Chapter 1: :3

Chapter Text

Blueberry Milk was wandering around the forest area of Beast-Yeast that was located a bit further from the outskirts of the humble Yogurt Village. With notepad and pen in hand, he was having a fun time examining random plants and creatures that he came across, and crunching a few of the newly fallen leaves as he went.

Then, while in the middle of jotting down anything he deemed as noteworthy he noticed a beautiful tree from the corner of his eye.
He stopped to observe the tree that suddenly had all of his attention.
The tree was lengthy in size towering over blueberry milk, it was a captivating silver white bark tree, with healthy emerald green leaves the other trees seemed unworthy of blue’s notes. Blueberry Milk was fascinated by this unique tree, he almost wasn't aware of the person that was approaching him.
Blueberry turned around to see who was approaching and was met with the face of a cookie who had shoulder length blond hair.

The cookie had blue and yellow eyes similar to Blueberry himself, and was dressed in a regal navy blue blouse with a black corset, he had a black shawl with gold accents around the edges, and a long black cape with a glint of gold beneath it. He had black pointed fingerless gloves that looked to be slightly opaque, with golden vine-like embroidery. He was also holding a large staff with him.
They both stared blankly at one another in awkward silence for what felt like an hour, before Blueberry Milk decided to break the silence. "Hi! I didn't necessarily expect to see any other cookies out here, but I'm Blueberry Milk cookie!" Blueberry Milk said cheerily "What's your name stranger?" After a few more beats of awkward silence the other cookie says "I'm Pure Vanilla cookie." He says monotonously. "It's nice to meet you Pure Vanilla!!"

Blueberry turned his attention back to the tree that he had originally stopped to look at, and started writing in his notes again. “What are you writing?” Pure Vanilla's voice came from behind him. “Oh! Well, this tree has perfectly green leaves despite it being autumn, but it doesn’t look like the typical ever green tree!” He started, “So I’m trying to find out why!”
Pure Vanilla tilts his head slightly at Blueberry Milk and questions “Well, what do you think is different?” Blueberry begins to yammer on about the differences they notice between the silver tree in front of them, and the other surrounding trees. Pure Vanilla would hum in response every so often to show he was indeed listening. They ended up talking for what felt like only a couple minutes, but turned out to be a few hours. Blueberry Milk had somehow ended up talking about different foods and what times they are best to be eaten.

“Oh! It seems I’ve gone off on a bit of a tangent- Sorry about that my friend!” Blueberry Milk said apologetically while nervously fidgeting with the hem of his sleeve. “It's fine, don’t worry about it, I didn’t mind that much.” Pure Vanilla replies nonchalantly. “I do believe it might be time for me to take my leave however, Until we meet again my friend!” Blueberry Milk says enthusiastically. “Yeah, see you.” Pure Vanilla says quietly.

----------------------------------

Blueberry Milk returned to his home in the Yogurt Village later that evening. He was grading some papers that his students handed in the other day, and his mind began wandering to the cookie he met earlier today. “I wonder if they will be there tomorrow?” Blueberry Milk thought to himself as he fidgeted with the hem of his sleeve again. Blueberry Milk decided to go to the same place around the same time tomorrow, because their conversation earlier was pretty fun!
Blueberry turned his attention back to the papers he was supposed to be grading, they were pretty good! Some spelling mistakes here and there, but overall most of them were getting the point across!

---------------------

The next day Blueberry Milk was wandering through the forest again, he was looking out for the silver tree he saw yesterday, and also keeping an eye out for any cookies as well. Once he found the tree, Blueberry looked around again just in case the cookie he’d met yesterday happened to be there, but when he didn’t notice anything Blueberry Milk decided to plop down on the grass and let his mind wander for a bit.

Blueberry Milk ended up daydreaming a solitaire game in his mind, and he was about to win when he was suddenly brought back to reality by a familiar voice “Uhm, may I sit here?” the voice said. Blueberry milk looked up and saw Pure Vanilla standing slightly to his right.

