Work Text:

The red was coming toward her. They had her. They-

She awoke very warm and cold at the same time despite it being 59°F (15°C) outside and her car wasn't running.

"God, cold and hot at the same time? Give me a break."

She heard a voice, it was very quiet, and she couldn't make out what it said, but it felt like something was watching her. She looked around. Her car was surrounded by pitch black. You couldn't see out of the windows.

"What the hell?"

She took off her noise cancelling headphones, and peered out the window. She crawled over the front seats to get into the driver's, she WAS going to get the hell out of here.

She attempted to start the car, nothing happened, no sound, nothing, it was as if it was outer space.

She heard a gnawing on her window, and whipped her head around while panting, a light. A white light.

She could hear her heart beating, and her worried breathing.

She rolled down the window weakly and slowly, as she had just woken up.

"Anyone out there?"

The white light brightened for a few moments upon hearing her voice.

"Fuck it. Natalie, Emily, 'Cuda, love you."

She kissed her pointer and middle finger, and brought it down on the dash of the Barracuda, it might be the last time she sees it.

She rolled up her windows, unlocked her door, took the keys out, and opened the door. She set one foot down, the ground was soft and made a crunching noise.

As soon as she stepped out, she felt even weaker then before, and it felt like she was being stabbed in a million places.

"Fuck."

She stopped in her tracks. Her life flashed before her eyes, especially the people who were her friends that weren't murderers. Manny, George, Luca, Alex.

She trembled, before continuing on.

She felt like she was going to throw up, but went on. The closer she got to the light the closer she was to falling over.

She made it. But was it worth it?

Red, white, and blue.
