Chapter 1: Busy Work
Chapter Text
"I thought we were keeping our relationship a secret," Dolly said, not looking up from the papers she was grading.
"We are."
Dolly couldn't help but smirk at your tone, finally lifting her gaze from her work to you. You were sitting in the front row of her otherwise empty lecture hall. You blinked slowly, making sure she could easily read the "LOVE YOU" you wrote on your eyelids with liner in the bathroom on your way to visit her. She couldn't help but giggle when she saw it.
"You keep looking at me like that and the whole college will know about us by lunch."
"That would be terribly unprofessional," you laughed with her, changing your seat from a chair to her desk, "Which papers are these?"
"Archive Management."
"Oh yeah, like Ao3?"
Dolly arched a brow, pursing her lips, "You were funnier before we started dating."
"To lure you in~ It worked~"
"That's what I get for going out with an creative fiction professor."
"If I was writing this scene, you know what I'd do?"
"Have me unceremoniously toss my students' hard work onto the floor, tug you down by your tie, and start making out with you only for you to breathlessly beg me to make sure the door is locked followed by me promptly ignoring you so our tongues could fight for dominance?"
Your jaw dropped, "I'm that predictable?"
"Predictable ain't always boring," Dolly carefully set her papers to the side before propping herself up on the desk and taking you by the tie, "Come'ere~"
She pulled you in for a sweet kiss and you wasted no time throwing your arms around her. Smooching up a storm, you decided to press your luck, letting your hands wander down her soft arms and back.
"Watch the hands," she grumbled against your lips, "We're on the clock."
"Does that mean we're getting paid to kiss right now~ Ooh~ Maybe we should start teaching economics~"
"With a practical test, I think it should be health class~"
"Now we're role playing. Theater class?"
Dolly laughed a little, finally pulling away, "Okay, back to work."
"But- But-"
"I'll kick your butt if you keep distracting me," she grinned, returning down to her chair, "We can pick this up again at my place later."
"I can come over!?"
"If you behave until I finish grading."
"Awesome! I'll go do my work then too!"
"You have work!?" She swatted you with her papers, "I'd hate to be one of your students."
"Whereas I'd love to be one of yours~"
"No you wouldn't. I don't kiss my students."
You fell back into your seat and took out your laptop to work, "Hey teach?"
Dolly looked up one final time and you slowly blinked at her again, revealing a slightly smudged LOVE YOU. She laughed and you were appeased.
Chapter 2: Bunny
Chapter Text
Dolly's place was always such a treat to visit but you didn't get to visit as often as you liked. Whenever she'd travel overseas to go on a dig, she'd always come back with something to further investigate… Which was also why you didn't have a key. She loved you, but if you breathed on some of these artifacts wrong they'd fall apart.
For once, her place was open for business, which meant you got to do one of your favorite things: help her clean. Sweeping up the last of the dirt, she set you down on her plush couch.
"Thanks for all your help, sugar," she said, "Let's order some takeout to celebrate. Want a drink?"
"Yeah! A drink sounds good."
You say kind of awkwardly, peeking around at all the books and papers littered everywhere. Picking one of the books up and flipping through, you saw it was annotated and high lighted to hell. The AC kicked on and you got a little cold.
"You want a sweater?" She asked, putting a glass of your usual in your hand.
"If it's not too much trouble."
Why were you feeling so awkward? You had Dolly had been dating for a while now and it wasn't like this was your first time at her place. Be cool… Be smooth… She's so pretty. Ugh. What the heck were you supposed to do when a girl that pretty invited you over to her place!?
"Ah! Haha! No way!" You heard her exclaim from her closet in the next room.
"What is it?" You called back, taking a sip from your glass.
She walked out holding a bunny girl outfit up to herself, "Look what I found!"
You nearly spit your drink everywhere. Blushing profusely, you stammered through your next sentence.
"W-Why do you have that!?"
She laughed, tossing you a hoodie, "Back when I was getting my masters' I worked at a Bunny Girl Cafe to pay for my tuition. I thought I'd hate it, but the outfit grew on me I guess. Helps that the tips were so good."
"D-Do you think it still fits?" You hoped she didn't notice the drool pooling in your lap.
She just gave you a teasing smirk, "You wanna see me in this?"
"Uh yeah. For science." You were not selling it bro.
She just laughed, "For science? Ha! I doubt it'll still fit but why not. Be right back."
She went back into the side room to change and you sat sit, the hoodie off to your side. You weren't even remotely cold anymore. Taking another sip of your drink, you waited in silence. That was when you noticed what you thought was a stuffed animal move.
"ET?"
It hopped.
"Not ET! Ah!"
"That's just Lint!" Dolly called from the next room, "He don't bite for the most part!"
"For the most part," you mumbled, leaning over to get a better look at the creature, "Hey Lint."
Lint was probably the fluffiest rabbit you'd ever seen with the meanest mug. Come to think of it, you remembered her mentioning she had a pet before. She must have put him away during your last visit. Carefully, you stuck your hand out so he could smell you. When his little nose twitched, he was actually kinda cute. Then he nearly nipped you and you returned to your original position.
"Note to self, bring bribes for the bunny…"
Taking another sip of your drink, you finally started to calm down. Then her bedroom door opened again and your heart nearly punched its way out of your chest.
"I'm surprised it still fits," Dolly said, posing in the doorway, "What do you think?"
"Hummanuh hummanuh hummanuh hummanuh."
"Use your words, honey."
A bunny girl. Not just any bunny girl. Dolly, your girlfriend, was dressed up as a bunny girl. You didn't even know you really had a thing for bunnies until that moment. The most beautiful girl in the world was gracing you. You weren't sure if you should start praying or not. A single tear of gratitude fell.
She just laughed again, "You're so dramatic. It's just a costume."
The door bell rang and Dolly answered it absentmindedly. The guy with your food just stared like an idiot (same) and handed her the takeout bags. She thanked him, arching a brow as she closed the door.
"People just don't have manners these days. Goodness. He didn't say a word to me, can you believe that," she huffed, setting the food down.
You gave her a look, reminding her of what she was wearing. And then she was doubling over.
"Oh my gosh! I can't believe how fast I forgot I was wearing this silly thing! No wonder! Haha!"
You made another note to yourself, don't let anyone else see her in that getup. She was just too powerful. A war would probably break out over her.
