" The moon smiled.

The breakfast and tea didn't take long for the two of them to destroy. By the time they were finished, Juno's voice was less raspy and he could actually talk for the most part.

"(You always seem to know how to cheer me up Atlas)" Juno looked at his hands and then to the earth. It slid over to Atlas' side. Looking him directly in the eye. Before landing a kiss on his lips.

Atlas' cheeks turned red immediately, but he eventually leaned into it.

When they finally stopped kissing, Atlas turned away covering his mouth. Juno had a wide smile, his purple lipstick blending with the red of Atlas'.

"{What was that!?}" Atlas laughed. Juno just pulled him into a tight hug.

It was no longer raining. Atlas knew what that meant.
