Work Text:
The crowd was too loud, too hyped, as alcohol, drugs, and sex turned otherwise ordinary humans into animals. Sweat and other fluids clung to the half-naked people rubbing their bodies together on the dancefloor and in dimly lit corners alike.
It was utterly disgusting.
Tobirama had always hated clubbing. Mostly because it was a socially acceptable place to get wasted, and the only thing he disliked more than people socialising in big numbers was alcohol in huge quantities and how it changed people who drank beyond their limit.
His childhood had gone to hell the moment his father had found solace in a bottle after his two youngest sons died alongside their mother, and while Tobirama had cut these ties easily enough as soon as he became old enough to leave, he refused to simply watch as the same vice that had ruined Butsuma slowly killed Hashirama, too, even if it let his brother keep a smile while wasting away.
Mito had been a true godsend in this regard, taking over the duty of keeping Hashirama dry without a fuss and with great success. But of course, as soon as his wife needed to leave town for a work trip, Hashirama found the next best barrel to drown his perceived loneliness and common sense both.
As Tobirama slowly made his way through his brother’s favourite joint, he eventually caught a glance of Hashirama at a table in the back, talking animatedly with a man.
Tobirama cocked his head, taking in the sight with a bit of surprise. Usually, his brother would be surrounded by a whole gaggle of people, drawing them in like a moth to the flame as he tried to fill the void in his chest with meaningless connections. As he watched, though, Tobirama could see how easily both of them seemed to seamlessly click together, keeping the masses at a distance via their obvious bond built from alcohol and gestures as wild as their smiles, as they talked to each other at a rapid pace.
From the way their bodies were turned into each other, swaying with each other, Tobirama would be worried about his brother's marriage, but no matter how much he drank, Hashirama would never be anything short of utterly besotted with his wife, devoted to the very end, no matter which temptation called.
And that his brother's new friend would be a temptation if Hashirama were anything less than straight as an arrow was without question. As far as Tobirama could tell from a first glance, the only thing off-putting about the man was the bright sheen to his eyes that spoke of too much alcohol.
"Say goodbye, Anija, you're going home."
Rather than worrying about Hashirama's virtue, Tobirama should have worried about his own. As soon as he made himself known, dark eyes landed on him, almost freighting in their sudden intensity as they flicked up and down on Tobirama's body, a seductive smirk slowly unfolding on full lips.
"I fear I can't let you have Hashirama here without a toll. I should be compensated for keeping this big oaf out of trouble, no?"
"A toll?" Tobirama didn't roll his eyes, but it was a near thing. It would be difficult to properly articulate just how unimpressed he was, but here he was, letting himself be drawn into an argument with a drunken idiot. At least the man didn't slur his words.
"Your number would do," Hashirama's new friend drawled. While he was handsome enough, Tobirama knew better than to give his number out to some drunk idiot at a bar. His reluctance must've been obvious, because dark eyes moved from his eyes to his lips as the man shrugged. "No? Well then, a drink should suffice. You'll have to make do, though, since we just happen to be out of lemon."
The man slid the last slice of lemon between his teeth, smirking around it with impish glee and a far too pleased air. It was obvious that there was no malicious intent behind the action, that it was harmless flirting and little else. Still, the natural arrogance pouring off the man would be utterly aggravating if it weren't for his dimples turning the smug expression on his handsome face into something almost endearing.
Tobirama wanted to kick himself for the thought alone. It seemed the alcohol fumes were getting to him already.
He considered his options. If he let himself get drawn into an argument, he wouldn't get his brother out of here without causing a scene—if he’d get him out at all. Considering the literal sparkles in Hashirama's eyes, the way he'd clasped his hands under his chin and watched them both with excited anticipation, it was clear that his brother wouldn't be moved from the table without witnessing some sort of pseudo-positive interaction between the two of them.
Tobirama might be stronger than he looked, but Hashirama was built like a mountain—if his brother didn't want to be moved, he wouldn't be moved.
So, interaction with the mystery man. Giving his number was out of the question; he didn't fancy changing it like he had been forced to do the last time his brother tried to matchmake and literally plastered the whole town with flyers containing nothing but Tobirama’s name, phone number and a half-dressed body shot. Tobirama still didn't know how or when the picture had been taken in the first place, but at least his face had been cropped out.
Since his number was out, a drink it was, huh?
While Tobirama usually didn't let himself be pressured into drinking, right now, it was the way of least resistance to get his brother back home before he became completely plastered. And it wasn't as if Tobirama had to play by any rules but his own, no?
Decision made, Tobirama reached out for a full shot on the table without breaking eye contact. While the man's expression didn't change, his pupils blew wide when realisation set it—despite the circumstances, it would be a lie to say the evidence of desire didn't send a thrill down Tobirama's spine.
Yeah, he was going to have fun with this. After all, the other really brought it on himself.
Like a dare, he kept their eyes locked even when he threw back his head and emptied the shot into his mouth. It took the attention away from the fact that he spat the horrendously tasting liquid back into the glass right before he slammed it onto the table, hiding his deception among the multiple glasses there, both empty and full.
Then, ever so slowly, Tobirama leaned in as if for a kiss.
He still kept their eyes locked, kept the air between them charged and intimate when he slid a hand into black hair and angled the shorter man's head back as Tobirama towered over him with his full height. Long lashes fluttered as the man tried to keep his eyes open.
When he finally failed, Tobirama made his move: rather than diving in for a kiss, he ducked under the man's chin and licked a broad stripe from the hollow between his collar bones up over his bobbing throat.
The salt of fresh sweat went well with the taste of alcohol on his tongue, making it more tolerable. The only thing missing-
Tobirama ignored the lemon slice for a moment as he drank the startled moan right from chapped lips. He pressed closer, properly slotting their lips together as he sucked on the lemon, let the flavour blossom on his tongue and chase away the last hint of tequila.
There was something sweeter to be had, though.
He licked into the other's mouth, burrowing a second hand into his wild hair to keep his head in place, keep him up despite the obvious weak knees as he devoured him whole, unmade him with nothing but a kiss, heated as it might be.
When Tobirama eventually drew back, the man staggered against the table, holding on for dear life after Tobirama took the lemon slice with him, sucking on it to chase away a taste far more addictive than alcohol could ever be. He spat the slice into an empty shot glass and wiped his lips, hiding a smirk at the other man's dazed expression.
"The toll is paid, I believe. Anija, we're going."
He didn't let either of them get another word in—both thankfully too dazed by what just happened—as he dragged Hashirama away and out into the open, heading for his car.
Before the door closed behind him, Tobirama looked back one last time, catching the man's eye through the dancing crowd.
On a whim, Tobirama winked and enjoyed the view of a full flush turning the other's face an unflattering red. It was a far cry from the previous suave arrogance and a much better look on the attractive man.
Who knew? Maybe tomorrow, Tobirama would allow Hashirama to give his number away one last time.
