Work Text:

Percy walked in to the swanky jazz bar, eyes darting around the smoky room. All the walks of life from low-level goons to the mob bosses themselves filled this bar. It almost seemed as if everyone was holding their breath as he stepped in, gauging to see who employed him or if he was a rat against someone else.

Neither.

The young detective had seen his fair share of disheartening violence working as an investigator. He was…unknowingly the middleman to many feuds being settled or the police rooting out those who snitched on each other. It left him jaded, compartmentalizing the world to his own personal code as he navigated just to get to another day.

This recent case had a newfound “heiress”, though she made her fortune in stealing goods the rich wouldn’t notice, barging through his office door in search of her lost twin. Even of all the clients who had walked in through his door, he was still baffled how this one left a more lasting impression on him.

As soon as he mad his way to the bar, he saw her sitting there as she entertained a dirty martini. A blue dress with a cut on the side for a leg, with beads for sleeves that hung lowly off her arms and shoulders. Her eyes darted to the right side where he sat as she knowingly smiled past her glass.

It was in that moment, Percy realized why he was drawn to the fiery Vex. She kept him on his toes, and whether they would make it out of this case alive or dead, Percy knew he wanted to see her again.

Extending an arm for him to take it, Vex’ahlia set in motion her plan to seek information. Come hell or high water, she would leave here with her family intact.

“Shall we, Detective de Rolo?”
