For a Celestial wizard to lose their companion that shares a part of their magic.
It's worse than death.
It's agonizing.
They feel it. The bond breaking into shears like a shattered mirror.
And it can never by recover.
They're alive but their soul is gone. Nothing of the world can release them from the numbness of pain.
So they fake it. Faking the actions of normal while begging and dreaming to join their companions in the River of Stars in the Celestial world. They want them back to their side and will do anything to get them back no matter what. Including walking with Death and away from Mother Nature's hand.
The eldest Heartfilia daughter. Lucilian Heartfilia, the next guardian to the Eclipse Gate. Heiress to the Heartfilia dukedom.
She lost her companion, her friend at the young age of 10. Three years after the birth of her younger sister, Sylvanna Heartfilia. Two year after the passing of their mother, Duchess Layla of Heartfilia. Two years after their father closed his heart to his daughters and mainly focused on his job as Duke of Heartfilia.
The Heartfilia family is said to come from the stars themselves. So, their bond between them and their companions is powerful and for a Heartfilia to lose them. That's a pain worse than the betrayal of the one that caused the death of the companions.
All that remains for the eldest daughter is the love of her younger sister, the staff, and her spirits that she treasures yet she wonders to the night sky hoping to see her companion one last time. For one last hug.