“Oh! Sorry, I didn’t see you over there friend!” Blueberry Milk apologized “But yes! Feel free to sit!” Pure Vanilla moved closer and sat down next to Blueberry Milk. “Sooooooo, How's your day been?” Blueberry asked, leaning forward slightly, “It was fine.” He said flatly, “...What about you?”
“Well lets see, today I was teaching my students about some of the wildlife located around beast-yeast..” Blueberry said as he looked up slightly, “Your students?” Pure Vanilla questions as he looks over towards Blueberry, “You’re a teacher?”

“Oh, yeah! I suppose I didn’t mention it during my tangent the other day did I” Blueberry said as he fidgeted with the hem of his sleeve
“But I am a teacher at the Blueberry Yogurt Academy in the Yogurt Village! It truly is a lovely little academy.”
“I see. It sounds nice.” Pure Vanilla replied
“It really is! There are these two students who are exceptionally rowdy when they are around each other, but they are really sweet!”
“Candy Apple and her older brother Black Sapphire always get their work turned in, but they tend to make it a competition sometimes”
Blueberry Milk says as he brings a hand up to his mouth trying to stifle a laugh

Pure Vanilla listened and nodded quietly as he listened to Blueberry Milk speak about his time at the academy and his students, as well as his many topics of interest.
Just like the day prior, the topic of this conversation had somehow derailed into some other thing that Blueberry Milk was seemingly very interested in.
Pure Vanilla would add some of his own thoughts and opinions on a few of these topics as they came and went.
“Oh my! Time sure flies!” Blueberry Milk said as he turned his attention to the now darkening sky above the two of them.
“Indeed.” Pure Vanilla nodded

They spoke their goodbyes and left today’s conversation at the tree. As they returned to their respective homes. They thought, and hoped, the other would be there, at that spot, under that tree, the next time they wandered to it.

Chapter Text

Pure Vanilla was making his bed one morning, he liked his room to be in a specific way, so he typically doesn't make the castle helpers do it for him. He also tends to like busy work.

It had been two weeks since he had begun his and Blueberry Milk's daily meetings under that random tree. Pure Vanilla found it a little amusing how interested Blueberry was in this tree. He knows they probably aren't as common around the Yogurt Village where Blueberry Milk lives, but they are relatively common in Faeriewood.

As Pure Vanilla moved towards his door to leave, he stopped to grab a satchel off of his desk.

---------------

Blueberry Milk was seated at the base of the tree where he and Pure Vanilla met up everyday.

It was a nice little schedule they had somehow gotten into the rhythm of. Every day at around 3pm they would meet here at this tree, talk for a few hours about their day, about the weather, about solitaire, about anything really. Then they would go their separate ways back to their homes.

Blueberry was doing what he usually did when he got here, and Pure Vanilla hadn't arrived yet, playing an imaginary game of solitaire in his head.

In the midst of this imaginary game, a familiar voice made itself known. "Are you winning?"

Blueberry turned to look up at his friend as he sat down next to him, he seemed to have a light brown satchel with floral and vinelike white embroidery decorating the front, hung around one shoulder. "Oh! Hi Pure Vanilla! And yes, I was in fact winning, thanks for asking!" Blueberry proudly stated as he crossed his arms.

“Well that’s good” Pure Vanilla replied, resting his staff on the tree, and then taking the satchel off of his shoulder and setting it down in his lap. “Whatcha got there?” Blueberry Milk asked looking from the satchel to Pure Vanilla curiously. Pure Vanilla looked down at the satchel in his lap, and unclasped the flower button and pulled out a book. It was a hard cover book that was a nice shade of sage green.

Pure Vanilla quietly passed the book over to Blueberry milk and let him inspect the book more closely. Blueberry opened the book curiously and found that its contents contained information and fun facts on the flora and fauna of a place called ‘Faeriewood’. “I found this book the other day, and I remembered how interested you were about the type of this tree when we first met.” Pure Vanilla motioned towards the tree behind them “So, I thought you might’ve wanted to have it.” He said nonchalantly, shrugging a little.

“Oh! Thank you so much Pure Vanilla!” Blueberry Milk smiled, “Yeah, don’t mention it.” he mumbled. Blueberry Milk flipped through the pages for a few minutes before a question popped up into his head, ‘What was Faeriewood?’ Blueberry Milk turned to face Pure Vanilla again who was looking down at the book squinting a little bit.

