Chapter Text

Cold, splintered wood stood in front of him, cracked and peeled with off-color sealed paint that coated the edges into a horrendous, cup-like shape. It wasn't a sight he enjoyed, which was why normally he got Err to bust in through the window for him. But he didn't have Err right now.

No, according to Err, Err had.. 'much better things to do than deal with his messy relationship shit.' Eloquently put, of course..

But nevermind that.

Ignignokt had been endlessly knocking for what felt like hours. He would have just broken in.. well, he should have. But he didn't want to risk making the volatile human he came to see more on edge than necessary.

".. Anemone? Won't you open the door? .. It's rather cold out. You will open the door, as I, your Moon Master command and–.. Oh, hey."

Anemone looked down at him, crossing his arms in an attempt to look rebellious. It was a good effort, but it wasn't working.

"The fuck do you want."

"Rude. Well, I would say I came here to apologize.. but.. that would be a lie."

Anemone sighed, the natural stiffness of his shoulder blades relaxing. The curly-haired human in front of him stepped back out of the doorway, shuffling his feet on the fuzzy, green carpet.

"..Is that supposed to make me feel better?"

"Hm.. uh.. No. Well, yes. I haven't decided yet."

"..You lie to everybody. You couldn't even pretend to me for just a second that you were sorry?"

".. I never said I wasn't.. wasn't sorry.. and would you have believed me anyway?"

Silence suddenly enveloped the space between them, aside from the sound of Anemone's breathing and his feet still shuffling. It took Ignignokt a bit to realize he was trying to invite him inside without saying anything.

Anemone didn't fuss when Ignignokt didn't move forward to take him up on his offer. Though Ignignokt could see how his eyes were twitching slightly, taking over him with an array of emotions.

"..I would never lie to you, sweetheart."

"Oh, please–"

"I'm serious. I couldn't lie to you. Not right now. I.. respect you too much."

It sounded like a lie. But, it wasn't. Not really. It was the closest thing to the truth he could admit at the moment. Even if he was sure Anemone could see right through his words, he didn't miss how the human's eyes softened. He knew they would. Anemone was a sap.

".. Really, huh. I don't believe that."

".. Won't you at least let me prove it to you?"

Anemone hesitated, his soft cheeks filling with color. ".. Prove to me how?"

Ignignokt stepped closer, little 'blip' noises forming when his pixels hit the ground. Anemone tensed, but he didn't step back, didn't react when Ignignokt's pixels caressed his arm, didn't resist when he was gently brought to lean down.

It was times like this Ignignokt wished he was taller, or at least able to bend his head back. His superior, 2D, flat surface of a body wasn't easy for the human's lips to attach to. But Anemone's lips were soft.. and warm, and left a little fuzzy, glitchy feeling in the hard, green, digital silicone of his body.

Anemone did eventually pull away, he always was the first one to.. and for a brief moment, the shimmering moonlight of the bright sky shone through his curls, the light freckles on his cheeks shining like specks of glitter.

"..Are you still angry at me, darling?"

"Piss off."
