Star Jaeger’s head cocked to the side, eyes sharpening. As if she was aiming down her sights and Clara was the target. “Well, we certainly wouldn’t want Sieben to find out and punish us.” She swung her leg off the railing and gracefully strode forward.
“N-not that I would tell her!” Clara hid behind her clipboard. “Storch Sieben won’t even know that I saw you out here. I promise.”
Black-gloved fingertips tipped her chin up, craning her neck until she had no choice but to meet Star Jaeger’s eyes. “We know you won’t tattle on us, little Clara,” she teased, “but it never hurts to have a little insurance.”
