"Iguro-san, thank you so much. I know this is a weird favour but the kakushi that usually cares for them while I'm gone is is sick and... sorry I'm rambling"
"Don't worry I can handle some cats for a day"
Her smile alone would be enough to light up his entire life and he would love being around to look at that smile everyday but not in this world filled with demons and disgrace. He would fight as hard as possible to rid the world and his blood of impurity.
"I’m sure you are extremely capable Iguro-san”
She saw him with such an adoring look that he felt light, lighter than ever, if that look was directed to him maybe he was worthy of her love.
The sun was starting to set, she would be leaving soon. He would cherish every second he got to be near her, admiring not only her beauty but also the infinitely charming personality that had enchanted him. Not only was she kind, she was compassionate, caring and overall the sweetest woman he had ever met.
"Just remember their food is in the pantry and the guest room is already ready for you. I hope they’ll stay calm but since I brought Dango they’ve been slight rowdier”
“I insist it'll be no trouble”
"Great, I should leave now"
"Alright remember to be carefull Miss kanroji"
Her cheeks redened slightly and she started playing with one of her braids.
"Have a good night, Iguro-son"
And with that she left for her patrol. He entered her house only to be received by one of Mitsuri's cats. Mochi had always been the most curious and he didn't mind meeting new people, it came closer to him and started rubbing its body against his legs.
"Yes Mochi it is always a pleasure to see you again"
He leaned down and started scratching behind Mochis ears, the cat started purring and this in turn attracted the attention of the other two cats.
While Mochi was a completely white cat the other two did have a little bit
more color. Dango had green eyes and the upper part of its body was a light brown, it was the newest cat Mitsuri had adopted so it was no surprise that it was hesitant to come close to him. On the other hand Seaweed basically ran towards him, this last cat was completely black.
After a few minutes of petting them started meowing which meant they wanted their dinner so he grabbed Mochi and walked towards the kitchen where their plates were already waiting to be filled up with the tuna Mitsuri had left for them.
It took the cats no time to finish their food and afterwards only Mochi stayed
with him in the kitchen while he ate the rice that Mitsuri, as sweet as always, had left for him.
He would never admit this to anyone, except maybe Sanemi, but this made him feel happy. Being taken into consideration like this, it was nice to know that someone cared about him enough to leave some food ready for him to eat, and the fact that it was Mitsuri made him even happier.
When he finished eating he washed the four plates and then he got ready for bed. Mochi and Seaweed climbed on the bed with him and while falling asleep he wondered if there would be a day where he would be able to share such a calm moment with Mitsuri.
At first she hadn't wanted to bother Obanai with such trivial matters but after Shinobu's reassurance she was certain that he would agree.
And he did.
Obanai had been very willing at that and had asked for nothing in exchange for his help. He was always such a gentleman that she wished to one day be able to marry him.
For now she should concentrate on what was within her control and finish the night alright, only then could she continue to daydream about the future.
Her patrol only included a few big towns so she spent the majority of the night killing demons in the forest, in the end it had been a productive night.
She started heading home just as the sun started rising. Mitsuri wanted to get home as fast as possible so her and Iguro could spend some time together away from their responsibilities.
By the time she arrived home the sun had just finished rising and so she decided to start breakfast as thanks for his help.
Usually she would have something simple and light for breakfast especially after running around all night but today was a special occasion so she decided to try her hand with one of the occidental recipes she had recently learnt.
Pancakes!!
She got all the ingredients out of the pantry and set to work mixing them together then she got one of her small pans ready buttering it lightly to avoid getting the pancake stuck.
Cooking them was trickier than expected but after the third one they came out perfect.
Lastly she plated them making sure to add some honey only on her plate as she wasn't sure if Iguro would like them that way.
Now the only thing left to do was fetching him.
But should she go or just wait for him? Her stomach decided for her with a light growl, so embarrassing.
She started walking towards the guest room and lightly knocked on the door, after some rustling she heard Kaburamaru hissing and for a second she feared the worst maybe one of her cats was after it so she opened the door enough to get a peek.
Kaburamaru was only watching her and before she could help it she got to see the sweetest thing in the world.
Obanai still sleeping on the futon surrounded by her cats, thankfully he was still wearing his mask so she hadn’t broken his trust but even then she could see his expression. He looked so calm and relaxed that she decided to close the door and wait for him to wake up on his own accord.
