Work Text:
It was a chill October evening, and Dogday was feeling excited.
He was about to ask his new boyfriend, Catnap, on a camping date, so they could finally have some time together, completely alone.
They had been dating for a few days, ever since Catnap had finally plucked up the courage to ask Dogday out, and they were both happy.
But they still hadn’t had their first kiss yet.
They’d attempted to at least 3 times now, but SOMETHING always got in the way.
Right after they’d confessed to each other under their favorite tree, they had tried to kiss, but right before they could, they were interrupted by Hoppy and Kickin wanting to play flashlight tag.
Then the next day, they were sitting on the couch together and tried again, but were interrupted by Bobby knocking on the door, and inviting them over to bake cookies.
Even at stardew point, where it would have been the PERFECT moment, they were interrupted by Dogday taking one step too far back, and almost falling off the cliff.
But THIS time, Dogday told himself, they were going to go camping deep within the gemberry woods, where NOBODY would find them, and they would NOT be interrupted.
He knocks on the door, his tail wagging.
A moment or so later, Catnap answers, smiling when he sees him.
‘Oh, hello my love.’ He says. ‘What brings you here?’
Dogday smiles back.
“Um… I was wondering…”
He gently takes Catnap’s hand, making him blush.
“If… if you wanted to go camping with me?”
He asks. “Just the two of us?”
Catnap nods. ‘Sure!’ He says.
‘It’s been a while since we had a one on one camping trip.’
Dogday hugs him. “Yay!”
He says, his tail wagging.
Catnap giggles, hugging back.
“When do you want to go?”
Dogday smiles. “Tonight maybe?” he says. “If you don’t have any other plans.”
Catnap nods. “Okay.” He says. “I just need to pack my things.”
Dogday’s tail wags. “Great!” He says.
“How about you pack your things, and meet me at the edge of the gemberry woods around sunset?”
Catnap smiles and nods again. “Sounds good.”
~Magically, it’s now around sunset~
Once Catnap had gathered up all his camping things, he was walking through Stardew park, looking at the sunset as he made his way to the woods.
It was beautiful, with the sky painted in different shades of pink, purple, and orange as the sun slowly sunk below the horizon.
“Catnap!”
The feline smiles as he hears his beloved call his name.
He spots him, smiling and waving happily.
Catnap walks over, waving back.
‘Hey sweetie.’ He signs. ‘You ready?’
Dogday nods. “Yeah, there’s a clearing not too far in from here.” He says, gently taking Catnap by the hand, starting to lead him off. “We’ll have total privacy.”
Catnap smiles. ‘Okay, lead the way babe.’ He says, following him.
Dogday leads him about a quarter mile into the woods, where they find a nice little clearing, then work together to set up the tent, getting frustrated, then laughing, when they get the poles wrong.
Once they’d finally got the tent set up, the sun was down and the stars were out. Catnap and Dogday rolled out their sleeping bags inside, sitting on them.
The tent had a mesh ceiling, so they could see the stars together.
‘So, what do you wanna do now?’
Catnap asks. ‘Stargaze? Sing campfire songs? Roast marshmallows?’
Dogday blushes, remembering his ulterior motive.
“Actually, Naps, there’s a specific reason I asked you to go camping with me…”
Catnap tilts his head. “Oh? What’s that?”
Dogday smiles, blushing as his tail wags, scooting a bit closer.
“Maybe we could actually kiss tonight, Nap.”
He says.
Catnap blushes.
“Really…?”
He says, his voice no higher than a whisper.
Dogday nods.
“There are no interruptions, no distractions, and no cliffs for me to stupidly almost fall off of...”
He says. “So, maybe we could finally take that next step?”
Catnap smiles brightly.
“Okay.” He says, scooting closer, so that his knee was touching Dogdays. “Let’s do it.”
Dogday’s tail wags, hugging him.
“Oh thank you, Naps!” He says. “I’ve been wanting to forever!”
Catnap hugs back, purring.
“I’ve been wanting to as well, baby.”
He pulls back, giggling.
“Now shut up and kiss me already.”
He says with a sultry look on his face.
Dogday blushes and giggles. “Okay sweetie, close your eyes.”
Catnap nods, doing so and leaning closer.
But then, Dogday gets nervous.
This was the moment he’d been preparing for for nearly a week, but now that it was actually time to do it, suddenly, he felt like he couldn’t…
He closes his eyes, shaking as he leans forward.
After a minute or so of nothing, Catnap opens his eyes, seeing a nervously shaking Dogday.
He sighs, taking Dogday’s face in his hands.
Dogday’s eyes shoot open as he finally feels Catnap’s lips on his, making a startled, “MPH-?!”
But after a moment or so, he melts into it, returning the kiss and wrapping his arms gently around Catnap’s waist, pulling him in ever so closer.
The moment was magical.
Catnap’s lips melded with his perfectly, hearing his soft breathing as they found a gentle rhythm, their lips connecting and re-connecting together, the soft squishing sounding like heaven in his ears.
Then, he feels Catnap’s spiky tongue on his lips, making a startled whine.
Catnap pulls back, looking worried.
“Sorry- was that too much?”
Dogday nervously giggles. “O-oh no, it was fine, I just wasn’t expecting it…”
Catnap smiles. “Then, can I keep going…?”
Dogday nods. “S-sure…”
He relaxes as Catnap softly kisses him again, trying not to flinch as Catnap gently licks his lips, slowly opening his mouth to let him in.
The kiss became more passionate as they slowly tongue wrestle, gently exploring the inside of each other's mouths.
Dogday loved the way Catnap would softly bite his lower lip, the way his spiky tongue would gently lick the roof of his own mouth, and the sweet taste of lavender that had him absolutely addicted every time it hit his taste buds.
Dogday ends up lying down on his sleeping bag, not breaking the kiss as Catnap lies down with him, the two cuddling softly as they continue to make out, expressing every bit of the pure and sweet love they felt for one another, without having to say a single word.
When they eventually pull back, they look deeply into each other's eyes, both of them filled with stars.
“Wow…”
Dogday says, mesmerized.
Catnap smiles. “Yeah, wow…”
He says softly.
Dogday hugs him softly.
“You’re… you’re amazing, Catnap…”
He says. “I don’t know how I got so lucky to end up with a guy like you…”
Catnap giggles. “Me either, sweetie… me either.”
Dogday smiles, kissing him on the cheek.
“I love you, moonbeam.”
Catnap purrs softly.
“I love you too, sunlight.”
Eventually, the two fell asleep, dreaming away in each other’s arms.
