Chapter Text

The dateviators were, generally speaking, a blessing in Hector’s life. For so long he watched you with no way to truly express himself, but now you could see him- or at least, the small part of himself he was willing to share. While he craved a real relationship with you, he knew deep inside that he would only be able to cling onto any semblance of a connection so long as he continued to live this lie. Were you to look too deeply inside him…

Watching you sleep with those damn glasses just a few inches away, carefully set on the nightstand, he always felt more lonely. Even if he called out to you now in full confidence love me, see me and love me still, you would be none the wiser than if he ignored you entirely. That inaccess drove him crazy at night. Your warmth, your assurance; it was something he needed desperately, yet there was nothing he could do without those frames.

He tried to replay back whatever conversation you had shared that day, long or brief, as a means of comfort. Even just remembering the way his name left your lips, or how well your shirt hugged your chest (he simply adored red on you) could get him through the dark hours most nights. It wasn’t always enough though.

When he wanted to be particularly vicious to himself, Hector imagined the other objects you talked to, just how much more you enjoyed their company. He treasured his time with you, of course, but he always wondered how long it would take for you to see his true nature and repel from him, conveniently landing in the arms of someone more suited for your beauty. What if he was too late?

Waiting can be a cruel thing.
