"But you promised!"
Cassidy's joking facade crumples at the sound of Jett's yell: loud and furious, ringing across the room. Her excuses fail in the face of his molten rage, the blood on her hands unveiled to everyone present. She smiles bitterly, gripping the edge of her podium. Masking the fear that consumed her from the inside out.
In another world, the three of them would be playing the Sublime Slam Sisters Extreme game together, and Jett would have finally, finally, gathered the courage to unmask himself in front of another person. And she wouldn't look at him with the same disgust his family would, and through some miracle the three of them would emerge from this mess of a killing game unscathed.
That dream would never exist in reality. Mark's body grows cold on the laundry room floor. Cassidy's corpse is still fresh, brutally maimed and executed. And though his heart beats and his limbs still move, Jett's soul dies with them.
