It was a beautiful day in the city of Poppyton, and Dogday was very happy.
He was waiting at the train station with his other friends, and they were all excited, because today was the day the Smiling critters were finally going to be complete again.
But Dogday was the most excited of all.
Because he was going to be reunited with someone who he never thought he’d see in person again, after the company forced him to move away.
After all these years, his beloved was finally returning to him.
Bobby walks up to him, gently putting a hand on his shoulder.
“Are you excited?”
She asks.
Dogday nods. “Of course!”
He says. “I’ve been waiting to see Catnap again ever since he was forced away from us.”
He jumps up and down in place.
“I’ve missed him so much!”
Bobby nods. “I know, we’ve all missed him…”
She giggles. “But I can definitely tell nobody missed him more than you.”
Dogday smiles.
“Well, that’s because-”
Just then, the train pulled into the station, everyone covering their ears as it came to a screeching halt.
Once the train came to a complete stop, the doors opened, and only one critter came out, holding two suitcases.
And there he was.
In all his purple-furred, lavender scented, soothing, creepily smiling glory.
…
“CATNAP!”
The purple cat didn’t even have time to wave before he was tackled to the ground in a giant hug by a blur of orange fur.
Dogday didn’t even say anything, just kept hugging him super tightly.
Catnap of course hugs back just as tightly, wrapping his arms around the dog with a bright, joyful smile on his face.
“Hello Dogday!”
He says softly. “I’ve missed you so much!”
Dogday couldn’t even say anything through his happy tears, happily whining and his tail going so fast it almost lifted him off the ground like a helicopter.
Everyone else watched the happy scene, with smiles on their faces.
Once Dogday eventually pulls back, he gently helps Catnap off the ground.
“Sorry…”
He says. “I’ve missed you too, and I'm just so happy to see you!”
Catnap giggles. “I know.”
He then gently takes Dogday’s hands.
“And don’t worry… I've been waiting for this moment too~”
Dogday blushes. “W-what do you mean?”
Catnap leans in, nose to nose with his companion.
“You know exactly what I mean.”
He pulls Dogday in, kissing him softly yet passionately on the lips.
Dogday returns it, pulling Catnap in even closer.
Everyone else gasps.
“I KNEW IT!”
Bobby says, her eyes sparkling.
Catnap and Dogday pull away, saliva still connecting their lower lips and both their faces flushed red with embarrassment.
“Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys…”
Dogday says, gently taking Catnap’s hand.
“Catnap and I are dating now.”
The others laugh.
“Yeah, we could kinda tell from your lip-wrestling.”
Kickin comments.
The lovers blush in embarrassment, Catnap looking away.
Crafty then steps forward.
“I’m happy for you guys!”
She says. “And I'm happy to have you back, Catnap!”
Catnap smiles, going to give her a hug.
He follows with all of them, giving everyone a chance to be hugged and say hello, before they all head off to Dogday’s apartment for their “Welcome back Catnap!” Party.
~An hour or so later~
Everyone was having a good time.
They were dancing to the record player, eating tasty snacks(Mostly sushi, Picky had managed to make some sushi ‘Pillows’ by puffing up rice paper and filling with spicy tuna, and adding some chipotle mayo on the top), and talking with Catnap, asking him how his life had been for the past 5 or so years.
Catnap spent most of the party sitting on Dogday’s lap, as was expected of someone who hadn’t seen their love in so long.
“So Catnap…”
Bobby, why was sitting next to them, asked. “How’s life been for you?”
Catnap smiles.
‘A lot better now that I'm with all of you again…’ He says. ‘It was very sad and boring when I was all on my own…’
Bobby gently pets his shoulder.
“Well we’re glad to have you back.” She says. “We’ve all missed you so much.”
Catnap beams.
“I’ve missed you all too…”
He kisses Dogday on the cheek.
“But especially you, my angel.”
Dogday blushes. “Awww, Napster.”
Bobby giggles.
“You guys are adorable.”
Dogday giggles. “Well thanks, we try.”
Everyone laughs, enjoying the rest of the party.
~That night~
Dogday and Catnap were both lying in Dogday’s bed, which the sunny dog offered to let his sweetheart stay with him while his new apartment was being cleaned out so he could move in.
Dogday was gently petting Catnap, who was happily purring while lying on his chest.
“I really missed you, Moonlight.”
Dogday says softly. “My heart felt empty without you…”
Catnap nuzzles the underside of Dogday’s chin, still purring.
“I missed you too, my Sun.” He says. “Every day I had to live without you was a day I didn’t feel was worth living…”
Dogday holds him a bit tighter.
“Well don’t you worry, my angel.” He says. “Now that I have you back, I’m never letting you go again.”
Catnap sighs softly.
“Thank you…” He says. “I love you so much.”
He says before closing his eyes, falling asleep in his lover’s arms.
“I love you too.”
Dogday says as he smiles softly, kissing Catnap on the head, before he too falls asleep.
