Work Text:
Leaf lived with his mom in the Everfree Forest near a bunch of overgrown bamboo where their house was located in the Everfree Forest.
Leaf’s mom Twig loved her son very much that she expected the best of him.
One day Leaf wanted to go on a walk on his own in the Everfree Forest.
“Mom, I wanna go on my own walk through the Everfree Forest,” said Leaf.
“Are you sure you’ll be safe?” Twig asked.
“Mom, I’m eight years old, I can look after myself,” said Leaf.
“Okay, but can you pick some pears for me please?” Twig asked.
“Okay mom,” said Leaf.
Twig gave her son a hug then gave him a basket to collect pears in.
Leaf left the house waving goodbye to his mom before leaving to go into the Everfree Forest.
“And Leaf,” said Twig.
“Yeah mom?” Leaf replied.
“Be sure to stay out of trouble,” said Twig.
“Okay mom,” said Leaf then went on into the Everfree Forest.
While walking through the forest, Leaf kept an eye out for dangerous creatures like chimeras, manticores and hydras. Luckily there was no creature in sight.
He then remembered that his mom requested for him to collect some pears before heading back home.
Leaf started to look for a pear tree to collect some pears for his mom.
He went deeper into the Everfree Forest until he reached an area of the forest that was more open and had less trees in the area.
In the open area of the Everfree Forest Leaf saw a pear tree that was so big it looked magical.
Leaf was mesmerized by the tree but still cannot stand and stare at it, he had to pick some pears.
Something strange emerged from the ground in front of the pear tree.
This strange thing happened to be a chimera with three heads. One being a tiger, the other a goat and the third a snake. The creature had a tiger paw, a zebra hoof, a lizard foot and a goat hoof and a long red snake tail.
“A chimera!!” Leaf shouted.
The chimera snarled at Leaf with its three heads glaring at him.
“Wait a minute, a chimera just doesn’t decide to come out of the ground out of nowhere,” said Leaf.
The chimera continued to growl at Leaf.
“You don’t scare me! I know who you really are, Discord!” Leaf said.
The creature paused then transformed into its true form now looking more biopedal then on all fours and with one head.
The Chimera was actually the lord of chaos Discord all along.
“How can you tell it was me?” Discord said.
“A real chimera just doesn’t come out of nowhere,” said Leaf.
“I see, smart little raccoon,” said Discord patting Leaf on top of his head.
“I’m a red panda!” Leaf said impatiently.
“My bad,” said Discord.
“Weren’t you the one that stopped Adean from causing a post apocalypse?” Leaf asked.
“It was me, the hero of Maretime Bay,” said Discord proudly.
“You did it because you saw yourself in Adean, didn’t you?” Leaf said.
“Sort of,” said Discord.
“But she’s a draconequus like you,” said Leaf.
“She was a human,” said Discord.
“What’s a human?” Leaf said puzzled.
“It’s complicated,” Discord grumbled.
“Not to change the subject but can I collect some pears?” Leaf asked.
“For your mom Twig, here,” said Discord handing him a pear.
“I can climb, red pandas are excellent climbers,” said Leaf.
“Before you do try one, take a bite,” said Discord giving Leaf a pear.
Leaf snatched the pear out of Discord’s hand and began to eat it.
“Mmm, taste like chocolate moose,” said Leaf as he quickly devoured the rest of the pear.
“This is not just any pear tree, it’s magic,” said Discord.
“Because of you?” Leaf said.
“This tree has been around many centuries long before my time, it’s super ancient,” said Discord.
“You mean creatures you call humans that used to live in Pony Land?” Leaf asked.
“The humans once planted this tree to ward off the wicked from harming people and ponies,” said Discord.
“You mean demons?” Leaf wondered.
“Back when I was your age, Adean’s father Scorpan told me about its ability to cure the sick and injured as well as to be powerful enough to keep demons away,” said Discord.
“You were once a villain weren’t you?” Leaf questioned.
“But I changed,” said Discord.
“Why didn’t any of the Equestria books talk about this?” Leaf asked.
“The existence of humanity has been long forgotten by the creatures of Equestria,” said Discord.
“You still remember don’t you?” Leaf said.
“I know that I remember meeting Scorpan when he was still human,” said Discord.
“But the pears that the extinct humans planted still taste good,” said Leaf.
“Then go climb up and get some, there’s plenty to go around,” said Discord.
Leaf climbed up the tree and grabbed as much pears as he can carry.
“This’ll be a good meal for my mom and myself,” said Leaf climbing down from the tree with the basket full of pears.
“By the way, how how do you control your chaotic powers?” Leaf asked.
“I was born with my powers while Adean’s were accidental,” said Discord.
Leaf remembered when Adean lost control and nearly caused a post apocalypse on Maretime Bay.
“Will Adean ever control her chaotic abilities?” Leaf asked.
“I’ll teach her what I know about using chaos magic properly,” said Discord.
“I wish you the best of luck,” said Leaf.
“I’ll do my best,” said Discord.
“Discord,” said Leaf.
“Yes?” Discord responded.
“Thanks for the pears, my mom is gonna love them,” said Leaf.
“Leaf, tell your mom that I helped you get the pears,” said Discord.
“We had a nice talk, hope you can drop by again,” said Leaf waving goodbye to Discord.
Discord smiled back and waved back at Leaf as the little red panda went back home.
Deep down it felt good for Discord to make a new friend outside of his old friend Fluttershy.
Discord knew now after feeling good for helping out someone else that he would feel more open-minded to teaching Adean everything he knows about using chaos magic properly.
Discord knew it’ll help them both out in the multiverse outside of just Equestria.
Hopefully Adean would become the hero that Discord was not able to become, he knew that Adean would become that hero.
The End.
