It was one of those weird nights where he couldn’t sleep. He kept turning and turning around, trying to find a comfortable position. But he just couldn’t.
Resigned, he took a deep breath and looked at his partner, who seemed quite peaceful, until Atsumu opened one of his eyes, and Shouyou almost jumped out of the bed.
“What’s going on, Shouyou-kun?”
Shouyou looked for an excuse, but Atsumu had already woken up, and there was no point in lying.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to…” He let a nervous laughter out, and shook his head. “It doesn’t matter.”
Atsumu got out of the bed, and then looked at his partner. “Let’s go to the balcony.”
A bright night. Shouyou felt protected, as he was surrounded by Atsumu’s arms. So warm, so comfortable, so perfect.
“Better? Wanna talk about it?”
“I’m leaving in a couple of days, again.” Shouyou announced. He loved doing what he did, that wasn’t the issue.
“I know.” Atsumu kissed him on the neck.
“I’m going to miss you, Atsumu-san. Our home, our city… Us.” Shouyou turned around to look at his partner, as if he was trying to memorize everything about himself.
“You know I’m gonna visit ya.” He played with a lose hair on Shouyou’s face. “And yer gonna come back in no time as well.”
Shouyou nodded, as he let Atsumu carefully touch him.
“We’ll survive this, like we always did,” Atsumu said, before placing a kiss on Shouyou’s forehead.
“You promise?” Shouyou rested both of his hands on Atsumu’s chest.
“I do, I promise,” Atsumu whispered.
Funny how so few words could make him feel better, Shouyou thought. Just two words, and they were enough for him.
He hugged his partner as tight. So cozy, comfortable and warm. His favorite place in the world.