“Hey, I have a question” Blueberry Milk asked as Pure Vanilla looked up from the book to face him, he hummed in response signaling Blueberry Milk to ask away. “Where’s ‘Faeriewood’?” Blueberry Milk tilted his head slightly as he asked the question, “The reason I ask is because the book you gave me has facts about the greenery of this place called Faeriewood, but I don’t currently know of a place called Faeriewood.” Blueberry Milk specified as he fidgeted with the hem of his sleeve again. Pure Vanilla seemed quiet as he thought for a moment, that made Blueberry Milk feel slightly nervous for some reason, before Pure Vanilla finally spoke. “It’s where I live.” he said simply.

“Oh! That's nice!” Blueberry smiled, feeling that random spike of nervousness leave. “These past couple of weeks you’ve been speaking a lot about your village.” Pure Vanilla started “So I suppose it would only be fair if I shared some things about my home as well” He said as he shrugged slightly.

“What's it like in Faeriewood? Is it big? Ooo! Are there actual fairy cookies that live there?” Blueberry Milk started listing off questions, excited to learn more about his friend. Shocked, Pure Vanilla held up one hand, “Woah, calm down please. One question at a time.” He said trying to hide the slight amusement on his face. “Ah! Right- sorry about that-” Blueberry Milk apologized, once again starting to fidget with his sleeve. “ehem, so- first question, Do faerie cookies live in Faeriewood?” He asked, tilting his head to the side slightly. Pure Vanilla was quiet for another moment. “No, there’s elephants.” He said with a deadpan stare.

“Okay- is that a yes?” Blueberry Milk said, trying not to laugh at the statement. “Yes, faeries live in Faeriewood.” Pure Vanilla replied looking at the other cookie. Blueberry Milk looked towards the afternoon sky as he thought for a moment. “Are you a faerie cookie?” He asked looking back towards Pure Vanilla.

“Yes.” He said flatly.

They stared at each other for a couple moments before Blueberry Milk broke the silence once more. “If it's okay for me to ask, where are your wings?” He asked, before worrying if that’s not an okay question to ask “If you don’t want to tell me that's completely fine! I was just wondering since you’re a faerie and lik-"
"They’re beneath my cloak.” Pure Vanilla answers, stopping Blueberry Milk’s panicked rambling.

Pure Vanilla’s cloak moved ever so slightly, signaling that there was indeed a pair of wings underneath it. “Woah!! That's so cool!” Blueberry Milk smiles. Pure Vanilla looked away slightly before asking, “uhm, Any other questions?”
--------------------------
Blueberry Milk and Pure Vanilla continued talking back and forth like they usually did. Blueberry Milk asked questions about how life in Faeriewood was, to which Pure Vanilla would give straight forward and oftentimes short answers, before the conversation had eventually gotten off of the questions and derailed into the usual random Blueberry Milk topics that he often did when they spoke.

It was getting late, and Pure Vanilla got up and grabbed his staff and hung his satchel back over his shoulder, Blueberry Milk was getting up as well before he suddenly had a random thought.

“Hey Pure Vanilla?” Blueberry Milk said while holding the book that Pure Vanilla had gifted to him. Pure Vanilla hummed in response as he turned around to face Blueberry Milk once more.
“Would you be interested in coming to visit the Yogurt Village?” He asked fidgeting with his sleeve again. “Just for a few days! Or just one! It's just that, I really want to show you around, and it is a weekend so I won’t have class tomorrow!” He clarified “Of course you don’t have to if you don’t wanna-”
“Yeah sure I can visit.” Pure Vanilla replied, hiding a small smile. Blueberry Milk stopped his rambling at those words and then smiled very brightly. “Oh really! That's great!” Blueberry Milk said joyously. “I’m free for the next week.” Pure Vanilla says as he adjusted the satchel on his shoulder. “So I can technically stay for however long you’ll have me over.” He states while shrugging ever so slightly. “A week works!” Blueberry Milk says excitedly. “Ooooo! You could come to one of my lectures! Oh!! And I could show you this one café I told you about, oh and I can show you the library and-”
“Woah, Blueberry, take a second to breathe.” Pure Vanilla says trying once again to suppress a laugh. “Right- Sorry sorry!” Blueberry Milk apologized as he laughed slightly.

