"Stupid mutt!"
Lizzie and her husband, Joel, were walking down the streets of the Red Velvet Keep. They owned a small tavern back in Dogwarts, and they had a few things they had to run through and grab. They had just left the butcher shop when a pedestrian across the way nearly tripped over a small dog. Joel looked as if he was about to call out when the man shouted at and kicked the dog.
Lizzie nearly fell over as Joel bolted across the street, his large green butterfly wings hurtling him across the dirt road as he yelled at the man.
"What was that for?! Nothing should warrant hurting those poor animals, what if she had puppies, huh?! What if you just kicked a pregnant dog!?! Explain to me, what makes you think that's okay!?!"
As Joel yelled at the puppy kicker, Lizzie ran after the dog, who had fled behind the shops. She followed it to an old sewage pipe that had been long unused. The little dog, seemingly something made for the snow, was quaking in the pipe. Lizzie reached forward, her furred, paw-like hands gently pushing the dog forward into her lap. The dog tentatively settled in her lap, and Lizzie ran her claws through the dog's fur. She seemed to be a girl, and judging by her size, most likely a puppy. Joel was still yelling on the other side of the building.
"YOU ABSOLUTE MUPPET. YOU WASTE OF SPACE."
Lizzie glanced down at the dog, who had stopped her nervous quaking and settled farther into Lizzie's legs. She set her calico cat tail on the dog's back.
"He's loud, isn't he. Can you believe i married that? The amount of people he's yelled at in the tavern has basically shaped our business. Now, maybe we've found a mascot."
The puppy sat up, her breath warm on Lizzie's face as she lapped at Lizzie's cheek. She barked once.
"You're a merry little fellow, aren't you! Joel's gonna name you something silly like Jeremy if i give him the chance.. c'mon Meri."
Lizzie lifted the pup and waltzed up to Joel, who had run out of insults.
"Let's go home, we have a dog now."
After some very confused noises from Joel, he snapped his wings shut and followed his wife.
