“Do you think you could do it?”
Giorno stared across the table at the Frenchman. He’s only known him for a couple of months now, but he viewed him as a valuable asset. “Well, Polnareff, this is a rather big ask.” He said, “I am aware of how Golden Experience can access other worlds but how do you know he’s still alive in there?”
Polnareff tensed for a moment before he sighed, “I don’t know. Just, please, Giorno, I need to know if he’s still alive in whatever world that stand sent him to. I need to know if Avdol is alive and you’re the only person who can do that.”
The room was silent for a moment before Giorno nodded calmly. “I see.” He said, falling back into thought about the situation.
“You got me back into my body just fine! You can get Avdol out.” Polnareff continued, his voice was full of desperation. He was trying his hardest to hold back tears, making it obvious to Giorno how much Avdol mattered to the other.
Giorno shook his head for a moment before he stood up. “I’ll do it.”
“You will!?” A gasp of relief left Polnareff’s mouth. Leaning forward in his wheelchair before sitting up as Giorno approached. “Is.. is there a cost or..”
“No cost,” Giorno said as he stopped right in front of the other. “I just need to make it clear that I can’t control if he’s gone.”
Polarneff looked away as he nodded. “I know. Either way it would give me closure.”
Giorno nodded, “I understand. We’ll get it over with now then.” He said, manifesting Golden Experience.
“Now?!” Polnareff yelped out, stress was sinking in, he wasn’t ready to see Avdol again. Well he was, but it was just a big mix of feelings.
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” Giorno asked, looking at Polnareff as his stand began to work.
“Well yes- just- What if he doesn’t recognize me?”
“We’ll find out.” Giorno said, before almost instantly, Avdol was pulled out onto the floor.
He looked exactly how he was when Polnareff had lost him. Avdol was panicked, in a mix agony and still full of the adrenaline of the battle. Now finding himself bleeding onto the cold floor. It didn’t take long for it to click in his head that he wasn’t in DIO’s mansion anymore.
Giorno looked down at the other, taking notice of the missing arm. “Do you want help with that?” He asked calmly, startling Avdol as he saw the man turn to face him.
“Who are you? Where am I!? What happened to Polnareff-?” Avdol yelled out, finally speaking. Stumbling as he tried to stand up.
“Polnareff’s just fine. He’s right here.” Giorno said, figuring that perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to leave that for last.
Avdol stared at Giorno in confusion before his gaze turned towards Polnareff. “Polnareff? Is that you?” He asked, his voice was shaky, trying to calm himself down, despite his arm bleeding out.
Giorno took a few steps away from Polnareff, looking around his office before he made his way to find something to fix up Avdol’s arm.
Avdol took a step towards Polnareff, only to see the man sobbing.
“I thought you were gone forever.” Polnareff said, finally looking up at Avdol. Trying to wipe his tears away.
“What happened to you? How long was I gone?-“ Avdol asked, he was confused, very VERY confused. Polnareff looked far older, and more injured. “What did he do to you?” His mind focused on the fight with Vanilla Ice.
Polnareff shook his head, taking a deep breath. Trying to figure out where to start, he looked away again. “You’ve been gone for a few decades now..”
“Decades??” Avdol repeated, quickly grabbing Polnareff by his shoulders. Ready to continue questioning before he realized his arm was restored. Confusing him further.
Turning behind, Avdol looked to face Giorno who watched the two quietly.
“I was wondering when you would notice.”
“What did you do?-“
Grabbing Avdol’s wrists, Polnareff pulled them away from his shoulders, “Stop asking questions for a moment. I just need a moment to take in that you’re still alive.”
Giorno nodded, “You two have a lot to catch up on. Should I walk you two out?”
Avdol looked back and forward between the two for a moment before focusing back on Polnareff. “Do you trust him?”
“Yes, Avdol.” Polnareff said, before he let go of Avdol. Making his way towards the door of the office.
He was hesitant, watching Polnareff wait outside the room for him as Giorno stared him down. Avdol was panicked and confused, before he followed to the door. Giving Giorno a look before joining Polnareff.
Avdol stood outside of the office, hearing the door close. “So.”
“We defeated DIO.” Polnareff calmly said, beginning to move down the hall.
Avdol quickly followed after, trying his best to try and not ask as many questions, “That’s great-! What about the others, are they as injured as you from it?”
“DIO wasn’t the one who injured me like this.” Polnareff began, “but that’s for another time. Jotaro and Joseph are doing fine I believe.”
“Kakyoin?”
“Didn’t make it.”
Avdol stopped walking, staring at Polnareff in silence.
“Sorry.” Polnareff said, “I just.. I don’t know what to tell you.” He was tearing up again, feeling Avdol lean over to hug him.
“All I remember before ending up in that office is seeing you.” Avdol began, he was also tearing up. “I was so afraid you’d die with me- then now I’m here-“
Polnareff nodded, “I know, I feel bad I can’t answer all your questions right away.” He said, trying to lighten the conversation before Avdol held him tighter.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with your friend but I suppose he’s the reason I’m here.”
“Yeah, Giorno’s special like that I suppose. I’ll tell you later.”
“You’ll tell me everything later if we keep doing this.” Avdol said, finally pulling away from Polnareff. “We better get started soon.”
“We should.”
