Work Text:
Lucky Lilac finds her way outside into the balcony. It was lonely and was a beautiful pristine night, the moon shone before her however, Lucky Lilac couldn't feel even lonelier and lost. She clutched the bouquet of flowers in her arms, the tears she held the entire time she watched the one she has loved, and has tried so hard to catch up to, to have the reciprocated love and genuine reciprocation she wants… but now turn into an inferno, the fire to carry on has become too painful.
Lucky Lilac looks up into the dark sky now. The masquerade continued on as if in her head could only curse at herself on why, asking reasons why she had let herself fall in love in the first place, with a star. Lilac is just a flower.. far away from the night sky and just in time to fade away, the time is ticking indeed, as the music keeps playing in the background only to turn into inaudible sensitive music to her ears in the turmoil she sinks herself into. All of it was a shadow kiss. Lucky Lilac was just kissing a shadow, not the real person she has fallen in love with….
It was all just solitary bloom. Lilac heart bloomed, but did Almond Eye? No. Lilac was just a rare case probably because the stars are not the sun, flowers don't bloom easily under the night sky however even so it may just be a curse. Lucky Lilac head shrouded in a mist of protest and questions. Her eyes begin to tear up behind the masquerade mask she has worn.
Out of frustration, she tossed her masquerade mask off, wiping her tears before letting the masquerade mask she had prepared neatly for this occasion get cracked on the ground. Finishing the job with one strong stomp. Snapping the mask in half. Lucky lilac let all her love out. She truly did, and now with it all exposed and has let herself be all so vulnerable to this concept. She feels wasted.
It was all so clear. Every moment she spent with the star she has adored for so long, where everyone was suspecting for each other to have the same feelings for each other but like glass, it is fragile, and clear, however not held by the other? It gets shattered. It cracks. Like ice trying to warm up to the ones they love but yet if not reciprocated the ice does not melt but cracks, painfully. Her heart ached, it was withering indeed.
She wasted half of her summer to make this her chance to balance her legacy and a potential relationship with Almond Eye. A beautiful dazzling star on the track as Lucky Lilac learns that she is just a flower. She does not shine like a star… or has the same reputation like the one Almond Eye has chosen instead. People would always choose the chocolate over the flowers… she should have known and have seen through his analogy. Lucky Lilac just simply, now aware that she will forever be empty now. The day she got those feelings were in the end just borrowed time.
Borrowed time before facing the cruel truth and the reshaping of her reality that has come to being the consequences of trying to love someone so dearly when it was never gonna be reciprocated, she compressed it, and then let it out on this day she planned, but yet now here she is, holding her own heart… when others are giving it to each other. Lucky Lilac heart is just like a true flower indeed, beautiful and natural, determined, however not always the first option and shall forever struggle to find their sun… to stay away from withering…
Everything came to a blur. Lucky Lilac does not understand it at all. She thought she had it, everyone thought she did, she really thought she had a chance, but yet now faced with such rejection, the one watering her is herself. With her own salty tears that sulk down her face. The flowers and plants outside the building… they seem so peaceful and so content in where they are but for Lucky Lilac. The emptiness, and the will to want to advance and keep running, however with this empty heart. She will be bound to end up stopping somewhere to fulfill those feelings…
She will never love indeed, nothing will ever make her bloom like how impossible it was for Almond eye, how opposite they were together. The days Lucky Lilac was dragged out on multiple occasions invited to play stupid games and do stjpid races and how Lucky Lilac showed those emotions, she blushed, she laughed like she has not done in days. The pressure she already had and the will to run for love now to only run for nothing to chase, she always knew in the racing industry she stood nothing close to Almond Eye. She was not as fast as her and she was not as flashy as her. She was just more responsible and wise and so.
However within she is struggling, those thoughts clog her head so easily thinking of ways how this could go so wrong and always in the state of confusion in such events that she never found necessary. But well time itself is unpredictable and fragile. Maybe in another universe. Almond Eye could have chosen the girl who tried so hard. And naturally let time do its thing to lead them somewhere in where they may hold hands without shame and run along each other more than just as rivals. But all of this, this is all. Broken. It is not possible anymore. Perhaps she would just go back questioning her own self worth.
She could have been a triple tiara winner like Almond Eye, she could have stood out more for her. But then things decided to take a different turn indeed. Perhaps she could have even become more flashier and popular than letting herself be an underdog. Or let herself be around flowers that she talks to and acts as if they understand her struggles in racing and how she would see herself now. Every star in the sky is like a gate to a new universe. Where if she were to be chosen, to not be a loser. Or some where it would be the same fate in not being the one.
The teasing, the flirting, the gifting to each other the way everyone truly saw how their dynamic could work into great compatibility and great chemistry love. But yet the Star has chosen the sun, the bright shining one like their own shine willing to reach it even when their territory is the night, unlike the out of reach flowers that only live for how long until they are neglected, seen more, but least cared. Most flowers don't live to their fullest or they live too long than usual. Oh what is she thinking?
Her love is exposed now. She released it all now. But what now? With such a heavy heart. Lucky Lilac brought the flowers close to her mouth… she will swallow her love back… chew, bite and swallow, make sure no trace remains anymore. She's stupid to think she truly ever had a chance indeed, to think her feelings would be reciprocated. She bit the petals off each of the flowers, chewed, and swallowed and continued, rinse and repeat.
She continued devouring the flowers, she coughed and choked but she did not care, she cannot let her love be exposed anymore, it was a mistake and a disgrace. Hard gulps every time she tried to swallow. She was mauling down onto the flowers she has prepared for this day but yet now has lost its purpose. She kept choking on each petal but that does not matter. She hated it.
She hated herself. She brought herself in shame, those who rooted for her and had helped her only wasted their time on something impossible and was bound to be rejected. There's no buts and ifs anymore. It's all so ridiculous and pathetic now. Some petals flew out of her mouth. She needed to keep swallowing.
She felt sick, she felt sick and mentally, she's sick in heart break and sick in choking herself in flowers. Her words were always so stern sometimes and gentle, making very lavishing and flowery speeches but now here she is swallowing her own words and plans she wanted to execute. To take Almond Eye's hand and dance with her, offer her the flowers and just… kiss her. Why can't she… accept it? Why are you just swallowing up your love?
Well simply, the night does not watch or take care of the flowers… It is usually a live or die situation after each night and this was one of them for Lucky Lilac. The moon does not hold the duty in taking care of the flowers and the stars are not forced either to spare their light on something so fragile. Beautiful but yet fragile. Stars however are beautiful and sturdy but wandering. Wandering somewhere far from the flowers reaches indeed.
Lucky Lilac is getting dizzy, she wants to vomit these petals out but refuses to, she will swallow and let the mess and rot of the petals make her feel the pain and consequences for thinking she had ever a single chance with a star. So far but yet too difficult to give up on. She thought this could work out easily. The bouquet of flowers now a mess as Lucky Lilac's face messed up and her mouth agaped with the petals lingering there.
Her breath smelled like flowers. But yet a hint of salt and sadness. Her vision got too blurry. She then got on her knees, and the bouquet fell. She reaches her hand out. To the night sky. To the stars…
“... Unfortunate me-” She choked on her breath, every word felt so painful, the petals felt like razor blades now, cutting her throat or poisoning her. “I will never bloom the same way- you did to me… Almond Eye-” She then fell fully on the ground coughing, she could barely breath. Her ears stayed folded and her tail lay paralyzed there.
And then, everything was black.