“We can meet up here, same place tomorrow, and I can take you back to the Yogurt Village!” Blueberry Milk says tapping his chin. “Plus! That will give you time to pack up anything you need for the week!” Blueberry Milk smiled. “Alright, sounds good.” Pure Vanilla replied, nodding his head slightly. “Okay then! See you tomorrow Pure Vanilla!!” Blueberry Milk said waving back to Pure Vanilla as he turned to walk back to the Village. “See you tomorrow..” Pure Vanilla said quietly as he returned the wave, then Pure Vanilla began walking back towards his own home.

Chapter Text

While walking back to his room Pure Vanilla was going through things he needed to bring in his head, before he heard a familiar voice. “Pure Vanilla!” His sister's voice called from down the hall. He turned around to face his sister Moonflower who was currently speed walking to catch up to him.

“Hey! Sorry for shouting, you weren’t responding when I first called your name while you passed me a moment ago, so I assumed you were lost in thought.” She smiled at him “I was just wondering where you’ve been, if you’re willing to tell me of course, it is your business after all” Moonflower said, still smiling.

“Just.. meeting with a friend.” Pure Vanilla replied nonchalantly, shrugging a little, as he turned away, “Wait, a friend?” Moonflower looked at him confused for a second, before her face changed to a big smile. “I’m so happy you’re making friends!” She clasped her hands together and her silver wings fluttered behind her happily. “What's their name?” She questioned

“His name is Blueberry Milk Cookie” He replied quietly, turning back around to face Moonflower. “He is from a place called the Yogurt Village…No, he isn’t a faerie if you’re going to ask” He added. She stared at him for a moment before something seemed to click in her mind. “Is he the reason you’ve been going out every afternoon?” She smiled again. “Yeah.. so?” Pure Vanilla cookie mumbled, looking away from his sister. Moonflower’s smile brightened even more.

“Ah, I won't tease you about it… For now!” she waved her hand dismissively, still smiling.
Pure Vanilla felt his face heat up a bit before turning back to face his sister again.
“ANYWAY, I will be out for the rest of this week starting tomorrow.” He states avoiding eye contact. “Oh? Where are you going, if you don’t mind me asking?” Moonflower asks curiously.
“Blueberry Milk invited me to stay over at the Yogurt Village for a while.” He answers dismissively while Moonflower’s smile returns, but this time more of a smirk. “Hehehe! Okayyy Haaave fuuuuun!!” she replied in a sing-song tone. Feeling his face get warmer every moment he stood there, Pure Vanilla turned away from his sister and began to head towards his room again.

---------------------------------

The next day, Blueberry Milk was standing at their usual spot, waiting for Pure Vanilla. He was thinking about where the best place to show Pure Vanilla first. He should probably show him the Inn first! But, it is getting closer to winter break, so other cookies from near and far might be coming in to visit their loved ones, so there might not be many spare rooms in the two main Inns. Blueberry Milk did have a spare room, but should that be a last resort? Maybe it would be best to ask Pure Vanilla if he would prefer an Inn or his guest room?

Speaking of Pure Vanilla, Blueberry Milk felt a tap on his shoulder. When he looked up, Pure Vanilla was standing next to him. “So, are you playing solitaire again, or were you lost in thought?” He asked, adjusting the satchel around his shoulder, which Blueberry noticed was a different one than last time, this time matching the color scheme of his whole outfit, and it was also noticeably larger in size. “Ah! No solitaire match today, I’m afraid, simply thinking!” Blueberry Milk shrugged as he turned around to face the leaf covered path that would lead them to the Yogurt Village.

As the two walked, Blueberry Milk was yapping away, talking about all the interesting things that he wishes to show Pure Vanilla. Pure Vanilla was simply listening to Blueberry Milk speak as he usually did, if Blueberry Milk wasn’t so caught up in talking he might’ve noticed the slight smile that was pasted on Pure Vanilla’s face.

After about five minutes, they were about to enter the Yogurt Village, which then reminded Blueberry Milk about the dilemma he was thinking about before his friend showed up. Blueberry Milk paused his walking, and as he did, so did Pure Vanilla, right beside him.

“I have a question for you, friend.” Blueberry Milk said as he turned to face Pure Vanilla. Pure Vanilla hummed in response, signaling for him to continue. “Would you like to stay in my spare guest room during your stay, or would you prefer to stay in one of the Yogurt Village’s inns?” He questioned. Pure Vanilla thought about it for a moment. “Guest room, please.” Pure Vanilla replied simply.

“Alrighty then!” Blueberry Milk smiled.

----------------------------------

The duo entered the village, Blueberry Milk had started yapping about something else, occasionally stopping to point out something to Pure Vanilla. The walk to Blueberry Milk’s house had them passing by a very pretty looking fountain that had a couple cookies talking and enjoying each other's company. There were a few younger cookies running around and playing. One or two cookies spotted Blueberry Milk and walked up to say hello. As they did so, a young cookie with two white wings tripped over what seemed to be literally nothing and fell face first on the floor, as their friend shouted “COFFEE-”. After a short moment the young cookie got up, dusted themself off, shook off their wings, and then returned to playing what looked like a game of tag.
The two cookies that came over to say hi to Blueberry Milk left, and the duo continued walking.

It wasn't that much longer before they had arrived at Blueberry's home, it was a quaint building, it had a white exterior with a nice blue door. The roof was blue as well but it seemed to be decorated with white spots painted to look like stars. Blueberry Milk held the door open so Pure Vanilla could walk inside, “Welcome to my humble abode!” Blueberry Milk smiled cheerfully as he closed the door. “Here! Let me show you the way to the guest room!”

Pure Vanilla followed the excited cookie upstairs as he was led to the room where he would be staying in for the week. It was a very cozy room, there was a window with a spot for someone to sit and look out into the village. There was a quaint little desk with two bookshelves on either side, across from the bed that had a white rug beneath it. The bed was not made, however, the bedding was neatly folded and placed near the headboard. There was also a dresser placed at the foot of the bed, and there were two nightstands on either side of the bed.
“Do you like the room? Sorry the bed isn’t made- I didn’t know whether you would’ve preferred to stay at an inn or here so I didn’t prepare it beforehand!” Blueberry Milk said with a nervous smile on his face. “No need to worry, I can make the bed, it's okay. It is a very cozy room. Thank you for letting me stay here.” Pure Vanilla said as he placed his satchel down and went to grab the bedding. “Is there anything you need? Any extra pillows? Blankets?” Blueberry Milk questioned as he fidgeted with the hem of his sleeve. “No, not at the moment, I think.” Pure Vanilla replied “Alright then! I will let you get settled in! My room is the one two doors down from yours!” Blueberry Milk smiled. “The small door in the middle is the closet” He added “I will be downstairs if you need me!” He said as he got to the door. “Would you like your door open or closed?” He asked. “Cracked open works fine.” Pure Vanilla replied as he put the comforter on. “Okie dokie!” Blueberry Milk chimed as he left.

Pure Vanilla finished making the bed, and grabbed his satchel off the floor. Inside there were many things, a few of those things being; a few sets of clothing that all looked the same or similar enough. He liked dressing a certain way, and didn’t see a need for much variation, unless it was a special event. Some books to read, some books he thought Blueberry Milk might like, and a small journal.

------------------------------------

Pure Vanilla came downstairs and saw Blueberry Milk sitting down on the couch reading the book Pure Vanilla had given him the other day. The fact that Blueberry Milk enjoyed his gift caused him to smile as he continued down the stairs.
“So, do you like the book?” Pure Vanilla questioned as he walked over to Blueberry Milk, “Oh, and may I sit here?” Pure Vanilla asked as he stood next to the couch Blueberry Milk was on. “Pure Vanilla! Of course you can sit!” Blueberry Milk smiled as he looked up from the book. “And yes! It is very interesting! Thank you so much for the gift!” He said as his smile widened even more! “I’m glad you like it.” Pure Vanilla said, looking away from Blueberry Milk who was practically glowing.

“Oh! Yes!” Blueberry Milk spoke suddenly as he closed the book. “I wanted to show you around the Yogurt Village!” He said cheerfully as he placed the book down on the side table. “Sounds good.” Pure Vanilla said as he got up from the couch. Blueberry Milk followed soon after and the two left Blueberry Milk’s home.

They walked back and passed by the fountain again, this time Pure Vanilla noticed that the children that were here earlier are not here anymore, seemingly moved on to play somewhere else. The duo walked throughout the Village this time with Blueberry Milk walking around to many locations to show them to Pure Vanilla. They stopped by a few shops and stalls, a couple cafés. The sun was slowly lowering in the sky and the duo were once again walking past the fountain as a high pitched voice suddenly called out; "PROFESSOR BLUEBERRY MILK COOKIE!!!!!!!!!” The two looked around before something collided with Blueberry Milk’s middle. “Candy Apple… Try NOT to crumble Professor Blueberry Milk please-” A second much calmer, slightly annoyed voice called after the collision. “Oh! Candy Apple! Black Sapphire! Good to see you both!” Blueberry Milk said slightly winded as he hugged back the young cookie that rammed into him a moment ago. “We saw you walking and decided to come say ‘Hi’!!!” Candy Apple said excitedly as she released Blueberry Milk. “I came to say ‘Hi’, YOU apparently came to ram into him like a goat.” Black Sapphire shrugged. The younger cookie crossed her arms and let out a “hmph!”

Black Sapphire looked up and noticed Pure Vanilla standing. “Ah, Hello there! You must be Professor Blueberry Milk Cookie’s Friend, yes? It’s a pleasure to meet you” Black Sapphire said as he held his hand out. Pure Vanilla shook his hand as he nodded. “Oh yes! Candy Apple, Black Sapphire, This is Pure Vanilla Cookie! Pure Vanilla, these are two of my best students, Candy Apple Cookie, and Black Sapphire Cookie!” Blueberry Milk smiled as he gestured from Pure Vanilla to the two young cookies. “HIII!!!” The Candy Apple waved excitedly as Black Sapphire bowed respectfully. Pure Vanilla waved back, but less aggressively than Candy Apple did.

Black Sapphire looked at the sky then looked back towards the group. “It’s getting late, Candy and I should be heading home for today. Again, It was a pleasure to meet you Pure Vanilla Cookie!” Pure Vanilla nodded “It was a pleasure to meet you too.”

The two duos parted ways, going off in two different directions. Pure Vanilla and Blueberry Milk got back to the house as the first few stars started appearing in the sky. Once they entered the house Blueberry Milk walked over to the kitchen. “Ah- it seems I forgot to buy groceries the other day, and I was so distracted showing you around, I didn’t actually buy anything.” Blueberry Milk sighed. “Well, I do have some leftover candy pasta if you would like some!” He asked as he looked back to Pure Vanilla who had followed him into the kitchen. “Sure, I’m not that hungry so could I only get a small portion?” Pure Vanilla replied. “Of course! I will go out for groceries tomorrow so I’m able to make other foods!” Blueberry Milk smiles as he portioned out some candy pasta for both him and Pure Vanilla. He put the plates in the microwave and the duo ate their meals.

After the two ate they both went upstairs. “Remember! If you need anything, I’m just down the hall!” Blueberry Milk said happily as Pure Vanilla opened the door to the guest room. “Mhm, Thank you again for letting me stay here Blueberry Milk.” Pure Vanilla Replied, his cape moved a little from his wings fluttering beneath it. “Of course!!” Blueberry Milk smiled again.

Pure Vanilla sat down on the bed as he grabbed some of the books he picked out for Blueberry Milk and smiled. He decided he would try to give the books to Blueberry Milk tomorrow if he remembered. He placed them down on one of the nightstands, then grabbed a journal and a pencil from his bag. He wasn’t feeling that tired, so he decided to draw.

After a few minutes Pure Vanilla looked at the page and noticed tiny doodles of Blueberry Milk surrounding his other drawings of things like flowers, or sheep. He felt his face heat up ever so slightly then he closed his journal and placed it in the drawer of the nightstand on his left.

He let his head sink into the pillow and the blankets engulfed him comfortably as his eyes shut slowly while he drifted off to sleep.
